  • absolut pleco

  • Gorgeous animal! Love the bottle background, too ;)

  • do you have vodka bottles in your tank????

  • pleco is the given name and the other name is algea eater

  • My mom had a pleco when I was little. The tank got really dirty somehow, I think the filter died or something, so we gave the pleco and our two fancy goldfish to a pet store. Damn thing gave me nightmares. I know they're beneficial and all but I can't get over how ugly they are!

  • so it is safe to put broccoli in the tank? never knew that

  • LOL what? I didnt know they can eat veggies!

  • Good lookin fish. I have a tough time getting the veggies to sink!

  • Those fish have a very serious drink problem, lol

  • My pleco died =/ the driftwood he would feed on is now growing some sort of fungi or white algae since he's gone I'd best get another.

  • beutifull pleco!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i bought a new pleco from the petstore and needless to say she was sick and died! poor betsy( terrible name i know). What tankmates do you think would be good if i get a pleco for my new 29 gallon tank....thanx

  • @DontTellMe93 The plecos are great tank mates, they clean, they don't bother anyone and they don't let anybody bother them cos their skin is like an armor.. I don't know the measure of gallons, where I live we use Liters, the tank in the video is 200 liters. the pleco will grow proportionaly to the tank.

  • @aisles23 thanx i will definately try and get another one from a differant source

oh and my tank is 100 litres

  • @aisles23 Wrong, your pleco will continue to grow up to 2 feet long even in a 30 gallon (113 liter) tank. Keeping these fish in a smaller tank is fine when they are small but trust me once they begin to grow to be 12+ Inches, you really should have a bigger tank, around 120+ gallons (454 liters) Other than that, Great video, I love your Absolut bottles.

  • @aisles23 That's not entirely true. A fish's body will grow proportionally to the size of the tank, but the problem is that their internal organs will grow to the size they are supposed to, thus putting a fish that's supposed to grow large, into a tank that's too small for it, will dramatically reduce the lifespan of the fish.

For a 29 gallon tank I would recommend getting a bristlenose pleco as they only grow to approximately 6 inches.

  • @aisles23 yes armor but not a strong armor because i had some african cichlids in a week they put a hole in him he is still alive i took out the africans and took them back big mistake

  • @DontTellMe93 I have 3 rosy barbs, a peacock eel, a rainbow shark, and a pleco all in the same 29 gal tank and they get along fine. I would try to get semi agressive fish so they have the will to fight back

  • @fishwrangler97 thanx will try that next time (:

  • @DontTellMe93 dude i want to warn you dont put fish like koi goldfish carps etc. with pl*cos they will suck the slime coat off them if not well fed will kill the goldfish or koi realy i dont think you would put carp in your tank

  • lol he cant decide whether to eat the cucumber or the broccoli

  • Nom Nom Nom Nom

  • aww he is adorable <3

  • yeah the original I believe can grow to 2 feet which is huge

  • you sure do like absolute

  • .1 What is the smallest type of pleco I've heard the regular gets huge.2how big does a clown pleco get.3please answer

  • @Firebelliedkid sorry, I don't know much about it... there's a bulldog pleco that doesn't grow bigger than your hand.

  • @aisles23 What if i am a giant?

  • @Firebelliedkid Panaque maccus = clown pleco, these get around 4-5 inch's overall, they are quite a shy fish in the day and tends to come out mostly at night. it needs caves/ places to hide and also it NEEDs wood in the tank, as it is a huge part of its diet, yes, it eats wood.

  • @Firebelliedkid I found this one at petsmart its called an Otocinclus , it grows to a maximum length of 2 inches. if you want to find out more about it just look it up on google

  • @Firebelliedkid a bristlenose or clown would be good. i used to have a clown and he never got bigger than about 3 inches.

  • @Firebelliedkid the clown pleco commomly grows up to 3 inches another small pleco would be the zebra pleco they grow up to 3 inches as well and the other small pleco thats commonly available in most pet stores would be the brittle nose pleco which grows to only 6 inches i believe.....hope this helps in any way :)

  • @Firebelliedkid a clown pleco gets the same size as a bristlenose in between 5-6 inches

  • thats a cool fish tank

  • OH I SEE NEVER MIND

  • HOW DID YOU GET THAT BROCCOLI TO SINK...

  • @Francheska7778 I usualy tied it with a thread and a stone! that precise one, I don't recall :p

  • @Francheska7778 i put mine in the gravel facing up put the pebbles on the sides so it was showing up

  • I see you like vodka!! ;)

  • he must have a sore head drinking all that vodka

  • Absolut Pleco! :D

  • @runescapefreak795 lol!!! good one!

