  • 1:48 :)

    U.S.A !

  • canada gayyyy ay

  • @Sman081999 toews is gay?

  • -.-

    ok.

  • 2:22 the guy with the sparklers. that' how we do it in chi town

  • I respect the blackhawks passion and if i would take a trip to chicago and go to a hawks game i would feel the united center rocking and shaking also have chills in my spine during the national anthem Go Flyers

  • impossible to watch without getting chills

  • Huge hockey here this is really the strangest thing i have seen fans cheering during the star spangled banner is SO wrong still its awasome Go Flyers

  • Comment removed

  • 11 terrorists watched this video.

  • There are few sports traditions greater than hearing both national anthems at a cross-border game. Hawks fans cheering during The Star-Spangled Banner is one of them.

  • @PhilGoesHollywood I was born in 96 they've done it for my whole like. Forever in my life so STFU you POS

  • huge red wings fan here thats the coolest thing ever. keep it up chi town. all you need now is a huge american flag going around the rink like at the Canadian games. thats how original six does it!

  • @cjszwed Hawk fan here. Original 6 all the way.

  • @Cap285 Only the best team in Chicago and in all of sports!!!!!! BLACK AND RED BABY ORIGINAL SIX!!!!!!!!

  • @BLOCK19PRODUCTIONS I miss Chicago Stadium! So many memories! 1989 St. Louis Norris final, Campbell final against Calgary! I was there. Savard, Secord and Larmer!

  • @Cap285 Oh u were lucky growin up watchin Denny Savard, Gilmour, Chelios. I grew up watching Kyle Calder and those guys but they weren't that good but i still was a die hard Hawks fan even though they had some very rought seasons.

  • @BLOCK19PRODUCTIONS I remember those seasons. When they traded Roenick (I am a huge fan of JR). The Zhamnov years. The slump. They turned it around though. The Madhouse on Madison was an experience all it's own. We're all Hawk fans just the same regardless of era and building. Mikita, Hull, Magnuson, etc.

  • @Cap285 Karpotsev, Bell, Arnason, they were in a serious slump after their 2002 playoff run. Up until about 2008 is when they started to be worth watching (i still watched them and supported them). I cant believe u like JR, ur one of the very Hawk fans who actually liked JR hes good, but he was way too cocky at times.

  • @BLOCK19PRODUCTIONS I did like JR. Watched him from his rookies season to the trade. I suppose he could be cocky at times. Thought he was great. But, that's why Steve Larmer is my favorite ever. No nonsense, could shoot off the pass second only to Jari Kurri, 80 points a season. My hockey number has been 28 since I was eleven years old. Steve is my hero.

  • @Cap285 Damn i wish i could have been around to go to the Old Barn.

  • Lmao at all the people who say its disrespectful to cheer during the anthem, that is why all the people who fight for this country say they love it, go hawks!!

  • Soooooo proud to be a die-hard Hawks and live in this wonderful city!! God, i love goin to the UC and watch my fellow Hawk fans erupt whenever Jim sings the National Anthem. #88 PKANE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Sometimes when I get down on America and all the problems we have... THIS MAKES ME SOOOOOO PROUD.

  • I would love to go to a Blackhawks game. The atmosphere seems electric. Though I'm a Sabres fan, I would definitely root for Chicago against any team other than Buffalo. The National Anthem at The United Center sends chills down my spine.

  • wow, This american sings O Canada better than any Canadian anthem singer ive ever heard. totally old school, perfect

  • Jay Cutler would even get fired up if he heard this........

  • Comment removed

  • this guy needs to sing the National Anthem at every super bowl from now till the end of time forget all them other losers who try to sing

  • As a Hawks fan I hate Vancouver even more than I hate Detroit.

  • @Livelifechill Dude...you can't be serious. I mean don't forget all the times that detroit kicked chicago's ass thanks BIll Wirtz' mismanagement. Draw on that anger. Anyway, not that Rocky is running the team, it's time for a little payback.

  • @Livelifechill so do I my friend.. and I think almost every hawks fan feels the same way....

  • @Livelifechill Haha im gonna have to put up with the ignorant "Nuck" fans tmrw at teh United Center cuz they play the Ca-fucks tmrw. IMA BE THERE!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @Livelifechill me too! isnt that crazy dude?? something about them is just HATEABLE!!!!

