  • global warming (excuse me....climate change) is a natural process. and we have little to do with it, if anything. and if we tried to do something, it would cost so much money it would ruin our economy and change our entire way of life. and for what? nothing bad is going to happen. it is so absurd! but the politicians will be for it because it'll give them ever more control over our lives. and the scientists who support it are only doing it for gov't grants to stuff their pockets. what a joke!

  • Just polar ice, Plant Wilting, and Major heat.

  • More evidence/impacts of climate change series..

(please read article before this denier oil troll with all the sock puppet accounts censors it)..

GOP candidates urged to accept climate change by scientists

    .

Fifty New Hampshire scientists Thursday called on the Republican presidential candidates to accept the “overwhelming” scientific evidence behind climate change. The scientists issued the joint statement just weeks before the Jan. 10 New Hampshire primary.

  • Do they mean 1 degree Celsius or 1 degree Fahrenheit?

  • @dooksucks4ever 1 degree Celsius.

  • @dooksucks4ever One degree Celsius. If we really tried as a global community and cooperated we might be able to cap it at 2 degrees, But most likely the result will be 3-4 degrees, that is the estimated medium (we'll need a miracle to reach 2 degrees, it's doable but don't count on humans to use their brains), I'd say if we get our act together we can cap at 3C. The corporations spend billions of dollars spreading anti-GW propaganda and put our race's survival at risk.

  • @andyx1205 I agree we do need to try our best and do all those things... I'm only 15 but really interested in climate change because my dad teaches climatology at a university

  • the ignorant wouldn't give a damn on global warming unless they actually get affected by its effects, eg, storms, abnormal weather disasters and the like

  • The people commenting on here saying global warming is a hoax are pretty retarded. People keep repeating this lie that science is engaged in some sort of conspiracy. I'm willing to bet most of the people saying these things were brainwashed by the global warming swindle (full of lies and misinformation) or penn and teller's episode (equally as stupid and full of inaccuracies). So sad that we could very well be screwed and these people don't care.

  • HAIKU

    I hatch! Crawl! And swim!

Oh how I love my sweet life,

    But—why’s the sea so warm?

    —A Green Sea Turtle

  • In 100 years when people settle on Antarctica and the Yukon in large numbers, they'll start complaining about global cooling bringing in permafrost into their homes.

  • the very same idiots that would sign a petition to ban dihydrogenoxide because it is a massively abundant greenhouse gas and is artificially added to nearly all foods and is then found present in sweat LOL

  • AGW Pushing is the new nutjob religion, more than 90% of these people blindly follow a political religious movement we all know as environmentalism a movement that has long been nothing but a bunch of ignoramuses tricked into thinking its their cause that they are taking up against the man, but where do they get all their data? the same political structure they oppose, lol they are the blind being led by the agenda of those whom will profit from the futile "green" industry, lol failures at life

  • actually we are in one degree warmer now, I've heard that now can you drive by boat through the arctic over to Asia.

climate change is the thing I most fear, I live in a polar area, north for the polar circle, think, what if this increases? we will maybe get more stronger weather

  • you have to be extremely ignorant to think that mans contribution is changing anything, 5 volcanoes have been erupting for the bulk of this year this alone has released more greenhouse gas into the atmosphere than man has ever and could ever produce, so explain to me where we begin to affect things? and NO the earths temperature is not rising, infact the southern hemisphere is cooling has been for over 12 years says every credible scientists. so explain that?

  • @flutch02,

    .

"5 volcanoes have been erupting for the bulk of this year this alone has released more greenhouse gas into the atmosphere than man has ever and could ever produce"

    .

    Which 5?

    Which greenhouse gasses?

    What were the concentrations?

Show me the peer reviewed and linkable scientific paper backing your claims.

  • @flutch02

What a misinformed idiot you are? Vote RepubliKKKon, by any chance?

FTR the recent Icelandic eruption was spewing out 25,000 tonnes CO2 per day.

Now, since humankind spews out 73 million tonnes per day, name me the 2921 volcanoes that would be needed to emit more than the human race.

(working on the assumption that each volcano is emitting an average of 25,000 tonnes)

IOW 73 million/25,000 +1 to emit more than anthropogenic emissions.

    Knock if you can't go.

  • Anyone that cant sit down take a breath and realise that what they breathe out is not toxic must have a real hard time existing in daily life. CO2 is no more toxic than oxygen or any other element or gas essential to life on earth, only completely incompetent politically driven ignoramuses allow themselves to believe the garbage these videos spew forth, there is nothing humans could ever do to change climate on any measurable scale much less to endanger the existence of life, i suggest reading k

  • OH SHIT IT WAS 100 YESTERDAY NOW ITS 101. Yeah see little kids think like that then they kill theirselves. Alot of suicide is going to be around the the year 2012 in December. People should shut the fuck up about "The End" or "DoomsDay" Because its only going to end up happening 300,000,000,000 years later. R.I.P. Great great great great (fuck it) grandson

    Al Gore Is a PSYCHO...with a bad 2nd Shockra....

