  • Both great directors. However, Tarantino's movies don't have a lot of meaning. Overall, I think the coen brothers are better. Neither should be insulted.

  • My favorite directors... I could never pick one over the other.

  • Miller's Crossing beats all of QT's movies Leo's part in it when he kills all the guys in the house brilliant simply brilliant.

  • What about David Fincher vs. Christopher Nolan?!

(Abraço a todo amante do cinema!)

  • Jackie Brown was such a bad movie I fell asleep during it.

  • i like how you also use quite a lot of stanley kubrick music. it should be tarantino v.s coen brothers v.s Stanley Kubrick

  • Very nice video and editing!!! Coentino.

  • Quentin doesn't put up a fight all he has that are good is reservoir dogs and pulp fiction and inglorious BASTERDS

  • Coens movies are about the landscape, the characters... They are westerns

Tarrantino movies are movies celebrating movies

  • They are both great!

  • Tarantino vs Coen Bros? This' is going to be a bloody fight.

  • I can't pick, I love them both so much. The Coens brothers have had more successes on paper and in my book. But the successes Quentin has had are revolutionary.

  • Okay everybody I just finished my five scripts for my new gang series coming to theaters every movie is going to describe each gang then the last one will start the action up in a big way by all the gangs trying to gain territories. I'm going to be making this film almost like a comic book all the gangs are going to have their colors on, almost like kick ass how it was shot. Well bid me good luck.

  • QUENTIN = KING

  • QUENTIN = KING.COENS TWO BRAINS IQ CANT MATCH QT'S ONE BRAIN IQ.EVEN (QT HATERS = LOOK-HOW-SMART-IAM-TRYING-TO-BE WANNABES) KNOW THIS

  • Tarantino doesnt make movies, he makes movie movies. And that, very very good.

Pulp Fiction beats every Coen-movie by a landslide, though they r also very good.

  • If you like Tarantino more than Joel and Ethan then you are obviously a terrible movie critic because if you give me one movie that Tarantino didn't do about drama and action then Quentin moves up one percent so he's at left field while all the hitters are lefties.

  • Raising Arizona is better than all Quentin's films combined.

  • @coreymitchelhoulden lolololol....no

  • Coen's win that matchup but in all fairness it didn't contain much from True Romance, Tarantino's masterpiece.

  • Tarantino is just a collage artist. He's an entertaining director, but not a great director. The Coens are great and have a more original voice.

  • @Tigerlily21 I want to stick a pencil in my eye. Tarantino is an assembler of elements (which a collage artist does) and adds nothing original to those assembled elements? Really? The Coens' films are genre exercises so diverse as to transcend style. Are you really seeing a unified "original voice" in RAISING ARIZONA and A SERIOUS MAN? The Coens' are working in established genres in fascinating ways, as does Tarantino. Does great preclude entertaining? Billy Wilder? Ernst Lubitsch?

  • Coen win by default Tarantino can't make a different genre movie

  • @TheWesternMafia1237 lol i can't stop laughing at your comment.

  • Coen brothers make their movies about all doddery genres Tarantino sticks to drama action. The Coen bros shove Tarantino's face into the mud and make a

Movie while standing on top of him. No matter if Tarantino does change his genres up, the Coen bros still win for being the pitcher while Tarantino is the right fielder for a game in which all the players on the other team our right handed hitters.

  • Tarantino is the greatest of all time, but the Coen brothers have made some of my favorite movies of all time

  • Tarantino, even though I love Coens too.

  • Coen! Coen! Coen!

  • Very good! Greetings from Russia (Moscow)

  • wow!... now THIS is a youtube video! very good work, thank you my friend

  • Coens win hands down. Tarantino is not even in the same league.

  • i think its an insult to coen brothers even to be campared to turd sample like tarantino or wateva his name is.

  • THE BIG LEBOWSKI!

  • THE BIG LEBOWSKI!!

  • THE BIG LEBOWSKI!!

  • THE BIG LEBOWSKI!!!!!!!

  • THE BIG LEBOWSKI!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Tarantino is just a good sampler. His films are good entertainment, but the Coen brothers are genius writers and directors.

  • Kubrick

  • coens should win

  • Tarantino all the way. Even tho Coens are geniuses too.

  • Holy wow, am I really the only one that honestly likes Tarantino more? :DD Coens are brilliant too, tho'.

  • I choose Tarantino over the Coens. The Coen's movies are, "better" though. Their characters are much more intimately expressed, and as a result, in need of more detail. The values expressed in their stories are also more broad.

