Mario Kart and Modnation are very different, so the Nintendo fanboys need to see more of this game before they can judge it. I haven't bought it yet, but I've played the demo and also own Mario Kart Wii. Both are entertaining, though I like the customizing feature and racing style on Modnation better. I like both, and plan on getting MNR.

And by serious I mean it actually takes skill or some timing to win races in this game unlike Mario Kart where I can just win by using Blue shells. I mean there are power-ups that are easily countered by shields, sideswiping, and such. So I think there's a level of srsness there where other kart racers fail at

For example, just use a banana or green shell to counter a red shell, or use a well TIMED mushroom to escape a blue shell. Dude I have played it. It's just MDN has allot more stuff to do, not just in races but making characters, tracks, and cars. yes MK has stuff to do but not as much.

I've only noticed sliding, powerups and shortcuts in a race. they both have some sort of story/singleplayer mode and challenges so that part is pretty much equal.
