  • Hello Robin & viewers of this video, I have a request and as this moving story appears to be a good place to reach the people I'm looking for, I hope it's okay that I post here.

I'm an actor & theatre practitioner in London, currently working on a verbatim project on the AMERICAN HEALTH CARE SYSTEM and needing willing participants to share their views & experiences. Please click my Channel for more info. I'm looking forward to hearing from you, Robin, or any page visitor. Thanks.

  • "we don't give a crap about you" ? That's a nice example of american spirit. Don't say "we," because you don't speak for all of us (thank goodness with that level of illiteracy).

Thank you for showing americans what the general reaction is overseas when they find out we don't have healthcare. Its embarrassing, and makes this country look stupid to the rest of the world.

  • We don't give a crap about you. You don't live in america you don't know what goes on. My son is getting denied ABA therapy by the insurance company. He has autism once you get the help you need for them the insurance always wants to screw it up and say that's enough therapy and when they do this my son goes back to bad behaviour again. It's all bullshit.

  • WTF do you care and WTF do you know about American health care? Stick to within your own xenophobic borders. Viva Europa Socialista!

Bjeri me dore duke menduar per Michael Moore.

  • your life is controlled by the government. Have fun in that country.

  • Everyone in Japan has health insurance, too. Any civilized country has universal not-for-profit health insurance. I'll never move back to the US for this reason.

  • Sorry to bother you but just thought you'd like to know that our postings as a response to Michael Moore's plea do get a response. See our good news by going to you tube, typing my name in the search area, Clayton Redfield, and then going to the second choice down which has Michael Moore's picture above the words, SiCKO - Flint Couple Says Moore Saved Home

  • Is the medical insurance provided by government or by private companies? Do people that need to get medical treatment go to private doctors/clinics or to publicly owned clinics? Please clarify. Thanks.

  • The same happens in Holland, health insurance in for everyone. Is en obligation. MUST. I'm going to see the movie, i have to.

  • Well hello mister fancy pants.

  • I sent you a video response with a great Health Insurance idea. Could you please post it in your video responses. It will help

  • Is gov't the only supplier of health insurance in Switzerland or are there competitors? Are they profit based or not? I would suppose not but I just am not very familiar with how other countries do it.

  • The United States needs a healthcare system that covers the poor, the working poor, the young, and the elderly. Dramatic changes need to occur and more people need to be covered because it will be good for our country.

The government should provide healthcare to its citizens for the same reason it provides an education. It makes the entire country better when individuals are smart, healty, and productive.

  • Whatever homo, WHy do you give a shit about america and our systems, you live in fucking switzerland. Also , in a country where they tax 40 to 50% your damn right you should have socialized medicine. Stick to your watches and your chocolates and let the americans worry about america.

  • Yeah, god forbid someone might actually be concerned for someone else. He can't benefit, so he shouldn't help? Is that your logic?

  • Thats right.

  • bitter, party of one..

  • thats witty..

  • The swiss have got alot of things right. Switzerland 1 America 0.

  • vote for ron paul

  • This obese piece of sh*t (moore) dilutes the work of any valid cause with his profit-driven lies.

No U.S. bank has ever handed out rifles for opening an account, & George Bush did not try to destroy the "Only" copy of sicko headed to the Cannes film festival as fat boy alleged.

The corrupt pharmaceutical lobbyists have more integrity than this fat, self-serving, attention whore.

  • Apparently you've never been to Michigan LOL!

  • If do hope a substancial number of people listen to this self serving visionary, so that hard working Americans will no longer be afraid to take their sick babies to see a doctor, or watch an American die in an Emerency Room because no medical personnel would help her. God bless America

  • yeah it's true , in belgium everybody gets quasi free healthcare!! thank god for socialism ;-)

  • i live near detroit and i know people in the health care industry. especially in the inner city there are allot of people with allot of serious health care problems. if someone doesn't have insurance, they are treated still treated and the hospital foots the bill. socializing isn't the answer because anyone who needs a transplant or the like in canada comes across the boarder to get treated here.

  • Libs want to stop the war, great, come up with AN IDEA for the war THEY voted to start. What's their idea, shut it down and let nature take it's course. WOW what a resolution, knowing Bush will veto it, but they get more votes! I would certainly like to hear 1 half decent idea from a lib to help control Iraq. I always liked their "we need to build up their army" but of course pulling ours out while building theirs, genius. Didn't Kerry vow to build up forces in Iraq in 04? Yes.

  • jonnyBravo-you are a smart American, good for you. Someone that actually has a brain. We need to send all the liberals out of this country and get back to what a America stands for before these idiots try and ruin it.

  • I dont think we need to get rid of them, they are fun to watch on TV, like Paris Hilton. Neat to look at and listen too, but they are nothin more then a joke. Libs know they can't come up with a resolution for health care reform, so they go all the way left and just say the gov't should take care of it for us knowing that Bush will veto it, unreal. They never can think within the box.

