american guy want to work on a factory? I don't think so.... if this "stop outsourcing" will happen i dont think if other country will like america anymore. Asian or Middle East Country will close the trade for America, if "stop outsource" will happen and there will be no product or services for them to sell from other country anymore. The Trade Will be Transfer from Asia. There will no more world trade center for america. THIS JUST MY OPINION....
How can you oppose technology progress? It's better to use a bulldozer instead of a shovel. Just as it's better to use the Chinese instead of doing any work yourself. Outsourcing is like switching from manual labor to machines.
If we want to thrive in the future economy, we have to get better skills, and get better education. It is that simple. Some US companies do not have integrity; they do not care about the communities they live in, or want to invest in thier workers, or pay taxes for better schools, and therefore more innovative workers for them in the future. They are taking the easy way out, tapping into the 500 million educated Indians that work for 200 per month. Ruining their culture in the process.
REMEMBER A FEW WEEKS AGO? IT WAS A FEW WEEKS AGO THAT THE REPUBLICAN PARTY KILLED A BILL THAT WOULD HAVE TAXED CORPORATIONS OUTSOURCING! ASK YOURSELF HOW THAT HELPS UNEMPLOYED! AND MANY WANT TO BRING IN MORE REPUBLICANS IN NOVEMBER?? WHEN YOU VOTE REMEMBER WHO IS ALLOWING YOUR POTENTIAL JOBS GOING OVERSEAS!
9000 wtf??? now thats just fd up... wow im abit amazed at obamas answer... i think we should be more like the japanese they make sure not to outsource everything to china
Let me tell you...IBM has decimated it's US work force by laying off knowledgeable, highly skilled, experienced and hard working employees. And to add insult to injury, they force them to train their overseas replacements, or else they don't get a separation package. The overseas workers are nowhere near competent and have a completely different work ethic from the US that is incompatible with getting anything done efficiently, effectively and with quality. IBM executives should be ashamed.
Obama is full of crap...corrupted. IBM is laying off high paying US jobs and hiring low paid overseas workers. A year later, IBM is still off-shoring jobs and Obama is still in denial. Audacity of hope? AH HA HA HA HA! Barry Obama is a big big disappointment. Shame on you Mr. Obama. There is a special place in hell for people like you. People who use the pretense of "Hope" for political ends. And I thought politicians could get no lower.
Navistar recently outsourced IT jobs to IBM. Some of the people affected will be "rebadged" as IBM employees - others simply let go. This includes people who have been with the company for many years. We all know that eventually, IBM will let these people go and replace with cheap Indian labor. THANKS IBM and NAVISTAR!
When I started at IBM, 70% of the workforce was in America. When I was laid off from IBM in February, less than 30% of the IBM workforce was located in the US. IBM holds itself out to be committed/dedicated to America and it's economy. The numbers don't support the official position. IF tax dollars should even go to private companies, it should be to those creating new jobs in the US. We're going to end up with a real crises in the US if we continue down a path of zero job growth.
@westtexasred, there's something wrong with americans who are complaining about giving subsides only to those creating jobs locally, I mean in the USA. While american capitalism was the most powerful around, american ego seemed so satisfied of U.S. corporates ranks, all flags unfurled and flying even abroad. Now US worker can't keep the pace and at the same game feels trapped. Giant corporates have nothing to care about where workforce is. Their goal is making money with or without govt helps.
I love this quote. I love how Lou Dobbs spins it. Obama doesn't say stop outsourcing, he says reward companies who don't outsource.
Also, past evidence has shown that outsourced jobs can create new jobs. Delta outsourced 1000 jobs in 2003 and then introduced 1200. IBM outsourced 3000 jobs and introduced 4500.
P.S. The president doesn't actually have as much power as you'd like to think he does.
@Ict7111980, your post scriptum is GREAT! Congrats!
Even if a US president is an institution, as any institution his power has limits too. Right!
Your figures concerned the past (2003). After 2007 and the financial crisis, things have slightly ;) shifted. The balance is no more what you described, it really got worst (depending on which side you're standing) for american applicants.
When George W. Bush visited India as president in 2006 he said....."AMERICA IS NOT AFRAID OF COMPETITION".
Now in 2009 i ask this to any american who is reading this comment. " ARE YOU AFRAID OF COMPETITION" ? If your answer is "NO". then you know what to do next...But if your answer is "YES", then go take a good look at yourself in the mirror and say it to yourself.
You: " They have given enough money to india and india wants more "
Me: They have not given.......as in FREE. India and indians have earned it......They worked for it.....Success is always rewarded..no matter where you live in this world.
we locals have done enough hard work and taken blame at our expense...you delusional and think you work hard..how hard? how hard to you work when you turn up 4 hours late to work everyday..the most famous of excuses..i have uni!! we locals work 100 times more harder and more honest..why we don't get rewarded?

@Womaaahn Like the good old capitalists, what they did right now is just pure opportunity. Well, all companies in this world only want opportunity.

Q : are they communist or capitalist?
A : opportunist
amolsagar 1 year ago
@amolsagar Neither...they're greedy. Just ask any IBM executive what kind of yearly salary they make, the amount of their bonuses...it's obscene.
