I think San Antonio is maybe 6 months behind southern CA. But things arent looking good over here either. Some little places are hiring, like cheap restaurants. Places that offer bigger bang for the buck are doing ok. The last gun show was sorta weak. Get what you can, while you can!

Where I live. Brand new strip malls have been sitting vacant for almost a year now (to the best of my knowledge). I saw a Fresh and Easy go up, doors open, then black drapes went up covering all the windows about a month later.
I should film what my town is turning into. Same thing here. Retail stores are dying left and right. All of our strip malls have at least half of the spots vacant. I have seen probably 5 different businesses open within the last 6 months and already close. One strange thing is the TYPE of businesses that seem to be opening. 99% of them are clearly going to fail... like a new "mom and pop" gym... wth were those people thinking lol

But we've also had building projects continue, & now that the economy is turning around more building is going up.

Hey George. An update from TX. It seems nearly everywhere is having deep sales, 20%-70% off, or two for one deals. Some places are having store closures as well.
I think San Antonio is maybe 6 months behind southern CA. But things arent looking good over here either. Some little places are hiring, like cheap restaurants. Places that offer bigger bang for the buck are doing ok. The last gun show was sorta weak. Get what you can, while you can!

They got this place going up in New Jersey called Xanadu and it is probably going to be a huge bust come this Summer. I can't wait to see what happens. I fear the worst for them.

Your stories have really improved over the last month - nice job. Out of curiosity what are the businesses in that shopping center that are still in business? Also be interesting to note over the coming months which additional places close - any rhyme or reason to it (ie grocery store closes last... ?) You should do a follow up on this.

That half-constructed building looks like a fun place to play for a kid, but too bad there's a fence around it. On weekends, I used to play at house construction sites when I was a kid. As for all those empty offices, I'm surprised no one has stolen all that furniture an office equipment. All that stuff is certainly worth something.

We had the same kind of deserted buildings & houses back in the Reagan Era only worse. We recovered from that & so we can recover from this as well.
Sure I know it must suck to be in Southern California & Michigan, but even in those hell-holes there can be recovery.

imho... deflation will be a result of the transition from a credit(debt) based economy to an economy where individuals and companies will have to save more cash before they can spend more. Government operations will be financed by increased taxes and printing money and cut backs. Increased saving implies less money in the economy which implies lower prices.

I think it'll start getting real when people start breaking into these places and stealing that stuff to pay for their rent or basic necessities. This is just the beginning. California is going to start getting really scary when times start getting tough. Election night we were really walking on some egg shells. I think the young people in this country were at a boiling point. Now it has receded below the surface a bit.

Great comment about the Raputure George. That is about the most your EVER see of the 19th century American made up Rapture story, that millions of Evangelicals in the US take as fact.
But, sadly its a fantasy story made up in 1850 and put in the Scofield Study Bible in America where then American Pastor with their brilliant brains thought that if this translation study guide is put in the Scofield Study Bible, it must be truth.

The word Rapture comes from the Latin "Raptura". Read the Latin Bible in 1 Thes 4. That is where the word Rapture "caught up" is from.

I will give you one because of space. We know that the AntiChrist will come into play at the 7 year tribulation. Read 2 Thessalonians 2:7-8 specifically "only He who now restrains will do so until He is taken out of the way..." So the AntiChrist will not appear until the "He" who is restraining is removed. So the question would be who is "He"? I believe it is the Holy Spirit/Church. Now does this make me believe everything is rosy for us? No! We may see tough times ahead.

Where I live. Brand new strip malls have been sitting vacant for almost a year now (to the best of my knowledge). I saw a Fresh and Easy go up, doors open, then black drapes went up covering all the windows about a month later.

I should film what my town is turning into. Same thing here. Retail stores are dying left and right. All of our strip malls have at least half of the spots vacant. I have seen probably 5 different businesses open within the last 6 months and already close. One strange thing is the TYPE of businesses that seem to be opening. 99% of them are clearly going to fail... like a new "mom and pop" gym... wth were those people thinking lol

Business just leave the crap for the landlords to deal with. Some strip it out like a forclosure, but most just take off. In Phoenix there are entire multi story office buildings that sit vacant, and some insurance company or REIT has a worthless, money pit that the city keeps taxing. Hey George when I lived in Fl. I bought a 4 Season Salute pass to Disney. I enjoyed going there on days off. Then, little by little the Pixie Dust started wearing off. Many years ago, I lived and grew up in Ontario, California. .Some of the area which Ontario Mills occupies used to be the Ontario Motor Speedway. What a shame it was bull dozed down to make way for the shopping mall and other buildings. :( We kids used to walk over there and watch the drag strip racing and the time trials for the Indy 500. Just a few years ago, my family visited my Aunt Markie in Montclair and her friend Ken and I went to the Ontario Mills Shopping center to visit and shop,

Abandoned construction sites by the way, is something you'd see all over southern Europe, especially Spain. It's unbelievable. They built all kinds of nonsense until the bubble busted and now you have half-finished ghost towns standing around.
