Sono i migliori. il migliore cantante, il migliore chitarrista, il migliore batterista, un grande tastierista ed un grande bassista. I re del live. dal vivo si superano, sono meglio che in studio.
My opinion: Page is good guitarist and one of most known, whence he was in Led Zeppelin. And Blackmore is less known, mostly from Rainbow (my opinion) When Painbow were doing most known their concert - in Munich, I couldn't do same tings what Blackmore done. For me Blackmore is greatest with smallest poblicyty.
@drockkclapton hey, page has never played like Blackmore, Blackmore never played like Page.
I wouldn't compare humans. I wouldn't do this. It has something to do with taste and your allowed to have your own "good" taste. Nice taste, but I don't agree=)
@americagoesDOWN I somewhat agree, but Page got so much more publicity, and is now heralded at least annually on the cover of Guitar World, while Ritchie is practically an unknown unless you are a guitar enthusiast. Page was good at his thing, but there are a billion more minions like you who are ready to jump in and say that the Heartbreaker solo wasn't shit, while the people who recognize the artistry of Highway Star are few and far between. I respect Page, but blackmore is so underrated
@drockkclapton Page got more "publlcity" cuz he's a better songwriter. and riff composer . hooky riffs, and the epic solos, the breaks which are to me,way more than half of what Zep songs are.also the vocal parts, are, on the whole,pop/hookier than most of deep purples.Zep songs, so many, are so much more popular, so yes he gets way more press, even to this day as you said.(Hiway star solo is near perfect, but the song ?usually not on the top 100 greatest rock songs lists. that s the diff.)
Respond to this video... Page changed rock guitar. everybody recognizes the "smoke on the water" riff. but page, with his sound and riffs he did on "heartbreaker" and just the opening chords of "whole lotta love". if you were around then, trying to play guitar ( i was) and you heard that shit for the first time, you recognized it was completely new, and you were stunned by the power. nothing like it at the time (even hendrix) he wrote the book for metal guitar in about 12.45 of music.
@markmarktarmann Yes,Page is a great guitarist..But his playing and sound compared to Blackmore's are shit!!Page is only a great studio player..Blackmore is great in the studio and live!!Blackmore and the rest of DP made the sound of the Hard Rock!!Blackmore's inprovisation is awesome!!And Bleckmore started first using fourts in the riffs!!And he combines Hard Rock with Blues!! !!Blackmore's playing in the 70s and 80s was way more advanced than Page's!!
@cakodeeppurplei saw deep purple winterland in 73.i only remember the great riff driven "highway star" the tightness of the drummer.then i couldn't critique blackmore's soloing.i've only seen vids of page live, he's pretty sloppy. as u say, blackmore is pretty clean.but page is a riff making genius.that&the sound he created way before all the magazine covers. all those riffs& the playing too! he still had to actually play it! even if in a studio.they all combined blues/rock.clapton hendrix etc
@cakodeeppurple w/the quality of the..er..refreshments that were being passed around,i couldn't have articulated it then but now as a jazz/blues pianist/ improviser (and "studio" guitarist) i know exactly what you are talking about re: the "hiway star" solo. he builds&builds the tension with that one riff. it works, but, now after the 1000th time listening 2 it on classic rock radio, it gets on my nerves. too repetitive"ok ritchie. nice riff, nice idea now open it up play some blues dammit."
@americagoesDOWN Right on man. and don't get me wrong. I love Zep. The real point I was trying to get across is that Purple (in America anyway) are terribly under-appreciated. I only compare them to Zeppelin, because Zeppelin was so popular here in the day (before I was born.) Zeppelin II is easily in my top 5, but so is Machine Head. Furthermore, I've met Zep fans who are astounded that I don't give a flying fuck about Presence. Zeppelin is not a religion to me. lol
@drockkclapton ''Blackmore played solos Page couldn't touch.'' sorry? I think ur dad said '' Page is guitar god and he never interest with prayers solos'' and you understand it Page cant play?

ian's screams remind me of uriah heep songs - this song is much like "Time To Live"from the "Salisbury" album, only the melody is prettier. @phan777tom well,at least I have a while to keep educating my teenage daughter on what was. she actually has gotten turned on to The Sweet and other assorted groups, but I have yet to convince her that a lot of the heavier stuff is also worth listening to.
Sounds like something from Deep Purple's first line-up with Rod Evans and Nick Semper but maybe that is natural when this was the first song with Ian Gillan on vocals. Great song! Going into favorites for sure!
Jon Lord has said that the breakup (and fighting) of Mark II is the greatest shame in rock n' roll. If things had continued in the beginnning god knows where it could have gone. And this is coming from Jon Lord himself. Now, I like all of Deep Purple's work (more or less) but still wouldn't have said no to a few more classic Mark II albums.
Hard to believe this classic was penned by Roger Cook and Roger Greenaway (David & Jonathan). I have this in my collection by Joseph Ward and titled "I Am The Preacher". Any other versions out there?
I don't think Deep Purple Version is Better than Blind Guardian Version. They are Both PERFECT. But of course, everyone likes different things. I think that Blind Guardian's Version is a lil' better. only a Little. Deep Purple Music is PERFECT too. But Hansi Voice is a little Better.
great, didn't knew that a vid exists!!! 1st recording with Gilan and Glover!!! Famous Mark II was about to reign the world.... very soon they made DP In Rock...
@randomandwelldone I always wondered about this single and what the flip side was .I didn't know it existed.until i bought singles a and b album. Kinda like Ian and Roger you new guys are you up to it. Next is a Concerto for group and followed by In Rock. They asked so much of Gillian and Glover, but it turned band around.
This song doesn't seem to be one of their more popular ones. But It's one of my top 10 favorites. Blackmore's bends, vibratos, and pull-offs really make this song in my opinion.

This song makes me shiver - Deep purple were just as good as Led zeppelin in my opinion and they deserve to be just as famous.
I love Ian Gillan but I don't agree with his (scream at all times) style. I think he was not even close to the magic Ritchie and Jon put together.
