Everytime I visit Gettysburg, I feel called to this house. I visited on July 3, 2011 (anniversary of her death) and took the 9pm tour. An unknotted key chain that hung loosely out of my pocket had a perfect slip knot in it when I left. I still have that key chain and carry it on me. Additionally, I have photographed the face of a young girl staring out of the window of the house at me back in January 2011. I have seen the blue water pitcher rocking back and forth at 6:44.
As the battle rages. Jennie Wade was in her kitchen preparing dough when a stray bullet camed into her house and killed her instantly. Confederate soldiers buried her in a coffin that was prepared for one of their fallen officers. She was just 20 years old when she died. Very tragic.
