If you truly want to know what you can do to fix the health care system. Start with the FDA being owned by the drug companies. Get them free of the drug companies! Next make the AMA do their jobs and really police the doctors that are not really qualified to practice medicine. Ones that have the degree but end up doing more damage than help. Get the drug industry out of the doctor's offices all the time. bjtexas
Real grassroots change comes from the grassroots. Obama's campaign is a top-down organization. Sometimes I wonder if it's just an image to make people feel like they are involved when in fact they have no power.
You are a punk. I do not like that have surfaced. You are a divisive individual, and this is why your attempt to run for president was squashed by your own party. You will fail at this job and you are a failure in general
I'm not going to drown this video with my personal experiences and my fears for my son's future. I would just be echoing what millions are already saying. Instead I just want to say it should be an "American Right" to have good affordable health care.
The Daschle pick is even better then the Clinton one.
Our income tax is squandered, We have corporate leaders that has sold their country men out, we have a President that lies regularly to help his friends and shit on his country men. We are involved in wars that are founded and perpetuated by lies. We have the effects of Global Climate chaos and Peak Oil challenging our core values and world view. What kind of species are we really? Why are the morally corrupt the ones in charge?
wow, 29,000 views and no comments! I'll leave my two cents:
I'm no expert in the economy, and i'm no expert on healthcare, but I like the idea of having truly universal healthcare the way the British (and some other countries) have (truly free healthcare for everyone). If the british can do it, it's probably possible to do it in America. I don't know if the american people want to do it, but if they do, we should be trying to implement a system like the british system as soon as possible.
Here is my idea. Australia may not have the world's most efficient hospitals (although it runs at only 9% of GDP), but I believe it's health care system is better than that of the U.S. A medicare levy is paid in people's annual taxes and this entitles EVERY SINGLE PERSON in the country to FREE HEALTH CARE. Considering the U.S. system only ranks at #37 (BELOW Australia, and 35 other countries)on the world scale maybe the answer lies OUTSIDE THE BOX. Consider those who do it better.
Considering the economic crisis the Health Care system will get much worse before it gets better.
Consider that for every $1 of insurance a carrier provides they need $3 assets, if the economy has reduced itself by roughly 40% then these carriers will need 40% growth to insure the same number of people, the only current way to get 40% growth is to increase premiums by 40% or start dropping high risk patients.
90% of the cost in healthcare is attributed to 10% of the population.
The feedback from American is good, but this voice has been screaming for years for reform.
Now is the time to really look at state by state need and then combine the needs and work form the center out, like a storm the post powerful part is the eye of the storm.
I have an idea, stop paying for bombs to kill and displace millions of innocent people in the middle east, and put the money into a program to help people in the US who are in need of treatment and cant afford it. Institute a policy of saving for hard times instead of digging us into debt and effectively creating hard times.
Yes, it's going to transform the USA into a socialist nation.
My God, our founding fathers are all turning over in their graves.
This is why every office in the government should be "term limited." Not just the President's. These guys stay in Washington for way to long. And they make government bigger and more powerful. And that in turn takes more freedom and liberties from us!
The government can't manage Soc. Sec. but they want to run health care...yeah right.
Daschle is an idiot and Universal Health Care NEVER works in any country..Get a job...then buy insurance like the rest of us ..be an adult and grow up
Excellent. I like the approve of getting the involvement of the masses and using technology to get the best ideas collected from all over the country.
Here is my view on how to better our health system. Make natural medicine, like naturopaths, herbalists and nutritionists covered by health insurance. Give us the choice not to be vaccinated and don't force us to hide under religious exemptions. Green our vaccines. Fund promising research for curing the plague of autism like the work being done by the DAN movement. Force food manufacturers to list all ingredients on their labels. Make harmful chemicals like MSG and SLS illegal for use.
Healthcare is probably one of the most difficult issue to solve. For example, Medicare, it's in a huge deficit. I wonder what's going to happen when it's nationalize?
