a good song is a good song....is a good song. No matter what style it's done in. That's the mark of good songwriting. I know the guys from Cheap Trick, they put this version on at the end of their show. That's the pat on the back!
Thanks for the Dwight Yoakam video....Doesnt matter if you spelled the title wrong. LOL. Buck 'Em. Wish I had youtube when I was a kid. None of my school work would've been done.
Correct title is "I Want You To Want Me." A hit for Cheap Trick in late '70s. Dwight is a true artist in that he picks cover songs that are just "great songs" and doesn't worry about the genre or original artist. The music world would be so much better if more artists would cover Bill Monroe, Merle Haggard, Waylon Jennings, Elvis, Cheap Trick, and Supertramp all in one concert. Love Dwight and all his band members (past and present.) Keep bringing it to us guys!
LOL@ themom2717....RIGHT??? Every time Cheap Trick got to the chorus I'd think, "What the HELL is he singing???" Then I heard Dwight's version and said, "Ohhhhh!"--I loved this from the first note. Much better than Cheap Trick's--no offense. The steel guitar kicks ass. I played this over and over until my hubby said he was gonna lose it if I played it one. more. time. =D
@bossou5555 ~ lol, I grew up listening to this by Cheap Trick and always loved it. But, there were parts of it I could never understand until I heard by Dwight! :D
I never really like this song that much until I heard this version. The steal guitar really sets it off. The vocals are also a great improvement. Overall, this version rocks!
YESYESYES, this version is back!!! I was close to tears when I couldn't find it anymore (was in my favorites.) So Thank you soooooo much. I always listen to this song first thing in the morning so that I can eat breakfast with some good and happy music. Thank you so very much. Big hug and a kiss from Liz
