If you truly want to know what you can do to fix the health care system. Start with the FDA being owned by the drug companies. Get them free of the drug companies! Next make the AMA do their jobs and really police the doctors that are not really qualified to practice medicine. Ones that have the degree but end up doing more damage than help. I'm no expert in the economy, and i'm no expert on healthcare, but I like the idea of having truly universal healthcare the way the British (and some other countries) have (truly free healthcare for everyone). If the british can do it, it's probably possible to do it in America. I don't know if the american people want to do it, but if they do, we should be trying to implement a system like the british system as soon as possible.

Here is my idea. Australia may not have the world's most efficient hospitals (although it runs at only 9% of GDP), but I believe it's health care system is better than that of the U.S. A medicare levy is paid in people's annual taxes and this entitles EVERY SINGLE PERSON in the country to FREE HEALTH CARE. Considering the U.S. system only ranks at #37 (BELOW Australia, and 35 other countries)on the world scale maybe the answer lies OUTSIDE THE BOX. Consider those who do it better.

Consider that for every $1 of insurance a carrier provides they need $3 assets, if the economy has reduced itself by roughly 40% then these carriers will need 40% growth to insure the same number of people, the only current way to get 40% growth is to increase premiums by 40% or start dropping high risk patients.

90% of the cost in healthcare is attributed to 10% of the population.

Here is my view on how to better our health system. Make natural medicine, like naturopaths, herbalists and nutritionists covered by health insurance. Give us the choice not to be vaccinated and don't force us to hide under religious exemptions. Green our vaccines. Fund promising research for curing the plague of autism like the work being done by the DAN movement. Force food manufacturers to list all ingredients on their labels. Make harmful chemicals like MSG and SLS illegal for use.

Overall seems interesting but I noticed that no contact information is provided. To just watch certain people plan and comment seems to limit interaction with the people they are trying to serve. Shouldn't they seek out average citizens and invite them to participate at the discussion vs respond and really not be able to make changes as policy is being formed?

My best advice for the government is to listen to the ideas of the American people. Now is a great opportunity for all Americans to give out their ideas. The new administration should be active on all social networking sites: MySpace, facebook, twitter, and everywhere they can because it is groups like this that helped elect our next president. I managed to register new Democratic voters just by allowing them to read Obama's online plan.

Healthcare needs to be done on a local level. We need local control on and for healthcare. Think in terms of a credit union but for healthcare. And why do drug prices and other medical treatments be so expensive?

This should be based on the free market. The market now cannot afford the prices in healthcare. Having insurance would not solve the problem either because the cost gets deferred to the insurance companies. We need a competitve pricing model.

Here are a couple of ideas:

- Provide each citizen an online overview of their medical checkups with incitements for everyone to regularly get a checkup at doctors.

- The Government should encourage fast food restaurants to provide green-marked menus which should be prepared in a way so that they provide a more healthy alternative. Tasty food doesn't have to be unhealthy, fast food doesn't have to be unhealthy. Give fast food restaurants tax breaks on the healthy meals and give suggestions.

Let me simplify the health care plan. Medicare for all. First year of implementation cover all 18 & under, 55 years and older. Second year 30 and under, 45 and older. Third year all citizens are covered. Any additional health care can be purchased by individuals in the private sector. Medicare works and is easily sellable to the American people. Kaiser Permanente is the best HMO and everyone should have Kaiser. If the government can fix that, there will be no more health care issues. More Kaiser centers all across the USA. Get rid of all the other HMOs and insurance plans because all the other health plans suck.

Teaching people proper nutrition and the importance or vitamins, minerals and fiber to overall health and disease prevention would be a start. Also, stop making hormone injections mandatory in livestock and reduce the use of pesticides and harmful preservatives. Add these to the top of the list because not only are they low in cost but they would actually save money for the American tax-payer.