  • nice tank setup grate =)

  • haha thats a sick setup you got going on in your tank =) i approve! lol

  • "and thanks to our sponsers..."

  • have you tried to give it mango? they like that

  • will my juvenile eat that he is about 2 inches and i got him yesterday i want him to grow fast

  • @MyRedEaredSliders they have algae wafers e.t.c at the pet store. They will eat this for sure. Try keeping plecos again and feeding them algae wafers

  • @swaqqboii1 the algae wafers i got made my tank fog up so be careful

  • my pleco didnt, it just stayed away from it and died..

  • hi! could you please let me know what kind of pleco that is? thank you!

  • @supersoontobefamous

It`s "The Original" Hypostomus plecostomus, mostly sure... the one who grows real big (more than a meter) in natural situations... I don't know why mine tends to be slightly more pale, and the spots seem to be smaller than most of the pics out there, maybe cos he's a little bigger in comparison with most of the pics, who knows...

  • me likey vodka!

  • HAHA cute fish. ever seen their moon shaped pupels and nice beer decor

  • My pleco, Fred, recently had a 3-inch growth spurt in just 10 days! I just upgraded to a 29-gallon tank, and he LOVES his fake log. Hides upside down in it all day, and at night he GOES for his algae wafers. Going to start feeding cucumber to him and all my fish very soon, gonna get a feeding clip to hold it down with :D

  • @poastar Honestly you dont even have to get a feeding clip that just made it harder for mine to get to it. I took an old toothbrush and use a couple tiny rubber bands to secure the veggie down to it. He loves it!

  • i love how there's absolute's vodka on the back ground xDDDD,but nice vid dude

  • do you cut the center out like that or does the fish do it? i just want to know im still learnin.. message me please

  • Gosh, those are monsterous huge Broccolis you got there @.@"

  • Awe hes sooo cute XD I have a question, I have a normal and an albino one, but I have no idea how much to feed them,, I put two tablets a night but I don't want them to starve, I also have a koi and I think he is eating there food >.<

  • @Lex90210 Try roughly 3-5 wafers per fish. I feed mine around that, and he's growing steadily :)

  • i feed mine alge wafers but he neaver eats them ... can u help me out idk what to feed him he just sticks to the back of the tank

  • @gatlinggun100 don't worry they are pretty strong, he sticks in the back probably cos he is trying to hide, they really eat during the night, put some trunk or wood in there, mine didn't like commercial (special) food so much but kept the glass crystal clear lol.. the algae that grows in the glass and the plants I believe is the favorite food for him, a dead partner is also a favorite lol!

  • @gatlinggun100 My main suggestion is to put the algae wafers in before you go to bed at night, right before you turn out the light in your tank. Plecos have an eyelid that actually seals over there eye to block out daylight, so when you turn the light out your pleco can not only see well but his sense of smell and natural nocturnal instincs will likely lead him right to them. My pleco is a bit picky about his wafers so try different brands and vegetables as well. Hope this helped!

  • @gatlinggun100 Plecos also have a tendancy to need a place to call home during the day. For mine, it is a broken pot which he loves to hang out in all the time. This acts as shelter for the pleco as well as a dark place to hang out during the day. You can break pots (wash them well), use logs, or plastic flower pots as well as some hollowed logs. This wil make him more confident to come out during the day as well as more comfortable and secure feeling in the tank.

  • those the cucumber affect the water if its left for too long.

  • i have few questions about feeding my 2 new pleco. first how do i get cucumbers to sink and how long do you have to leave the cucumbers, broccole, etc in the tank before taking them out again. finally is there any food for plecos that i can find at the store. anybody please suggest cause im worried my plecos are not eating.

  • @ALLkindstuff Yes you shouldn't leave those things for too long in the water... I generally put some weight tied to the cucumber, etc.. (in the video it sank just by luck!)... in the stores there's special food for them of course... and finally, don't worry! they are very strong and I think they are now feeding from the algae stick in the glass and the plants (if you got plants).. buy them some commercial food if you want them to grow faster I guess and do water changes!

  • ooo cucumber, nom nom nom nom...... oo look broccoli, nom nom nom nom. ooo cucumbers on the move... nom nom nom nom nom ... ah that was good.... BROCCOLI! nom nom nom nom nom

  • @Ettio137 cucumbers on the move! lol!