Tarantino does bad guys. He remains more abreast of his characters, which enlivens their moral inconsistencies. I love Tarantino because he's done THAT.. he's shown today's moviegoers that evil people eat popcorn.. and go to the movies.

  • Brilliant Video!!

  • Coens !!!!!!!!!! xDD

    True Grit ;D

  • That fight scene between the 2 women in the trailer ( stuntwoman Zoe Bell & ? ) in Kill Bill Vol. 2 is probably one of the finest I've ever seen.

  • Coen brothers are much better..

I love all tarantino's work, but still coen brothers make real art.

  • A cool violent mix of my favorite directors~

  • Sorry, guys. But the winner is... Well, definitely: us.

  • coens, no question

  • The coen brothers all the way

  • Too close to call

  • whats the songs at 3:31 ???

  • @fierfly25 Think it´s the sountrack to Kill Bill.

  • @fierfly25 Think it´s from Kill Bill.

  • Coen's by far.

  • hi leandro ,please spielberg vs cameron

  • Tarantino. No doubt on that one. :)

  • gonna have to say tarantino, but that is not to say that i wouldnt watch a coen brothers movie any day of the week

  • Coen's over Trantino? Lol,,, um, ok

  • substance versus style?

  • Tarantino is so flashy, I LOVE his films but I think the Coen brothers have more to work with and have created deeper, equally entertaining films.

I never understood why death proof was so poorly received...

  • Tarantino is a great director, but he doesnt work enough and isnt as consistent as the coens. his early work Pulp and Res Dogs, and the new inglorious basterds are the only great films he made. I Could name probably ten great coen movies. So it would have to go with coens. Both have great skills in script writing.

  • @ThaSubzstance The Coens have made a film almost every year in the 2000's, and they were not all great. Tarantino has not even made ten films. I would also argue that the Kill Bills and even Jackie Brown can be considered "great". Both are my top favorite directors. Fantastic tribute. well done

  • res dogs is miles better than pulp fiction

  • @boratsam u can go further than that. millers crossing is a masterpiece. as is barton fink in my opinion, my personal favourite.

  • My two/three favorite directors... Impossible to compare.

    How can you compare:

    Pulp Fiction to Fargo

Inglorious Basterds to The Big Lebowski

Imdb might, but I just can't.

  • Why include Death Proof ? Can't we all just forget that ever happened and move on?

  • I saw all tarantino movies and from coens only saw fargo, big lebowski, o brother where are thou, intolerable cruelty. I have to say i enjoyed tarantino movies a little more.

  • Tarantino: 1 Masterpiece (Pulp Fiction), 1 Great Movie (Reservoir Dogs)

Coens: (5 Great Movies) Blood Simple, Barton Fink, Fargo, The Big Lebowski, No Country for Old Men

I'd say the Coens are better overall.

  • @blablaidontcarewhour Why would you try to make a competition out of it instead of just enjoying some of the finest works in film that is made in our generation? Also, brilliant video.

  • @blablaidontcarewhour imo all of tarantinos movies are good except for death proof and reservoir dogs is a classic!

  • @blablaidontcarewhour I'm sorry but no.

Taratino: 2 Masterpieces (Pulp and Reservoir Dogs), 2 Great movies (Inglorious Bastards, Kill Bill), the rest are good except Death Proof which should be wiped from history.

Coen Brothers: 3 Masterpieces (Fargo, The Big Lebowski, No Country) 3 Great Movies (Barton, Blood simple, O Brother where art tho?) The rest are mainly good with a few misses.

  • Hey, this is great! Really enjoyed it. Especially since both Tarantino and Coen Brothers are among my favorite movie makers.

  • "No Country For Old Men" alone displays more technical flair than all of Tarantino's films put together. But at the same time, it's Tarantino's posters I'd rather stick on my wall. I think Tarantino is refreshing and more iconic than the Coens, but that's down to his personality and film geekiness whereas Joel and Ethan have achieved their current status through their (highly original) craft alone.

  • @WeEatPubs No..... just no....

  • Tarantino, I might remember certain brilliant scenes. But with the Coens, I remember the brilliant characters. Sure, it's great to see The Bear Jew beat on somebody, but none of that compares to a character as iconic as The Dude. Or, Marge Gunderson. Or, H.I. For me, it's great characters that bring a movie alive -- not great scenes. Love 'em both, but the Coens get the nod. And, by a wide margin.

