@InspectorLegrasse I thought the point in praising Cthulhu was that, when he comes he'll kill you first. Spares you a lot of pain and torture. So punished is, who lives the longest. You're sure, Cthulhu has that much of a favour for WOW-players? ;)
its hard being a cultist, heros killing you, possible manditory sacrifices and in the end your evil god is most likely gonna kill you to(they always do)
First of all, if they WERE real, chulhu would win. Just looking at him is said to make you die of insanity. The rest would just be killed by his "Chulhuites (at the mountains of madness)". CHULHU IS NOT an elder god, the elder gods were killed by the shoggoths. This is why if chulhu was real there is no one to stop him, as the original things that stopped him are DEAD.
But chulhu is a fictional character in lovecraft books, so there is no worry about the dragons and cthulhu fighting.
I need to read "At the Mountains of Madness". I do know what the Shoggoths are though. But why is he so powerful? I mean, does Lovecraft ever explain how Cthulhu came to be?
Ahh a good question, my dear child. It's a great one to ask my counterpart *motions to a bucket with blood on it* Joe-son, nice lad, I knew him in my prime, but ehh, madness, it's beneath me. I know this is all a dream and one day the dreamer will stop dreaming and I'll be young again... Think I'll be a cowboy in the next dream? Shadow loves cowboys.
I know that. What separates my beliefs from mainstream religion is that I can admit I could be wrong in my beliefs. I do not claim to have the one true answer or the universal identity.

Actually fire is a stereotypical element associated with dragons. It doesn't have to be fire; it can be acid, electricity, poisonous smog, water, etc. And Cthulhu must have some kind of weakness, nothing is perfect.
It is weird that nuclear weapons didn't slow C'thulhu but getting hit with a ship seems to have knocked him cold. I guess he hadn't consulted his astrologer that day ? :D
you know, for some reason, i doubt that. There are several reasons, the first and foremost being the fact that Lovecraft died years before the first atomic bomb. Nothing by Derleth counts, because he understood the concept of the mythos less than most flies. Seriously, he tried to put in good and evil, so anything he wrote about atomic bombs is about as canonical as a fanfic.
Trail of Cthulhu was...enjoyable. I'm not going to deny. I forced myself to ignore the good vs evil/elemental shit Derleth threw in, but his contributions WERE massive. You can't deny the Cthulhu Mythos wouldn't be what it is without him.
But yeah, your sentiments on the atomic bomb ending are mine too.
I know that, but tell me one thing that IS perfect. Perfection is in the eye of the beholder, therefore it varies from individual to individual. Telling me that is a very human way of thinking is type casting people, which is not a good idea.
Dragons are the sons and daughters of fire and air. They may have immunitys to certain substances, or other 'mutations' due to dragons living in that area for one year (evolution) but they wont breathe acid or smog or water or electricity etc.
And you are stereotyping dragons. What you described is a very close minded look at dragonkind as a whole. How do you know that some dragons couldn't have developed a type of sac in the throat that holds a very caustic venom that is capable of eating through flesh and poisoning the victim? That can be called acid. And I actually do not have room in this little comment box to fully explain the logic that will back up my claims to these often supernaturally viewed abilities.
our puny civilization cannot surpass the coming of the great C'thulhu we must rejoice for his coming and pray for his meciless torment across the land
And after all this nice christmassong-covers about the old ones cthulhu raises and says he actually likes metal more

I know a few things that could take down Cthulhu... All you have to do is pick somthing not human.
The United Ones would pull it off. Probably. Depending upon what time period and if they wanted to damage the planet or not...

Now that's impossibly strong, that's completely unrealistic. I've heard of impossibly powerful dragon gods that could most likely match Cthulhu.

You do realize that you can't match religion to religion. I already know that some people would say: Satan would beat them!!1one!!

True, but it is fun to imagine. ^.=.^