  • dude 100 miles of ice will melt causing the sea to rise BUT!!!!!!!! there will be more evaporation and then more clouds causing less sunlight witch means it will be colder!!!!! Ultimately the world will fix it's self if global warming was true. and you know what these fucking dumb asses think, CO2 is warming the planet when actually dry ice is made of CO2 witch is somewhere between -300 degrees and -200 degrees, not 9000 degrees you dumb asses

  • is this alec baldwin?

  • 1 degree rise, yup, by 2020.

  • HÉy_Í_fÈèl_sö_lÓÑÈlý_toÐÀÿ

  • Omg! We're learning about Global Warming in Science and we saw this exact video from National Geographic! I have a question for all of you: Do you believe a big catastrophy will happen someday because of Global Warming or do you believe Global Warming is just a money-making idea for Scientists? Or, so you believe both? Do you believe Global Warming is caused by humans or do you believe it's natural? Or do you believe both?

  • @followerofChrist157 Hello, global warming is a fact, temperatures are rising long term due to fossil fuel burning. Catastrophes are already happening and being linked to global warming. By the time it's obvious to the general public, it will be too late to do anything about it. Scientists are not corrupt, that's a well-funded oil industry like put out by the OIL industry. If you are in school please put forth effort in learning to evaluate all the information out there. Find your own answers

  • @Nightversionn Okay, but what I'm saying is that Global Warming could just be a natural occurrance. We have had many dramatic changes in the temperature already like ice ages and "heat ages" if you will. Some of it is true like it has already raised almost 1 degree, but I think scientists are making it a bigger deal than it really is. I think this is just natural and will probably go away sooner or later. But some scientists think it will lead up to a big catastrophy(world ends).

  • @Nightversionn I think part of it is natural and part of it is because of us humans. As the population of the earth grows, more fossil fuel is burned and going into the earth's atmosphere. And a lot of carbon dioxide and other gases are also going into the atmosphere creating heat. But we could(like I said) just be going through a natural phase as well. I know catastrophies are already happening, but I'm saying that an ultimate one might occur. We can help to stop it.

  • @Nightversionn And F.Y.I, I was just asking these questions to get you thinking. These are some of the questions we've discussed in class already, so I just wanted your opinions and know what other people are thinking. I have been researching and we have been researching in class as well, so yes, I AM putting a lot of effort. I just wanted to know other people's opinions. But I already have my own answers as well, so you don't need to say that I need to find my own answers. Just asking YOU.

  • @followerofChrist157 Well, very good then. Yes part of it is natural, but humans are putting billions of tons of co2 into the atmosphere, which is accelerating anything natural going on. We are providing the extra effect.

    .

If you are in school learn everything you can and don't stop there. Be a life-long learner and look for your own answers, don't listen to anyone online, me or anyone else. You have to find out for yourself. You can sure listen to me, but I am only one source of info

  • @Nightversionn extra effect...no mate....super mega extra effect :|

  • @followerofChrist157

Global Warming i real, our science teacher Mr.Douglass showed us al 6 vids of this, and we check out some data, and 2+2=4 with four being global warming. Im telling you, check your facts and global warming is real

  • @spiritwolf121 Yeah, we watched all 6 videos too. And I AM doing research! But in class, we did a discussion and asked all of those questions. I know that it's real cuz our earth has already warmed up to almost 1 degree, but what I'm saying is do you think it's like dangerous and could lead up to the world's end? Do you think it's caused from fossil fuels and CO2 or is it just a natural stage of the earth? Is the idea of the world's end just a money-making idea for scientists? Think about it.

  • no matter what we do now, we are doomed. The oermafrost is already melting at an incredible rate. And while all that happens, we keep those stupid rulers owning us? We don`t deserve to exist, and that`s why we have only a couple years, at most.

  • @viagemixtlan its ignorant to think anyone knows when the world will end if it does.

  • @fresh81steez you`ve got to be shitting me. wake up, my friend, or better yet, grow up. Check out the facts, the nature facts. the permafrost is already melting at a fast pace. by the summer of 2012 the artic ice will be completely gone. even if we stop burning fossil fuels now, we can`t reverse the trend. and it`s not like we are trying to do anything like that, we just keep on playing as if we are not one endangered species.