  • you're drinking the gov't kool-aid mate. open your mind.

  • Wait but are the democrats in power right now? Can't they produce a bill with a resolution that makes sense for health care reform? They sure talked tje talk many times over, but when are they going to put their words in action. They certainly like to say they are going to do wonderful things to win elections, but when reality sets in ...

  • $200/mo that's about what I pay. I also have the ability to make as much money as I wish without any gov't interference or telling how I must spend. Democracies come at a price, so to Socialists, which would you prefer, the ability to be anything or anyone you want to be, or as you state "to be like everyone else". Your used to your way of life, we are used to ours. You can't live the American dream with gov't intervention; this is why the America is and always will be the land of opportunity.

  • Listen, I'm an U.S. citizen living in Switzerland & this fellows little video might mislead people. The reason that the Swiss government insists that everyone must have health insurance is so they won't have to pay the windfall prices for catastrophic illness. They can not, however, refuse to pay for someone who gets very ill here.(If that person has a good lawyer.) There is something in the constitutional charter which says that isn't Christian, and this is a Christian society.

  • well buddy America is not like Switzerland. we're infested with racism, greed and hate.

  • No, we pay 1.5 - 2 month salarie for taxes a year.

The health care cost about 200 Dollar a month.

  • Oh shit! If it were like that in America I would have to pay about $7800 a year. That is more than I have to pay for health care now. I guess it goes to show that there is no such thing as free health care...

  • lol such a simple concept, yet nobody will understand it. Everybody wants free things, but they don't exist.

  • @gunut4FMJ

As I said before, we pay this for taxes.

Health Care costs about $200.00 a month

  • So Swiss pay 1.5-2 months salary for health care. So if as an American single person and you make $50,000 a year you would pay $6250 a year or roughly $500 a month. Wow what a steal for the swiss! Free health care for double the price of what I pay for my private health care insurance. Viva la socialism.

  • Um how many people in the states make 50,000 dollars a year. I dont think it is a vast majority. Private health care may work for you but for the many americans that cant afford it it doesnt. My teacher a PHD in Biology, couldnt afford health insurance for her family with the combined income of her and her husband so they went without it for 2 years and couldnt Too little to afford insurance too much for medicaid= no coverage. A mandatory percentage sounds nice to me

  • Robin, thank you for your perspective. From what I understand, Switzerland's health care system is different from those of all other industrialized nations, and I was hoping you could tell me if this is correct. The system requires individuals to purchase their health insurance and significantly relies on private-although heavily regulated-health insurance companies. It is the second most expensive health care system in the world (after the US) and there are 150,000 to 300,000 uninsured.

  • @jeffaherman

Yeah, that's correct. This companies are private but still regulated by the law. The individuals can chose which company they prefer and what extras they want. It's possible that 150'000 to 300'000 are uninsured, but as soon as they go to a hospital or to the doctor or move into another city, they heave to get insurance. I don't know though, what happens if you don't

  • the netherlands have the exact same system..

  • Switzerland is an amazing country. Not just regarding healthcare... they have a government where the head of each major department is elected, so instead of a president who appoints a bunch of unqualified cronies to positions in areas such as defense, transportation, health, justice as it is in the USA, Switzerland actually gets very qualified people for each major area of society!

  • dude dont listen to michael moore hes an anti american bastard that hates anything american so get a couple opinions not his... and my health care is job included... ppl at mcdonalds got a healthcare plan for christ sakes... so if your in america without health insurance then get a damn job...

  • Many people in th US don't realize that the best insurance someone can have is no insurance. The medical field, hospitals, doctors, etc are obligated to give treatment to people who need it. In addition to that if the person just legitimately prove that they are unable to pay for the services then the providers of the service are obligated to forgive that debt completely. Sometimes someone is the line of able/unable. Send 5 dollars a month and see how long they make you pay.

  • i agree with this dude...there needs to be a change in the us health system

  • We have very good quaility health care in the US. Its not perfect, there is HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS of cases of Medicaid abuses/fraud costing billions every year. This drives up the cost for everyone. Not to mention the BILLIONS lost to healthcare NEVER paid for by "illegals". Regarding switzerland, why not disclose what % of your income goes to pay taxes. Its somewhere in the ballpark of 40 - 50%.

  • We pay around 1.5 - 2 month salaries a year. Depends where you live.

  • Not true. look the info up, its easy to find.

  • Thanks for the video. My wife is pregnant and we have to spend about 200 a month (this is WITH health insurance!!!!)

  • Wow many of you are being real dicks to him. What he said makes sense. He is merely trying to explain what happens in his country.

  • Well, of course they (health care company) make a prosecution first and try to get their money back. After one year without success, they give the judgement note to the wellfare office. The wellfare then pays it for the moment, but still does everything to get their money back. So in the end, you pay anyway. I just think it's good you're obligated to have health care. Btw, everyone can choose to which insurance company they wonna go. We don't have an all state health insurance company

  • you're right we need health insurance for all people. It is very expensive to buy it on your own in the United Staes..one of the richist countries of the world but we cannot provide healthcare for our citizens..go figure?