  • @Livelifechill Same here, I can at least respect Detroit for playing a classy style of hockey built on good defensemen and strong two-way forwards. Their style of play reminds me of the Hawks style. The Canucks are a bunch of classless thugs who play like Matt Cooke and dive like Cindi Crosby.

  • @IDF1987 Cindi Crosby! You said it!

  • @Livelifechill Yay the Bruins demolished them!

  • When the Maple Leafs were owned by the late Harold Ballard, the only anthem played before a game at Maple Leaf Gardens was the Canadian anthem

  • When the Maple Leafs were owned by the late Harold Ballard, the only anthem played before a game at Maple Leaf Gardens was the Canadian anthem

  • incredible! If you don't get chills watching this, theres something wrong. I really want to experience this first hand!

  • @hockeyplayernumber4 "they've done it forever"....... try since 1985..... Bandwagon fan..... Learn your team before your support them

  • @PhilGoesHollywood wow...1985 is a stretch for bandwagon fans ain't it? how'd it go for the Flyers in '97 and '10? again?

  • best version of the National Anthem. ANY SPORT,ANYWHERE.!!

  • for those of you saying that that is disrespectful. Answer this... Is it disrespectful to CHEER FOR YOUR COUNTRY???... SMDH

  • Every pop singer on earth should hear this and learn from it!

  • Why is the Canadian Anthem played at hockey games? simply cuz hockey was created there? I've never bothered to check haha

  • @btowndawgz2 They only play it in US arenas when the visiting team is a Canadian team. Likewise, it is played in Canadian arenas when a US team visits. In Montreal the dirtbags boo it despite the fact they have more US players than any other NHL team and the fewest Canadian players on their team. Fuck the Habs and their fans.

  • @btowndawgz2 Because a Canadian team is playing them...duh

  • I remember when we almost came back in this series. I love Jim though. Best national singer ever! Chicago FTW.

  • Wish there had been an organ at the Bears/Falcons game today when he sang it.

  • I feel like when he sings this song, he's telling all of the America haters who are ashamed to fly the flag to just fuck off. And I'm okay with that!

  • An announcer said if you didn't get chills when watching this, then you have no pulse. This is amazing! He is a great singer!

  • Comment removed

  • Do people applaud because it is near impossible for the average person to sing the Star-Spangeled Banner? That's not a knock to the anthem or the US. It's a great anthem, but the notes are so hard to get and I don't think most people can sing it as easily as they can 'O Canada'.

  • I love hearing this live. I had the pleasure of meeting him and he said that he still gets choked up every time he performs. I think a good indicator of his focus is when he told me he doesnt even remember when he noticed that the flag 'waves' at the end

  • this was hard to listen to....

  • I love how the Canuck fans sing O'Canada. All they need is some one to get them started. It is so cool and i am a Hawk fan. I think we do it best for American anthem. This is the best. Go Hawks.Hey When are the Canucks going to get a goalie?

  • Note to Vancouver fans: He sings TWO anthems here, not half an anthem.

  • @kingslice75 lol

  • @kingslice75 LOL!

  • wen u hear this in person you have the biggest chill run down your back and goosebumps.... these videos dont even come close to how amazing it is in person!!!!!! one of the best parts about going to the game

  • 1:46 is where the video should start :D

  • @VancouverChokers im sorry to tell you but the vancouver canucks could sweep the avs

  • Im a Sabres fan that is extremely jealous of this.

  • This guy is unmatched!!

  • Damn this guy sounds like he should be singing the Russian national anthem. Just horrible.

  • I dont think it is disrespectful if you cheer at your own stadium, but when your fans visit other stadiums and cheer during the national anthem when that host city does not, that is VERY DISRESPECTFUL!

  • better than most US arenas...but next time sing it not cheer to it...?

  • This is NHL!

  • @kamloopsblazers1 And you are an idiot who wouldn't know talent if it bit you on your big fat sloppy ass.And what in the hell is a 'kamloopblazers'? Not that rag team from Portland?

  • @kamloopsblazers1 Not worse than the Vanloser Cafuckups. Second rate team, second rate fans. Do you guys ever act with any respect?

    - Avs fan

    Oh and Cornelison is awesome

  • HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY, CHICAGO!

  • this is 100 percent pure awesomnes

  • Only bad part about this is that most Chicago fans would be pissed if another US city did this

  • @goldendome10383 yea cause its our thing to do. we started it.

  • am I the only one who thinks this guy looks like Brett Favre?