  • @fresh81steez and i didn`t even mention all the gas stored on the bottom of the oceans. there`s enough methane there to kill everyone, to poison us all. do you think the world leaders are worried about that? They want more money, and we are fucking sheep! like some other fellow said, we should just die already to cleanse the earth. i have no sympathy for our species. we are seeing the destruction and we don`t change our ways.

  • @fresh81steez Well, we know that in billions of years the sun will overtake the earth, or burn itself out, I can't remember which! But it all ends in this solar system. For the near term, we know that we are making this planet uninhabitable for human life. Read the scientific literature and get informed. It's important. Early information is a key part of making timely informed decisions about what will happen with what's in store for us with fossil fuel induced climate change

  • ..and by all accounts it does not look good at this point.

  • Wtf are they talking about 1C or 1F PLEASE SOMEONE ANSWER ME!!!

  • @Beardactal 1C

  • i meant half the year

  • whats the legendary northwest passage? whats so "legendary" about it? (referring to the arctic is ice free for half the summer?)

  • @Legomakerx "The Northwest Passage is a sea route through the Arctic Ocean, along the northern coast of North America via waterways ... connecting the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans." Explorers have been seeking to use it as a trade route for centuries. Before, it wasn't so important because it was too frozen to be useful. Now that the sea ice is clearing and the passage is navigable for more of the year, sovereignty claims (over whether it's Canadian or international waters) are causing fights.

  • @JanePotter06 ok, but how useful is it supposed to be, and what'll they do when they use that?

  • @Legomakerx It'll be as useful as any major cross-continental shipping lane-- that is, very useful. What's more important is the sovereignty claims, really. Whoever gets posession of the passage also gets rights to oil drilling on the sea floor (which is what everybody's freaking out about in the Arctic these days) and use of all the ocean resources, i.e. fisheries; if Canada gets possession, they could also charge a toll on all international traffic through the passage. *Big* political tension.

  • @JanePotter06 oh, i see. interesting...

  • @JanePotter06 but what makes that a political tension?

  • @Legomakerx It's all about money and power. Governments obviously want to own or (if the passage is ruled international waters) be able to drill for oil on the sea floor- sad, since if the ice melts, the last thing the world needs it more oil being burned. Canada wants to own an express shipping lane that cuts across half the globe; other governments don't want Canada to control that, don't want to have to pay to get through, don't want Canada to have the power to lock them out of the passage.

  • @Legomakerx Fights over general sovereignty in the Arctic circle are already starting, and nobody even knows if there really IS oil under there- right now, it's a matter of claiming more land. I think Russia has started looking for the limits of the continental shelf attached to the north Eurasian landmass, since law dictates that the legal borders of a country with a coastline extend as far as the continental shelf does. It's just the same basic greed that's been driving people for centuries.

  • Less Humans = Better World.

  • Why would anybody take a chair out into the middle of the roadway and sit their with their laptop?

  • I wish people would care. I feel like I am one out of 1,000,000 people who care about mother Earth. If only people could just stop littering and do something about this quicker and actually TRY.

  • @mcgyvr2009i i know what you mean we need do do something so earth can be around forever

  • @Rvd77Elite amen.

  • @mcgyvr2009i

Sadly, to try fixing our planet would require time, work, and money; the three words that makes a man cringe. Nobody wants to spend their money; people won't want to have to work hard unless they're forced to, and if it takes a long time, people will lose interest. It's our nature.

  • @pinheadman665 Sadly, this is true. It is unfortunately in our nature to forget.

  • @mcgyvr2009i Sorry, lose interest.

  • @mcgyvr2009i It's invaoidable. best is to let the market go free, and maybe people will find some solution on problems against it.

  • @mcgyvr2009i the people do care...the problem is that big business elites and corporations and the politicians in their backpockets do not care.

  • @andyx1205 Yes, I know people care. That's why I said 1 in a million. Instead of 1 in 100% of the population. Which means for every 50 people who care, 50 million don't. Giving room for politicians and other stuff. But yeah. I agree with you.

  • There is a disinformation campaign going on, designed to make people disbelieve Global Warming. In part it is the Marshall Institute, the same guys that wanted to keep the dangers of tobacco hidden from the public. Now their intention is to spread misinformation about Climate Change so that their moneygivers, Big Corporation in USA, doesn't have bend under regulation or taxation.

  • Theoreticly 1 degree matters a lot, but actualy it matter which dgree this will be :). On the other hand the subject around "global warming" is not so clear imo... Search for some info whoever is curious :p over how real the global warming is "real".

  • Natural cycle of the glatic plane, Most of the CO2 is in the oceans which will rise in temp. As solar flares and the movement of the planet reacts to this cycle. Humans will have no effect at all. Governments will seize the oppertunity to tax and steal from the working class over this event.