  • 2:44 What movie is?? The Bullet Colt 45, after of Barton Fink before of Eddie Dane of Miller's

  • Comment removed

  • The Coen brothers are like The Beatles of movies - so inspired. To learn how to connect to the source of inspiration, search "Truth Contest" in Google and click the 1st result, then open The Present and read what it says.

  • The song played during the credits is PianoTrio in E-Flat by Schubert for those who are interested. Great editing by the way!

  • Tarantino's films are entertaining but I just can't respect him as a filmmaker because all he does is sample scenes, shots, and even music from his old favorite films. Everyone is inspired by old films, from The Coens to Martin Scorsese, but if EVERYTHING you do is homage, then I don't see how you deserve to be called the greatest.

Many of his young dumb fans have never seen Once Upon a Time in the West or The Good, The Bad and the Ugly so they think everything Tarantino does is so amazing.

  • @Tigerlily21 You don't sound like a very nice person. "Young dumb fans"? Christ, could you sound any more elitist?

  • @LordVonRembrandt It's not like I'm calling all his fans young and dumb. And unless you are young and dumb and believe Tarantino is so original you shouldn't be offended.

  • Anton Chigurh and Hans Landa the best villians in the history of cinema thumbs up if you agree

  • @iamorur Nah, they don't stand a chance against Gaear Grimsrud and Vic Vega.

  • Anton Chigurh & Hans landa greatest villians in the history of cinema

  • Coen brothers are cool but tarantino is too awesome and respect him too much to prefer them to him

  • Fuck man, this video is jizztastic.

    Greatest compilation ever.

  • What about David Lynch Vs. Terry Gilliam?

  • @SuperNitpicker David no contest. The only person you could pitch against david would be Alejandro Jodorowsky, but he is too obscure for most people to even recognize. Otherwise, any one else would be a completely different style of filmmaker.

  • Tarantino is a good director, and so are the Coen brothers. If i have to pick i will say Tarantino for his entertainment value and The Coen for their engagement and love for their movies. But off course i will by any time choose Kubrick Polanski Lynch as the best directors.

  • hahaha you use the music of barry lyndon in this one and not in the Kubrick one, why??! :P (doesn't really matters, the other one was great too)

  • @jbdrums90 Because I'm kubrickian-insane. I have a problem... =)

  • @LeandroBraga Man...noww that I'm a bit drunk (it's my bestfriend birthday) i can say thatt Kubrick is god

  • Tarantino has Pulp Fiction and Kill Bill. Reservior Dogs in kinda overrated, Death Proof and Jackie Brown I didn't care for, and Inglourios Basterds was a nice return to form. I haven't seen every Coen Brothers movie, but the only one I didn't like was Burn After Reading. Fargo, No Country for old men, Miller's Crossing, The Big Lebowski, & True Grit are all excellent. So I would go for the Coen Brothers.

  • 3:21

    whats the song

  • 3:21

    whats the song?

  • does someone know which is the movie in 6:18 with a cow in a house?

  • @M23MATERAZZI O Brother Where Art Thou-Coen Bros. Great film.

  • @M23MATERAZZI "O Brother Where Art Thou" has the cow on the roof.

  • Coen bros own Tarantiono anyday

  • Too tough to call. Both are legends...and I love both of their films.

  • jackie brown and pulp fiction are better than anything by the coen

  • 2:22 SURPRI- OH, SHIT!

  • I think I have watched this a dozen times, even though, like you, I've seen every one if these movies, some multiple times. Excellent editing.

  • I really cannot decide which filmmakers are better. Both the Coen Brothers & Quentin Tarantino are very intelligent and very creative.

  • Your montages are nothing short of brilliant. I've watched them all and think they're astounding. If you're looking for suggestions, I think a Nolan vs. Fincher video would be phenomenal.

  • Excellent editing skills..Tarantino I feel personally simply is the better director.

  • Where´s Fight Club scenes?

  • @martim130 that's david fincher

  • Great job, very well put video.

  • The Coens win, in my opinion. Did you only use films that Taratino both wrote and directed? No 'True Romance' or 'Natural Born Killers'?

  • Please check out a short Coen Bros. tribute I made /watch?v=6Zm83qrSqDs

I would very much appreciate it =)

Also this video was great, keep em coming.

  • Please check out a short Coen Bros. tribute I made /watch?v=6Zm83qrSqDs

I would very much appreciate it =)

  • My two favorite Directors... i can't decide wish one is the best

  • you didn't kill marvin! otherwise fantastic video.