  • rofl the canucks singer for anthem is so shit

  • Oh dear God please help me.. This is SO

  • well the good news is the roof is still attached lol

  • mark donnelly for vanc looks like the penguin sounds like him too

  • Mark Donnely, take fucking notes, this is the fucking Maestro !!!!!!!

  • @MaharishiMahaYogi The Canucklehead fans have to sing because Donnely can't.

  • I wish Jim Cornelison would sing at all the hockey events in Canada. I must say he did a great rendition of our national anthem and some people really do a crappy job at it.

The Star-Spangled Banner was just amazing and you can really feel the pride in the United Center (with the cheering and whatnot).

Greeting from your neighbor to the north!

  • @Debussy07 THANK YOU! Thats a compliment to our country. And yeah Jim Cornielson's a legend here at the UC and so is Gene Honda (PA Announcer) and Pat Foley ( Play by play commentator for CSN, and WGN Chicago Networks. Gene Honda also P.A. announcer at the Cell for the Sox games and the starting line-ups.

  • how the hell did that guy get sparklers into there?

  • Eddie Olcyzk should've taken Jim Cornelison on the road with him throughout the playoffs after the Black Hawks were done so the fans wouldn't be put to sleep in Vancouver by that old guy that looks like Orville Redenbachers Grandpa, and the other one that looks like Ron Jeremy twitching like he's having drug withdrawals.

  • Holy shit. This mans voice. Amazing..

  • @tapwada It's a tradition for the Blackhawks to cheer for the American National Anthem, they've done it forever and will do it forever its awesome and I love it, I don't think its disrespectful at all.

  • @hockeyplayernumber4 If everyone had the chance to witness it first hand there wouldn't be any objections. Wayne Messmer and Jim Cornelison are probably two of the most famous anthem singers in the country because of Chicago!

  • wow, it takes an american to sing the Canadian anthem properly, that was total old school , none of this r&b crap versions. that was tight, great job.

  • @tapwada As Americans we have a bad habit and that's that nobody sings along with the anthem. Staying silent is even worse, its just says "whatever I don't care, get to the game". The Hawks tradition of cheering is what all Americans should do if they don't sing. By cheering your cheering on your country. Jim Cornelison is commonly singing it now at other Chicago events and the fans are cheering. I hope it becomes not just a Hawks tradition but a Chicago then a nationwide tradition.

  • @southparkfan2717 I agree. I don't understand how any true patriots can call it desrepectful to show pride in your country by cheering. Using silence is away to mourn the dead and our country is not dead no matter how many terrorist attack. Lets show our pride during the national anthem and cheer loud enough that the Taliban can hear us.

  • Going to hawks games, this is my favorite part every time.

  • an incredible singer and an incredible team. this is UNFAIR lol.. still love the hawks

  • PLEASE COME TO DALLAS AND SING OUR NATIONAL ANTHEM

  • @slabofmeatonface Jim stays in CHICAGOO

  • I always hit mute when they do the anthems. I always thought it was stupid that they do anthems before games. What's the point? At the WJC/Olympics the winner gets their anthem played that makes sense as sort of a reward for winning. In the NHL though it's just a big waste of time.

  • This is how the anthem is supposed to be sung.

Jim Cornelison should be invited to sing our anthem when it matters - yes, at the Superbowl - every time!!

  • This guy is fucking awesome..

  • Comment removed

  • Damn... I think it would sound so much better without the organ playing... just singing

  • this national anthem sucks

  • jimcornelisonfans-dot-com

  • *watches the decibel meter start to peg as the rafters begin to shake and the 2nd and 3rd tier bowls start to bounce up and down*

    Yep. It's chicago :)

  • @lethalkiller

Oh no u got me wrong I wasn't talking bout all canadians. Just the Montreal Canadiens fans who boo. Seems like all of them lol. Funny how they cheer Canada years after their failed request to become their own country lol nonetheless not all are bad. Maybe even just for fun. Take care of urself. Go North America! Lol

  • Better than rebbeca black

  • @stipenforthreee Gee that says a lot.

  • This guy is totally overrated. He's mainly yelling into the mic.

  • Even if you don't like the cheers at least they're not showing disrespect to smothers country by booing the other countries national anthem like in Montreal CA. If you consider this disrespect you're fuckin high and accustomed to what's just a norm. As long as there's pride and love i don't see how this is wrong.