  • its already 1 degree hotter maybe

  • Too bad too few listened go Al Gore some 30 years ago. Today, the corporate interests continue to resist change for their short-term interests. They have many republicans on their side but they don't have the science. Here's an interesting short film about the roots of the disinformation campaign.

    Google: The Denial Machine Video

    .

FMI and what you can do to help try UCSUSA(dot)org

  • Fact: 95% of Greenhouse effect comes from Water Vapor

Fact: Of the remaining 5%, 3% is CO2 and the remaining 2% are other trace gasses like methane and fluorcarbons.

Fact: Man's CO2 contribution is about 3-4% of ALL of the CO2 in the atmosphere. The majority of the CO2 comes from such things as the oceans, decaying plant matter, and volcanoes. In other words, man contributes about 12 parts per million of the 389 PPMs of CO2

  • @Jalaks1986 Interesting "facts" you have there. Can you back them up with some kind of reference? A quick look at "greenhouse gas" at Wikipedia gives me 36-72%, but that doesn't really matter. The question is how much has changed over the past decades and why.

Has the atmospheric water vapor increased?

    Yes, but only slightly.

    Why did it increase?

Because it got warmer and warmer air holds more water vapor.

But why did it get warmer?

It's because CO2, methane and other GHGs increased.

  • @Jalaks1986 The CO2 that is emitted by the ocean and the decaying plants are taken up again by the ocean and growing plants. They are actually taking up more than they are emitting (google: "carbon cycle"), otherwise the oceanic concentration of CO2 would be decreasing instead of increasing as we see today (google: "ocean acidification").

Volcanoes emit around 1% of what humans do.

  • climategate news- Main temperature records that are used to determine the highly-problematic concept of the global mean temperature are in the hands of scientists like Phil Jones and James Hansen with a direct stake in the continuation of the alarmist scare. When these scientists are questioned on the sources of their data they advocate deleting emails and even deleting data itself. They admit that key data underlying their calculations has already been deleted.

  • In December of that year, the UN’s Copenhagen climate talks broke down when a negotiating document was leaked showing that–contrary to all prÑit would be the third world nations bearing the brunt of a new international climate treaty, with punishing restrictions on carbon emissions that would prevent them from ever industrializing. The document, written by industrialized nations, allowed the first world to emit twice as much carbon per person as the third world.

  • carbon dioxide is not a pollutant....its 1 carbon atom with two oxygen atoms attached. with out carbon dioxide we would all die. increase carbon dioxide helps the growth of living organism's. taxing carbon dioxide is like taxing oxygen! by taxing carbon dioxide your government is directly attacking you. to put in a simple way, they are charging you to breath. they are saying you must pay for the sin of being alive!

  • @0pocketpenis0: Let's think really deeply about this for a minute. If we all increase our sugar intake by, oh, 3x, will that be good or not? Sugar's not a pollutant either. How about oxygen? It's not a pollutant; would 50% rather than a paltry 23% be good? Yes, for a while. But you'd probably die in a fire, and if you didn't, oxygen toxicity starts about there. Why? Because you and the rest of earth life have adapted to the current mix of gasses, and plants are not exceptions.

  • @puncheex carbon at 12 times are atmospheric concentration has been shown to IMPROVE life! look up carboniferous CO2 ppm its predicted to have been about 3,000ppm and this was at the time are oil fields formed...when there was so much life it could all decompose in an oxygen rich enviroment and led to the creation of massive oil fields.....all were doing is putting back the carbon that was taken 75million years ago....do ur research.

  • @0pocketpenis0: Yes, that's true. The world's fully of woody green plants, which are well evolved to absorb all that CO2 and produce lots of material that would eventually become oil and coal; you might also note the oxygen was at 30% or so. No trees, no fruit, no grass - that's all later. So if what you want are woody fern plants. But except for possible replenishing of the oil reserves in 200 mya, what do you have but bathtub hot oceans and shrunken continents?

  • @0pocketpenis0 writes...."Piers Corbyn is not an idiot....you are the uneducated ass...Piers has studied physics @ Imperial College London & went on 2 study astrophysics (published as an undergraduate, in the Royal Meteorological Society's magazine "Weather" discussing his brine-filled barometer). I'm a qualified geological scientist who has spent a lot of time studying global warming & can tell u, it is physically impossible! what knowledge do you have of climatic systems?...."

  • Hansen says another 1 centigrade rise will bring us close to a tipping point. What utter nonsense. During the Dinosaur period the CO2 levels were some say 0.15%, others say up to 1%, but lets assume 0.15%, that is 1500ppm and there was absolutely no tipping point. In fact, during this period the bio diversity on earth was at its highest. Yep, Hansen clearly understands the value of scare mongering.