  • youre just allowing your voice to be heard i don't understand why these people have to leave such rude comments.

  • if i could pick, health care would be universal and education would be a for profit industry.

  • Good thing you cannot pick lol

  • Maybe I didn't make myself clear in the video, sorry.

We don't get free health care. We have to pay around 200 Dollars or more per month. Even if you haven't paid, you'll get treated. If you don't pay for a long time, wellfare will pay it. That's how it is. I know it's bullshit to compare little Switzerland with the USA, but anyway. And yes, I do shake a lot when I'm talking. I'm kind of a nervous guy you know.

  • Ok, so if wellfare will end up paying for your health care, then what's the point of even paying it if your government lets you slip by? Wow, I'd love it if we had that in America.. more ways for people to scam the system and use my tax dollars because they're lazy asses.

  • Your full of crap and have no clue. What is your population? hmm Now compare that to ours you idiot. How many illegals and unemployed do you have in your secular country?

  • As an American I want to apologize and explain that not all Americans are stupid, ignorant morons as epitomized by "bikeme69". We do seem to have more than our fair share. Unfortunately.

  • I have to agree with BSAlert...bikeme69 is a pure idiot. he represents everything that's wrong with America and why we can't really be a great nation.

  • Ok insult all you want. But the fact of the matter is that its not the Govt.'s business to take care of you. I dont know about you but I dont want to live in a Communist country it sounds good. But in the end you lose your rights. It will be a huge money pit for the govt. where private individuals could be making the money. you will be taking many incomes away. Thats not right in anybodys book.

  • None, considering Switzerland's courteous diplomatic relations and lack of foriegn involvement. How many doctors in Switzerland? How many in the U.S.? I'd guess around a 6 to 1 ratio for America. Go suck a bible jackass.

  • lol how come the majority of illegals are coming to the states. why not the great Switzerland, with there great ways of thinking

  • Everyone may get it. Ya its a great thing to give the government more control over your life. Just great, you guys are brain washed in Switzerland just like many Canadians. You just dont get it. Thats why were not a socialist govt.

  • lets hope u dont get ill!

  • If I get Ill I will pay my way out. I am not part of the problem. I am the solution. I dont count on anybody else for anything. Neither should you.

  • I wish Americans would travel more, even if only to other industrialized nations. Limited world view is to blame for much of this ignorance,

If you don't like the example of Europe (AWESOME roads there as well), how about Japan? You know...the second largest economy in the world yet they still offer gov't sponsored healthcare and still remain a flourishing nation.

  • A flourishing nation with twice the suicide rate of almost everywhere else. I have traveled to many places across the world (Like many Americans). After these experiences I feel fortunate to be were I am. I realize that no country is perfect. It is a joke to think that anyone has the answer to all problems. Nothing is free. You will still pay for your health care...along with everyone else's.

  • your comment spurred a curiosity for me. I am wondering if there is a catalogue, perhaps a wikipedia article listing the health care systems of countries around the world. I would like to know more about the univeral health care system of Japan. Perhaps we can form a team of people from around the world to develop a wikipedia article which catalogues the health care sytems (and how they are financed).

  • This guy defines the retarded european.

"It works" "obligated" "mommy government, please feed me - I am feeble"

  • retarded european? well thank you you jurk! here in belgium somebody from another (who just left an airport) who has an accident gets refunded for some of the medical treatment!

  • i live in canada and we get free health care. the states has so many people that thye half to let people die. In switzerland theres less people so they can get everyone to have health care

  • a statistical report reviewed in the movie Sicko discusses that Americans have more diseases and die younger than the people of England. And intuitively that seems very correct. It seems that the people in England are much more, in general, supportive of health creation through holistic, chiropratic, oriental, homeopathic, and other forms of health fostering forms of medical care.

  • I don't believe you that you have health insurance down there when you don't have work for a longer time. I am in Germany and I have no health insurance since 3 months because I quit a training. In my opinion it is a lie that we have a great health system here in europe. And our doctors here are not that good, too, because the good ones go to the U.S. where they get more money. My experiences are that doctors just try something. Well, I could do that on my own with help from the internet...

  • Canada is like that too...maybe that's why Shania likes it in both places. ;)

  • I've been fucked by Canada health care, so, I don't necessarily think Socialized medicare is problem-free.... either way you still are gonna have odd cases (like mine), but ya, I still think social healthcare's better....

With restricted immigration, of course ;)

  • Private healthcare in the states also takes other countries' doctors because they get higher wages.

  • switzaland????? its gay

  • How about we learn to use a microphone and not clip the damned audio there guy.

  • dude , you move alot when you talkin

  • I agree. It is understandable. I left the U.S. for health care and many other reasons. I went to a doctor once in Zurich. It was a much better experience than in the states.