  • @NaturalSin22 What happened in Montreal shouldn't be seen as a disgrace for all of Canada. It was one of the most embarassing moments for us but shouldn't be attributed to all Canadians. And yeah I agree the cheering is fine, it's happiness and pride.

  • To everyone complaining about how we cheer through the anthem or attempting to make some bs argument that Chicago or Illinois isn't patriotic, you are sorely mistaken. But you know what they say: opinions are like tampons, every pussy has one.

  • I personally don't think there is anything more patriotic than this. And to everyone bashing Chicago or Illinois, or feel this is disrespectful: opinions are like tampons, every pussy has one. GO HAWKS!!!!

  • GO CANUCKS!

  • When Jim Corneilson signs the anthem and 23,000 fans cheer on during the anthem at the United Center, there is no doubt Blackhawks fans are the most patriotic fans in the entire United States. Despite I live in Southeast Wisconsin, I am proud to be part of the big legion of Blackhawks fans who live and breathe the tradition of this storied franchise and has a true sense of patriotism .

  • @mehlhaff5 people from chicago are some of the biggest liberal hippies in the world, and they dont support the troops. I lived there most of my life and Im an Iraq War Vet. I moved out of IL becuase of how much grief I got for serving in the military. Very few of these people are what I would define as "patriotic"

  • @usmcgunner58 You lived in the city, didn't you? A lot of the West Suburbs(Naperville, Elgin, etc) have a lot of patriotism.

  • @Westilchester bullshit. I lived in St. Charles. I was asked to leave the high school when a teacher wanted me to talk to a class because he, "didn't want the students to be talked to by a murderer." - exact quote.

  • @usmcgunner58 ......your right in thinking that that is utter bullshit. it totally is. NEVER have I heard someone say anything even remotely similar to that. I have friends who disapprove of Iraq and Afghanistan, but they wouldn't say a damn thing bad about the troops.

  • @Westilchester it happened all the time. Most common question I got, "You were in the military? Didn't do well in high school? Couldn't afford college?" When I told them I got accepted to WIU, ISU and UWSP and could've gone to any of them and could easily afford it but instead I joined because of patriotism, they would look at me like I had a dick coming out of my forehead. I got sick of it and moved to the middle of nowhere Wisconsin and I've never been so happy.

  • @usmcgunner58 You shouldn't categorize everyone from IL or Chicago to be unpatriotic just because the people you came across in that area were disrespectful. Thank you for your service, everyone should be thankful for what the troops do for us.

  • @rachelx1129 People in southern IL are diehard supporters of the troops, I'll give them that. But I got spit on in Chicago for being an Iraq War Vet. Almost everyone I met who found out I went to Iraq said, "Im sorry", not "Thank you." I left for a reason.

  • @usmcgunner58 Well, that's just disrespectful and I'm sorry that happened to you. It's a shame.

  • @rachelx1129 it happened more than once. The phrase "murderer" came out plenty of times as well. Again, I left Chicago for a reason and I'm never going back. People there care about their money and thats it.

  • @usmcgunner58 Not cool. I can't believe people would be so disrespectful.

  • @rachelx1129 everyone is always so suprised when I talk about this stuff, like its unbelievable. Just look at some of the bumper stickers when you're driving around. I got flipped off all the time for having an Iraq Campaign Veteran Liscense Plate. I was asked to leave my old high school when an old teacher asked me to talk to the students about my experience. The principal asked me to believe because, "I dont want the kids talking to a murderer." Exact quote.

  • @usmcgunner58 Well I don't live in Chicago, I live in Central IL and everyone here is super patriotic and supportive of the troops. I can't believe that guy had the gall to say that though, wow.

  • @usmcgunner58 Im from the NW suburbs, and I for one thank you for serving our country. Im sorry there are so many dicks that live here.

  • @usmcgunner58 Minor league kids. Should have seen all those liberal, college, Jane Fonda ass lickers from the 60's when the boys come home from Viet Nam. They got treated like scum and nobody gave a shit about all those in the VA hospitals all shot up. Now those same liberal Jane Fonda assholes are running this once great nation into the ground. Oh ya, I live in Chicagoland, born and raised inner city, and this guy does the anthem proud.

  • my girlfriend is a blackhawks fan, so i might get in trouble for saying this, but ever since i've started dating her and watched blackhawk's games w/ her, i just hate when they clap and cheer during the national anthem. i was raised to show my respect by being quite during our national anthem. i just shake my head when i hear the cheering and clapping...i may be the only one who feels this way, but i just had to get it off my chest.