  • @aisles23 hehe :P

  • my pleco doesn't really eat broccoli cucumber ect.. are there other things i can try? What about lettuce and cauliflower leaves will they work? i dont wanna try anything without hearing from other people first. Thanks

  • what type of pleco is that?

How much do they cost up to?

  • @aznboiatytube this is the most classic and real pleco, is not expensive at all, depends how large it is though, but they grow fast and strong!

  • will he eat the seed for the plant?

  • thanks i just put some live plant seed in my tank so that should give i\him some food. and i have colombian sharks and will they eat the live plant seed? im scared it will happen. and also will my pleco eat it?

  • @fitbikerider459 man, I think they will, it's very hard to get plants from seeds in the aquarium, I have not even tried, besides the pleco and the colombian shark grows huge so it seems like impossible to me!

  • @fitbikerider459 you better cut a branch of any plant you like and it will grow the roots alone ;)

  • uhh ya i tried putting zucchini in my tank for my pleco and i did it overnight and then this morning io\ saw him try some but then he just didnt like it. is it like that for all of them the first time or what? is it bad to just feed them algae wafers and flake foods all the time? please reply back

  • @fitbikerider459 I don't know if zuchini works like cucumber, but mine took some time to start eating it though, I had to put some weight at first, for the cucumber to sink, I think it's normal that he doesn't eat at first, they eat lettuce, and other leaves too, maybe when he's really hungry he'll start to eat for sure, they even eat the aquarium plants when vig enough and hasn't been fed well.

Hope it helps a bit ;)

  • @fitbikerider459 There is A food espesially make for Plecos. I you look in the treat section of your local pet store you will probbly find sinking pleco food

  • @fitbikerider459 what kind of pleco do you have some are carnivorus.

also thats strange I keep hearing zucchini is the all time favorite

    I feed mine

(in order from most favorite to least)

    hikari algae wafers

    cucumber

    spinach

    lettuce

  • How'd you get the vegetables to sink?

  • @SharkAlien12345 lol well as you can see there are some vegetables floating there, at first I put a weight tight with a thread in the cucumber (for example) and I think the pleco got the cucumber to get used to sink lol

  • omg that pleco has a fish boner...no homo

  • very nice :D

  • Hi, Um I gotta small pleco today, Ummm, How many times a day do you feed them? Please responeded

  • @CpWiser10 two times a day as usual, with comercial food, but they eat all the algae in the tank, and try to put a piece of wood, you cajn give them cucumber and other vegetables.

  • Pleco's are just large poop machines, but ya gotta love em! nice pleco

  • @aisles23 thank you so much for helping me

  • @aisles23 thanks alot for answering. what ph do they like?

  • @andrewcy17 PH from 6 to 8...

  • i know nothing about fish but i really want a pleco can someone please tell me how much it would be to go out and buy EVERYTHING i need for a pleco

  • @andrewcy17 Plecos are very easy to keep, he'll grow depending on food and the size of the aquarium (in nature can grow a meter long), they eat vegetables and commercial food... hope this helps a bit. Is a cool fish for newbies and experienced. :p

  • Great video :-) got a pleco yesterday, he has not eatin yet at all :-/ I'd appreciate any help

  • butiful pleco man!

  • Messy for sure lol.. I have to clean my tank every 3 weeks because they poop so much lol.. Awsome vid by the way( vid plecos on my site)

  • how long does it take ot eat all that brocoli

  • It didn't like brocolo so much so I think I took it away... but the whole cucumber very fast, half of it in a day for sure..

  • lol i love the vodka bottles

  • i feed mine steamed broccoli with veggie clips. Veggie clips are very convenient.

  • hey cool fish and tank, and can i put a pleco fish on a coldwater tank?

  • thanks man!

yes you can, but the temperature must be around 22°C, no less than 20 °C but NEVER under 18°C... so it depends where you live or buying a heater. they eat a lot and they are very messy!

  • @aisles23 messy?!?!?! they are tank cleaners

  • @MrSkelly7447 Yes very good cleaners but this one got also very plant breaker lol

I wish I had that one back anyway cos I plan to get a bigger tank.

  • @aisles23 please tell me, but how many times do you need to feed your pleco?

  • there are only a few species of pleco u can add inside a coldwater tank.. mostly common pleco..

and even then.. they have to be at least 70 degrees..

Do NOT house them in ponds.. they will die..

  • lol yes! ABSOLUTelly... trying a different furniture... now I'm back to the plants though, it tended to look nice, but too cold..

  • is that vodka in the background?