  • @oomblikkies: And how exactly do you know there were no tipping points? I'm told that the common ocean water temperature during the Cretaceous was 99 degrees F, and peaked at 107 degrees F. That's 31 degrees higher than today. Does that difference represent a tipping point having been reached and exceeded? Sure biodiversity was high. BTW, its a pretty sure thing that the air temperatures at least matched the differences in sea temperatures.

  • Spread this email address around. Search recent articles about the Koch billionaire oil brothers. Send the Koch brothers a message that we want an end to their disinformation campaign; that we all need to work together with the best science available for a more prosperous and sustainable future.

    info(at)kochind(dot)com

  • @ReduceGHGs Asking Koch brothers to stop disinformation campaign is like asking Hitler to not kill Jews.

  • @jokerisnomak .

I can always ask them to behave in ways that don't put our future generations at risk. Like you I don't expect them to change. Raising awareness about them and other propaganda machines like fox news will help. Supporting policy makers that "get it" while admonishing those that don't is another effective tool. Not trying to make things better just isn't a rational option.

  • @ReduceGHGs All in all, Hope...right

  • @jokerisnomak .

I do hope but it certainly isn't "All in all". ACTION is what's needed. Spread the word! As you know we have elections coming and as I've heard it said, "Elections have consequences!" Let's see if we can run some of those catering "republicons" out of office! They impede needed progress.

  • Surface temperature relevant to warming and the melting of ice?!? Tell that to the iced up roads when the sun is beaming down on 'em when the air temperature is -8°F

  • @SuperBrobot: Oh, say, that's a really apt analogy. Like the arctic is 1/2" of ice over asphalt.

  • Sooo this is saying well all die if 2012 doesnt happen so its kinda like 2012 is plan a this is plan b... nice.... FML

  • Br-r-r! Where did global warming go?

    Jeff Jacoby

THE STARK headline appeared just over a year ago. "2007 to be 'warmest on record,' " BBC News reported on Jan. 4, 2007. Citing experts in the British government's Meteorological Office, the story announced that "the world is likely to experience the warmest year on record in 2007," surpassing the all-time high reached in 1998.

But a funny thing happened on the way to the planetary hot flash: Much of the planet grew bitterly cold.

  • @Dayversion: Then I suppose that it would be no problem for you to dig up some global analysis that showed that the winter of 2007 was the coldest in, say, the last 50 years? No, I think there are likely at least ten colder winters in that period.

OTOH, if I get to pick the season rather than you, I'll pick Summer of 2010. Yes, there was a higher one in 1996, but that is it.

When you dip into 3 year old stories, you'll often find this problem of having dated yourself. You and Jacoby.

  • "Could Just One Degree Change the World?"

Of course it already has. A better figure is to convert that 1c into heat: how much heat does that 1c represent?

  • I like how people think all this global warming is the fault of the Human Race. Aparently nobody has taken any notice to the fact that the Earth's ecosystem has rotations. There was an Ice Age, now theres going to be a Heat age. Its the Natural warming and cooling of the Earth. We cant stop it, and we cant slow it by much. What we need to focus on is getting the Human race OFF Earth and start colonizingg new planets. Earth won't be our life supporting home forever, and there is no use trying.

  • @JohnIsUber247 ; Idiot.

  • @Desertphile I laughed so hard at your reply. A steriotypical "YOU DONT KNOW ANYTHING" response I usually get from Global Warming supporters. So you disagree with me, what is your opinion? Nothing I guess, since all you made was a one word post. Come back when you get some facts or resonable thoughts and reply. If all you can think of is "Idiot" when you read my comment, I obviously don't need to waste my time replying.

  • @JohnIsUber247 ; Nobody is a "global warming supporter," idiot.

  • @Desertphile Yea, Im wasting my time. Good day sir.

  • @JohnIsUber247 ; Yes, you are wasting your time. Try remedial highs school education instead.

  • I can honestly say that last winter up here in Canada was noticeable warmer than the past.

  • @Clickersome Definitely, I was wondering why it wasn't so cold >.<

  • Comment removed

  • Why can't all the morons who don't care or don't believe things like global warming be extinct? We shouldn't have to suffer for the stupidity of others. If this shit actually happens and idiots do prevail in destroying the world, I'm not going to go down as a victim. I'm going to kill every last god damn idiot I can find before I go extinct with the rest of humanity.

  • @TheAlexander356 How many cliches can fit into one post? You can't win an argument on its merits, so you result to insults and personal attacks. And if those don't work, you want to go for all out genocide. I don't want a polluted planet either, but you need to relax, man. Don't you realize that the people pitching you all this global warming stuff are SELLING A PRODUCT, just like those evil capitalists you hate? Al Gore has 8 houses, and his one in TN has a carbon footprint like a small town.

