Definitely not a robber fly. They have long legs and fuzzy bodies. These guys are like short ants with katydid type wings. Their abdomens had tiny little colored bands of dark and light. I blew on them and tried to get them to scatter and they wouldnt budge LOL, they just hunkered down from the wind.
Weird! Some kind of robber fly? Yellow or black?
