John, I well remember forcing myself to change my 'G' chord after about ten years of playing. Not fun, but well worth the trouble. Sure wish I'd had you around back then!
You know, somehow or other I learned this early on in my life. Besides playing guitar, I play a bunch of other stringed instruments and I think my fingers were trained to play any chord with any set of fingers because of all the tunings I knew. Then there was the fact that I was working on Chet Atkins stuff by the time I was 14 and you just have to be flexible about fingerings when working on stuff like that. Anyway, I'm glad I learned it early and am happy to pass it along to others! - John