PLEASE CLOSED CAPTION THESE VIDEOS!!!! I am happy to host a health care discussion per the request, but I would like to be inclusive of people with hearing difficulties. It's 2.5 minutes. Heck, I can transcribe what he's saying if you need someone to type it for you. Big tent means Deaf and hard-of-hearing people too, folks!!!
Overall seems interesting but I noticed that no contact information is provided. To just watch certain people plan and comment seems to limit interaction with the people they are trying to serve. Shouldn't they seek out average citizens and invite them to participate at the discussion vs respond and really not be able to make changes as policy is being formed?
My best advice for the government is to listen to the ideas of the American people. Now is a great opportunity for all Americans to give out their ideas. The new administration should be active on all social networking sites: MySpace, facebook, twitter, and everywhere they can because it is groups like this that helped elect our next president. I managed to register new Democratic voters just by allowing them to read Obama's online plan.
Healthcare needs to be done on a local level. We need local control on and for healthcare. Think in terms of a credit union but for healthcare. And why do drug prices and other medical treatments be so expensive?
This should be based on the free market. The market now cannot afford the prices in healthcare. Having insurance would not solve the problem either because the cost gets deferred to the insurance companies. We need a competitve pricing model.
If you want a nutshell look at just how screwed up the system is, look into the Lyme
disease controversy. Search "Lyme disease video blogs" on YouTube for stories of active people from every walk of life struck down and denied treatment TIME AND AGAIN. Countless stories of people with a chronic disease who are paying hundreds of thousands of dollars OUT OF POCKET because insurance refuses to pay. See the Documentary "Under Our Skin".We need your help!
- Provide each citizen an online overview of their medical checkups with incitements for everyone to regularly get a checkup at doctors.
- The Government should encourage fast food restaurants to provide green-marked menus which should be prepared in a way so that they provide a more healthy alternative. Tasty food doesn't have to be unhealthy, fast food doesn't have to be unhealthy. Give fast food restaurants tax breaks on the healthy meals and give suggestions.
We need Universal/Single payer Health Care. The Insurance companies need to be put out of the Health care business. Anything less will only continue the Health care crisis. You should be contacting Dr. Quintin Young in Chicago.
Let me simplify the health care plan. Medicare for all. First year of implementation cover all 18 & under, 55 years and older. Second year 30 and under, 45 and older. Third year all citizens are covered. Any additional health care can be purchased by individuals in the private sector. Medicare works and is easily sellable to the American people. Take care and have a grrrreat day!!!
Great Idea! Reform Social Security Disability NOW. People like me are suffering needlessly though no fault of their own. Just born with bad health. Are we supposed to die due to inaccessiblity to health care and medications! I cannot even afford a required $10 RX at Walmart! Help!
Tom Daschle remind me of Bill Nye. But that's OK—I like them both, and I think the former senator is a very good and helpful addition to Obama's team.
Kaiser Permanente is the best HMO and everyone should have Kaiser. If the government can fix that, there will be no more health care issues. More Kaiser centers all across the USA. Get rid of all the other HMOs and insurance plans because all the other health plans suck.
We've got Federal, state laws regarding healthcare, we've got health insurance companies, hospitals, idividual doctors, pharmaceutical companies, and we've got patients who have malpractice attorneys.
That's not a system, that's a trainwreck looking for a place to happen.
Teaching people proper nutrition and the importance or vitamins, minerals and fiber to overall health and disease prevention would be a start. Also, stop making hormone injections mandatory in livestock and reduce the use of pesticides and harmful preservatives. Add these to the top of the list because not only are they low in cost but they would actually save money for the American tax-payer.
As LONG as MY Constitutional Rights will not Be Infringed Upon, I wish Him and Congress well and ease To Serve This People.
Truth, Justice, Honesty, Integrity, Not for an Individuals Agenda, but serving Americans the individual agenda.
I will not prejudge Obama. Even though I did not vote for him.
I will exploit his actions good or bad.
