And the entire tune beforehand sounds like it's set to Turkey in the Straw. It's amazing how Sesame Street was able to incorporate all these sorts of musical and cultural influences into very entertaining bits.
Lol I thought it was the other funny farm song, you know, " They're coming to take me away, haha, they're coming to take me away, hoho, hihi, haha, to the funny farm where life is beautiful all the time" :)
Another of the series featuring Donny Budd (or is it Bud Luckey?). The last few seconds - where the sun turns into a '5' - is to the tune of Edvard Grieg's 'Morning.' Funny, yet good!
Now, what I *don't* know for sure is whether Joe Raposo sang the part of the farmer. Someone told me he did, and to me it does sound like him - but I just can't imagine that somehow! What do you think?
I'm assuming Bud Luckey did the vocals as well as the animation. Joe Raposo was heard on so many different songs that I'm still "finding" his voice after all these years, but I'm going with Bud for this one unless I hear otherwise.
Back in the mid-70s, the Nebraska Cornhuskers mascot looked an awful lot like Donnie here. I figured it was him singing to me when I was a kid :)