  • the gun clicking part was sexy

  • Tarantino's a better writer, but the Coen brothers are better directors

  • Tarantino's a better writer, but the Coen brothers are better directors

  • @NillumNaes I disagree. The Coens strongest point is their writing. They can create stories and twisted plots that wow you with their brilliance and originality. Case in point: see Miller's Crossing. Tarantino could never come up with something that clever. He's good at making pop culture references and lingo That's about it.. The Coens would never write crap like the kind Quentin wrote in Death Proof.

  • Tarantino's a better writer, but the Coen brothers are better directors

  • Tarantino's a better writer, but the Coen brothers are better directors

  • I fucking love this so much it makes me cry, I appreciate you put your time in this wonderfull Homage to these great directors. Maybe you could do another one where you use the directors Peter Jackson and Spielberg? Those are Really cinematic movies so i think this will be a really good combination. King Kong, LOTR Trilogy, District 9 and Braindead vs War of The Worlds, Saving private Ryan, Jurassic Park and Schindlers List...

But only if you feel like it :)

  • needs more lebowski ;)

  • @tagadi22 5:10 = Miller's Crossing, 6:08 = Raising Arizona.

  • Coens all the way.

  • qual o nome da musica que eh tocada soh no violão + ou - no meio do video?

  • Next: Nolan vs Aronofsky!!

  • I prefer Tarantino to Cohen(s). But i think Tarantino was much better in his earlier years with Pulp Fiction and Reservoir Dogs. I wasn't too big of a fan of Jackie Brown or Kill Bill Vol. 2. I fell asleep watching Inglorious Basterds.

  • Tarantino and the Coen brothers are the absolute best in the industry. Despite their different styles, I can't see how any true fan of one wouldn't also be a true fan of the other.

  • I love Tarantino...but the Coens are just so much more talented.

  • coen brother are better but tarentinio is more of a kid at heart, so he is just toyingt around with his ,movies. it is really just a hard decision

  • Coens shouldn't be mentioned in the same sentence with Tarantino Hack.

  • The coens are easily the most skilled and brilliant. They will go down as legendary. Think about it, if Tarantino worked and put out as much films as the Coens did, then people would think he sucked because there is no way he would be able to work with such consistency as the Coens do and be that great. He's not even that consistent with the small amount of films he's already made. The Coens are true geniuses. Tarantino is just a pop culture geek and fun for the violence-lovers and hipster nerds

  • The Coen brothers are easily superior and more skilled and talented. Tarantino is mostly all hype and Pulp Fiction with geeky references thrown in there. I like Tarantino too. He's entertaining, but the Coens are geniuses who we should celebrate for being around and giving us so many amazing films year after year.

  • @Tigerlily21 Yeah, well you know, that's just like, uh, your opinion, man

  • @Nerevar1990 lol. Love it!

  • Tarantino's a fantastic director, and "Pulp Fiction" is one of my all-time favorite films. But the Coens take the cake in my book.

  • I love this video! Amazing!

  • I like how the first two songs were from Fullmetal by Kubrick

  • Easy choise, Tarantino.

  • You should add Robert Rodriguez into the mix

  • Kudos to you sir, that was excellent.

  • Tarantino was a one hit wonder... or 2 hit. The Coen Bros are consistent. They dont have one bad movie and they are all very different showing their talent even more whereas Tarantino always tries to be shocking or hip or graphic and seldomly hitting the mark.

  • Would love to see you do Akira Kurosawa vs Sergio Leone.

  • Great stuff. Would love to see Sergio Leone vs Akira Kurosawa.

  • Tarantino by a long shot

  • the title should be "Tarantino + Coen Brothers = Entertainment"

  • what movie is the song at 5:12 used in?

Isn't it the main theme of Kubrick's Barry Lyndon?

  • @littlewonder27 Yep. Sarabande by Handel.

  • what movie is the song at 5:12 used in?

  • was that deniro, what film was that?

  • @darraghandeoin619 Tarantino's "Jackie Brown"

  • @darraghandeoin619 That film was Jackie brown it's a Tarantino film

  • the best movie compilation i've seen so far! great motherfucking job, friendo!

  • nice work

  • please, can anyone tell me what is the name of the song from the begining of this video????

  • @susic10 "These Boots Are Made for Walkin" by Nancy Sinatra .

  • @LeandroBraga Unrelated to this comment, but I think you favor Tarantino a bit more here. Nothing wrong with that, but I also thought you favored Scorsese more in the Kubrick vs Scorsese video, and I was wondering if you were conscious of it, doing it purposely or if I'm just noticing one director more than the other.

  • Excellent video, very good job! I prefer the Coen Bros, but it is always a hard choice