  • @Reload1245 Where did you hear that about Al Gore? Are you sure it's even true?

  • @Reload1245 you also can't win an argument with people who don't listen, are just plain stupid, or just don't care. Yes, I can easily win anything I choose to argue based on merits, but only if the person I debate is not any of the three things I stated above. What product do you think they're selling, exactly? Asking people to cut down on their utility bills isn't exactly selling a product, more like the inverse.

  • @TheAlexander356 ....sigh....do your own research, dude. Whatever site I tell you - it could be as right as foxnews or as left as the huffington post - I'm sure you would respond with some militant screed about how the author is not credible. It's obvious you have access to a computer, so just google it. There are plenty of articles over the last five years or more from many writers from all political walks who have explored this topic.

  • @TheAlexander356 I'll just leave it at this. All news is biased. All of it. But the only one who can open your mind to that is you. I used to have a lot of anger issues and it sounds like you do, too. I can assure you it's doing more damage to you than you know. I hope things work out for you. Peace, man.

  • @Reload1245 I'm guessing that you don't have anger issues, you're just saying you do since saying I have anger issues by itself might sound like an insult and you don't want that. I don't have anger issues. It's just f*cking sad that stupidity, let me say it again >STUPIDITY< (and carelessness) of humanity will actually destroy something as beautiful as this world, perhaps for good. No anger issues about that, I seem to have a very normal reaction to an outrageous situation.

  • @pichu9000, What you mean you haven't seen ANY of this stuff happening??? I can attest to at least some of it here in the northern rockies...watch what 2 degrees does, and you almost have to wonder if these guys are 1 degree off meaning 5 degrees would be the tipping point...Since MOST everything that happens at 2 degrees IS CURRENtly HAPPENING..

  • Carbon Dioxide is a life gas dumbasses, without it, plants die and then people die. If you were to put plants in a CO2 rich environment (oxygen, water, sunlight and soil to grow in is needed as well) you would see a much more ample blooming than you would see in an evironment with less CO2.

  • @AmericanPoliceState More CO2 is good for SOME plants, to a degree, provided that they have enough of everything else that they need, like H20. What part about "new hyper arid areas" do you not understand? Have you ever heard of crop failures caused by lack of CO2? Considering the fact that CO2 levels are about 1/3 higher than 100 years ago, why are we not up to our armpits in lush green vegetation?

  • @pragmaticjack CO2 is not really the main concern, take a look at methane and carbonmonoxide, their far more effective as greenhouse gases.

  • @DominateKiller6 Actually carbon monoxide is a very weak greenhouse gas, though it does affect the life cycles of other greenhouse gasses, like methane. Though not nearly as abundant as CO2, Methane is a major concern. Cattle farming is causing a huge amount to be generated. Even more frightening is the potential for the release of methane from what up until now was know as "permafrost". Scientists estimate that half of that 1.3 trillion tons of may be released within a few decades.

  • @pragmaticjack Gee... Thanks!

  • DominateKiller6 Methane is a stronger GHG but CO2 is so much more abundant that it has a greater impact on climate. CO2 is going to be even more important in the future since the amount of CO2 we release will increase much faster than our methane contribution.

  • pragmaticjack

That's right. Liebigs Law of the Minimum. The limiting nutrient is the one most scarce in relation to need.

Carbon and oxygen are not scarce at all for plants.

  • @AmericanPoliceState: Those plants you are talking about evolved in an atmosphere with about 300 ppm of CO2. What will they do when the CO2 doubles? What do you do when your food intake doubles? Is that desirable for you or a plant? One study shows that it would be a great boon to insects, as foliage increases. Just how much more fruit can an apple tree hold? Corn is highly adapted (has little diversity to absorb change); what will happen if it fails?

  • @puncheex There is good evidence that temperature will rise by about 1.5 (one point five) centigrade for a doubling in CO2. The relationship between temp and CO2 concentration is not linear, but logarithmic. Your claim on insects is true, but it also applies to their natural predators and the nett effect will be that balance is maintained.

  • @oomblikkies: Sure, equilibrium is always reached, but at what point? Is it at the point where losses from insects is greater than whatever additional growth, if any? We don't have any idea how plant growth will actually be affected by CO2 increase beyond wild guesses, we don't know what effect it will have on the insects, and we certainly don't know how the insects will affect the plants. I'd say it's a walk in the dark with our food as the prize. And that's better than an economic downturn?