  • The Canda national anthem is pretty awesome! Not gonna lie.

  • holy fuck, that was great

  • do these clowns not know the words to their own anthem?

  • wheres the giant octopus?

  • @kovelev that's detroit's thing.

  • this is pretty shit, no singing just going yeah fuck yeah, some guy just about singing, how do you put up with this, watch a game of football at the world cup and the roof is blown off with national anthems singing

  • aren't sparklers indoors dangerous? and he's holding them above 2 peoples heads, he could have lit their hair on fire.......go hawks, they're in trouble this year...they needed to keep dustin some how, he was the one they couldn't replace

  • @cgord lol no they aren't. Kane+Toews+Hossa+Sharp= Stanley Cup

  • @hockeyfan2015 5 days later, and your team is about to go down!

  • Props to the Blackhawks for singing our National Anthem PROPERLY. But the Canucks are still gonna wax you this year.

  • This is how it should be sung! so pure! GO HAWKS AND JIM CORNELISON!!!

  • Hawks will just barely get into the playoffs this year, but that doesn't mean they can't bring the cup back for another year. Go Hawks!

  • This is my dads like best friend he is an amazing opera singeer sont make fun of him

  • He and Rene Rancourt are the best anthem singers.....peroid

  • this guys incredible!

  • I saw this in person against florida it was awesome!!!

  • the UC is the only place they cheer during the whole thing.

  • I do wish this would happen at more sporting events....or start the tradition of singing our Anthem whenever and wherever it's played. I'm proud of this country, and glad that Chicagoans do this for every Blackhawks game. And continue on!

  • @bigjames02 We Will

  • Every year at the end of the 4th of July fireworks show, in every city I've been in. I've seen the huge ending where they play the National Anthem and shoot off a huge load of fireworks while proud Americans cheer. If it's disrespectful to cheer during the National Anthem, We must be one big disrespectful country.

  • @marilyn007manson1 Na..It shows the respect we have for our country.

  • @SixSalVal To me silence is more of a way to show respect for the dead. No matter how many terrorists attack this country, We are still alive and cheering from the top of our lungs showing the pride we have for our country during the National Anthem.

  • @marilyn007manson1 There time for silence....When they ask for a moment of silence....Yes do that and it shows respect but since the stadium (now the nation center) been open...They always done that there. That show how much respect is shown there.....over the years people keep doing it.

  • YOU CHICAGO BLACKYHAWKS FANS R VEWY DISWESPEKTIFULL TO DA UNITID STATES OF AMMIRIKA!

  • I think it's only disrespectful to cheer during the anthem if the cheering is too loud to hear the anthem. But the UC has the ability to crank up the volume so everyone can hear it over the fans cheering.

  • @marilyn007manson1 It's disrespectful to cheer for the greatest country in the world during the greatest anthem in the world? That makes sense... You must be a terrorist.

  • @Mordancy11 Then the millions of Black Hawks fans divided by the 22,000 at each game must also be terrorist too. I'm betting Sadam Hussein and Osama Bin Laden probably never cheered during Americas National Anthem just like you. That must make them good citizins. You sound like you were raised by George Bush, I guess us evil doers should also stop cheering during the national anthem that they play at the end of fireworks shows every 4th of July too. They cheer in every city across the USA.

  • @marilyn007manson1 You're retarded.. lol

  • @Mordancy11 Is that your comeback? lol. I prefer to be called mentally challenged.

  • 2:22 How did a guy get sparklers into the arena?

  • @bigjames02 I wasn't searched and hadn't seen anyone else being searched at the United Center 2 years ago when I went. It's probably pretty easy to take sparklers in.

  • Comment removed

  • since when does cheering during the anthem make you unpatriotic? watch the anthem during the 1991 all star game... it was broadcast live to the soldiers at war and the cheering was a tribute to them. you know their reaction? they loved it.

  • @MrDokHolliday True. I think old people just have a hard time accepting new things.

  • I think it's cool that Chicago fans cheer during the SSB! LOL!

  • The only thing that would make this better, if is they could open up the roof of the united center and have a big ol' stealth bomber or F16/18/22/35s Fly over full afterburner and buzz the game. That would be amazing.

Still one of the best and moving ways to present the national anthem...Gives me goosebumps every time I go watch a game.

  • @holtws It would be even cooler if one of them stealth bombers shot pucks out of a machine gun at the visiting team lol.

  • Chicago being classless as always.
