You need a helmet. You're going to have a "brain pie" at these speeds if you wipe out. I did a good wipe out a year ago and if I did not have my helmet I'd probably not making this comment.
@karlstade lol! I think that he's trying to demonstrate the power of the motor without his legs. i bet he could go much faster if he worked his ass off too.
WittTristan, what is the WEIGHT of you + your bike ? (I'm affraid of this heat/ shutdown problem). Since i live in a warm place (up to 110 Fahrenheit or 43 Celsius) i'm affraid of this bug ! Does anyone else experienced this Heat / shutdown problem ? (with magicpie integrated controller)
I have a Magic Pie II on a 26" wheel. I'm running with 48 volt SLA. I reach speeds of 25 MPH (Unassisted)
However this motors internal controller ALWAYS over heats and shuts down after 6-8 miles. Unless you're riding in the DEAD of winter.
If you are going to build with one of these, keep your bike LIGHT WEIGHT. Or better yet. Buy a motor with an external controller. (The motor itself is great, it's the controller that is lacking.)
anyone know what the maximum speed can be achieve with a Magic Pie with 20 inch casted wheel/rim with a 48v lithium battery? Please send me a message/comment. Thanks.
For the record, At 37 miles on a magic Pie (20' casted rim)(weight bike/cargo/rider about 250 pounds combined) with a 36v 16ah battery, battery status indicator lights GREEN still lit when giving motor full throttle on level grade street.
When going up hill after 37 miles on charge, the green liight turns off, and only see yellow and red lights
Not clear how many more miles That charge and MP will take me.
