Oh my freaking god...I haven't heard this song in forever. Saw these boys play in the backroom at the original Sneakers in San Antonio back in the day.
Anyone who caught The Quireboys live 89-93 will have often seen the Red Dogs playing with them. Footage has recently been rediscovered and is now on youtube. Do a search for "Red Dogs Working Late" to bring up the video for the single or "Red Dogs Super Channel" for two live tracks and small interview. Hope it brings back memories for some of you.
I stopped listening to the charts in 1987. For me that's when all the shite started flooding our airwaves (Minogue, Bros etc...) so this song (which only reached No.36 what bollocks is that?) was overlooked. Thankfully a freind of mine who I met last year introduced me to this belter of an album, and The Black Crowes. So a big thank you goes out to Chelsea Mick.
THIS SONG IS THE THEME SONG FOR ONE OF MY BEST FRIENDS AND I THIS WAS OUR PARTYING SONG I MISS THAT WOMAN SO MUCH SHE PASSED AWAY FROM CANCER AND I MISS HER DEARLY BUT EVERYTIME I HEAR THIS SONG I JUST SIT BACK CLOSE MY EYES AND REMEMBER THE GREAT TIMES WE HAD TOGETHER BEFORE GOD TOOK HIS ANGEL BACK HOME LOVE YOU CARLA REINBECK AND MISS YOU DEEPLY!
back in the 80's... the bands had talent and were hot ;) damn where are all the long haired pretty boys.. with voices??? the 80's was full of em! talent everywhere!
Sounds like a cross between The Black Crowes and Rod Stewart (his early years). I remember when this video came out. MTV did an interview with and they said that Rod came up to them and gave them high praises. AWESOME!!
Saw them live in Glasgow last night, they were recording a live album, it was an amazing gig. They are still a brilliant live band and they haven't really aged one bit! They know how to get an audience going and Spike still has all the moves and throws the mike stand like a pro. Hope they come back to Glasgow soon as I'll defo go again!!
@jrwall100 sorry if it was a legit question. it sounded like you were being one of those sarcastic pricks who likes to talk shit about the 80's scene. one of the "get with the times" assholes who think rap or gay ass bands like fallout boy and simple plan are what's cool. the music scene today sucks compared to the talent and sound of 80's bands.
Great to see the responses for these guys, Sharon Osborne did good, saw the boys open for LA Gunns at a club in Toledo, back in the day...the cops shut it down!!!!
By far one of the most underrated albums and band of the 90's ......if this album was released in the mid 80's .....this band would be a house hold name.
Chick your dad is an awsome drummer..is he still playing?
Your dad is agreat drummer. i saw him live when I was 14 or so in New mexico. His live show influenced my playing for years. Great showman and drummer!
@chickenandababy I saw the Quireboys back in 88-89. They played a small club in Anaheim called Jezebels. It was a warm up show before they went on tour with Aerosmith. I met Ozzy and Sharon that night because they were sitting at my station (I was a barback at the time) and I served them water all night. Around closing time the bouncers got rude and started taking the beers from the band and I would grab the beers from the bouncers and give them back to the band. The band were really cool,
@chickenandababy Hey dude! Can you ask your dad whatever Happened to Guy Bailey? Why did he leave? I think I heard something about him owning a pub now somewhere in england(?) He was the one that did all the slide stuff right? It's so confusing... I mean, two guys, both playing guitar, both named "Guy"(!) lol!
yeah - a shameless Faces rip-off, and given that Dog D'amour had been doing it, but more and better, for years before, the Quireboys were lucky. But.. still a good tune, and if I remember right, they could do it live too. Kentish Town in December anyone?
Love this song! Is there any city's in America that a Radio Station's that play's this ...where I'am from they don't and act like they never heard of it.. If so I want to move there ..let me know!!!
I dunno, but in Montreal they have a classic rock station called ''Chom FM'', where Saturday nights between 8pm-11pm they play '80s. look them up. you can listen online.