  • 1:35-2:08 Nice office

  • Don't worry, God will save us. He loves us. LOL

  • Don't worry, God will save us. He loves us. LOL

  • 1 dergree farenheit or celcius

  • and today its all ready 0.71!!!!!!!!!!

  • What would happend if it raised with 20 Degree's?

oh yeah it would end with a APOCALYPSE

  • Well, the world is one degree higher now at least. Nothing this bad has heppened yet.

  • @pichu9000: Oh? For the first time in recorded history the Northwest passage is opening? Ocean acidification (caused by CO2 dissolved in the water) is rising? Did you notice all the gas that came up with the oil in the Carib? All indications are that Greenland and Arctic ice is melting back, and there's only one place for it to go, and most of the world's population lives in the ocean? You just keep those eyes on your games, boy, they'll save you.

  • You're right, Dummy!! All the temperature figures are faked, and the WeatherChannel, NASA, NOAA, MIT, Univ.of California, Harvard, Cambridge, the American Geophysical Union, The Royal Society, Union of Concerned Scientists are all part of the conspiracy.

Except no one told the disappearing arctic ice, melting mountain glaciers, early springs, and the plants, animals, and insects migrating north.

    LOL!!!

    See the WeatherChannel YouTube:

Global Warming - Cool Summer WHY??

    /watch?v=sX6jEsnGcrA

  • Hansen 'studies climates in the past'? On Mars or is that Venus?

  • Here's PROOF that man made global warming is a LIE!!

    .

In the news this week they report findings of primative weapons & animals bones / poo being unearthed from underneith meling ice accross the north hemisphere. These were 800+ years old & proved that where we now have ice, there were once grassy planes. 800+ years ago the earth was warmer than today!!

    .

There is also proof that the last iceage ended 100 years ago. This proves that we are coming out of an iceage! Getting warmer naturally

  • @Nigtversionn you know what, youre proof that humanity needs extinction. i take your word over the nasa scientists you are much more qualified im sure. i suppose katrina was made up also and the tsunami in asia. those are normal and common events that happen all the time. youre the fool my friend. but you know how the saying goes. talk sense to a fool and he will call you foolish

  • @cryostation

Sad as it is, if this is what the human race is capable of producing, these denier stalkers global warming denier trolls, then yeah, it's time for humans to go and let the next species evolve, or not

    Have a good night/ day

  • @Nerdtversionn Aaaahahahaha!!!!!! Nerdversion says

"its time for humans to go"

Sounds like a very dangerous screw is loose in that looney bin you call a skull. I wonder if this would qualify as a bonafied threat to humanity? You just said we should all "go" what does that mean go where and how are we going to get their?

Do I smell a genocidal maniac here? I know you hate black children in the third world but "humans" includes everyone, right? all 6+ billion of us?

  • @KingDingaLing090 king dinga ling right? what a pathetic sorry excuse for humans. i have met lizards that deserve to be on this earth more than you. even a fly that eats shit has a very specific and important role in nature. what about you what is it that you do to contribute to the biosphere? i think you are expendible. take that as you wish

  • @cryostation You want confirmation on that? NO. It is KingDingaLing090

Oh and now lizards are more valuable than humans? Doesnt suprize me. Even a wittle tiny wittle fly turd? awe that is cute little guy. I contribute an essential element to all life on earth it is known as carbon dioxide. You are too, how much fossil fuel does it take to sit on the computer all day and spew nonsense?

  • @KingDingaLing090 thats not much of a contribution i must say, damn your life is pathetic. as for me i have a specific purpouse, i am looking for the tree and when i find it, i will talk to the head in the well, for soon the time will come when that noblest of trees will shake, and then no man will be unafraid

  • @cryostation HAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

Keep going... Keep going... : )

Why are you burning fossil fuels to use your computer?

  • @KingDingaLing090 you really want to know the answer to that. reallly are you that stupid? first i dont have money or technical know how to use some sort of sun powered system. second if it was available would i buy it? yes. unfortunately i make my living by using the internet, and the society we live in makes it almost impossible to survive OUTSIDE of the system. i would have to be a criminal to be living in harmony with nature. third i think human extinction can not be stopped. well deserved

  • @cryostation Hahaha... so Im stupid but you willingly destroy the planet just to talk to me?

Start the human extinction now please and kill yourself, let the earth be rid of your madness. Well deserved.

  • @KingDingaLing090 you start every sentence with hahaha. you must be a mental deffective. no wonder youre angry

  • @cryostation - You are funny, how does this equate to angry in your odd little world?

  • @KingDingaLing090

yeah, it's time for humans to go if it is full of people like you bent on destroying everything

    Yeah

If there are more people like cryostation, then no

  • @Nightversionn dont worry bro they can deny all they want, the facts dont lie. weakness of the dollar, the euro almost collapsing right now, greece spain italy portugal france are in danger of completely bcollapsing. israel palestine in the verge of explosion.l africa is in total hell, mexico is exploding. amazon rainforest dying, coral reefs dying, fish poisoned mercury and DISAPEARING.greenland meltdown is this just a couincidence?. its not just global warming its TOTAL EFFECT. wake up fools

  • @cryostation not to mention oil spill. the rape of the natural world is in full effect. earth has the means and mechanisms for self-regulation. we DONT. we are not gods. we should learn from the past and ltreat nature as a MOTHER. and become contributors of the biosphere not destroyers. what can usa the most powerfull nation on earth do to stop a hurricane? nothing. we depend on natures benevolence, she can wipe us out in a blink. you people are fools. you will see and udnerstand, but too late

  • @Nightversionn Oh so if they dont believe your religion they should die, got it.

  • @Nightversionn i like the direction you are going my friend. i thought your previous arguments were in the opposite direction. i like where you are going. unfortunately if we dont blame our self and see our own corruption then nothing will change. perhaps the first step to recognise our error then maybe nature will allow us to live

  • @cryostation thanks a lot for saying ,concisely and clearly, what I wanted to say to Nigtversionn (who also needs to learn to spell,) in a _personal_ email to me to, basically, call me stupid. Gee, you don't suppose he is a 'Powers That Be" plant? No, they would have someone infiltrate who could express himself enough to be taken seriously :-)

  • @Milisabelle well thanks hun. problem is somebody hijacked nightvisions account. he is actually a nice guy. but these global warming deniers are desperate and sneeky btw i really loved your channel. that was very moving i will ad you to my friends. keep it up

  • @Nigtversionn there is a reason there are scientists and amateurs like you. difference: people in this documentary are qualified scientists and some work at nasa, you are a dumb amateur who posts on youtube. even a dumb fuck like you should understand the difference, maybe not. either way, go fuck yourself i hope your genes die with you

  • @cryostation

Where do you think I got my info, my ass? If you want to see qualified scientists debunking global warming look up "al gore debates global warming".

    .

If you wearn't such a lazy fat fuck you could simply google what I said & see its a scientific fact, BUT NO, you are to fucking dumb to even do that, you'll believe a youtube video LOL. Fucking hypocrite.

    .

People like you are the reason for the de-evolution of society, you dont think for yourself - your nothing but a sheep

  • @Nigtversionn thanks for showing me how to use google. im 170 pounds no body has called me fat before thats new to me. where are your fucking references bitch? i dont need to hear you talk about google i got my info on the nasa website and its pretty obvious youre a FUCKING AMATEUR. go get a college degree loser. i hope your genes go the way of the dodo

  • @cryostation

Fat or not, your still a lazy asshole, and a complete moron. I dont put in references because its easy enough to look up.. not like i'm writing a uni paper. BTW i have a degree, and a diploma, and a good job. What have u got? Lemme guess, your a 1st / 2nd year unemployed uni student?? They are always the stupidest big mouths, they think because they study that means they are smart LOL.

    .

Anyway, MM GW is debunked now there's proof earths optimum temp is warmer than today's haha

  • Is it talking about degrees F or C?

  • Global warming is a lie. Do you really believe Al I-invented-the-internet Gore? He just bought another house--a huge $9 million mansion in Montecito, CA. He's living the celebrity lifestyle and laughing all the way to the bank.

  • @russcottt I dont think global warming is a lie. BUT WTF Seriously Al Gore buys another mansion ... They produce more emissions and up more gas and use of resources. You might as well make everyone in New York City turn on their lights for an hour. HE should just donate all the money to build something to help stop Global Warming if it's even true.

  • deserts are beautiful but forest's are better for people and the environment and deserts are hot and boring

  • Breaking climate news…

NASA analysis showing record global warming undermines the skeptics

Recent analysis undermines the case made by climate sceptics, who have used the slight cooling trend in recent years to argue that man-made emissions are not causing global warming.

    LONDON TIMES

    UNITED KINGDOM

    June 4, 2010

  • @Nightversionn amen to that. i never doubted it. only the fools do. they will wake up too late when they see their children die in heat waves. humanitys arrogance deserves extinction

  • @cryostation

Sorry, but YOU are the fool! Here are some known facts about earths climate -

    1. 1890 the last iceage ended. Temps have gone up since.

    2. 700 years ago the last iceage started.

    3. 800 - 2000 years ago the eath was warmer & had far less ice then today - hence why you can find evidence of life under the snow dating back 800-2500 years.

    .

Now THINK why do GW activists only show you graphs starting from 1890???? Its wrong & misleading, even you could work that out!
