  • chinese temple become muslim turkistan uyghur mass.

  • I want to visit Xian before I start visiting other parts of China!

  • the food part made me salivate

  • Why do they look so unfriendly? When I go other countries and film them, like korea and japan, they will smile at me and say something nice in their language and we will have some good laughs. Here they give you that look, and they look like they can kill you anytime. Or they give that 'go away' look on their faces. same attitude when i was in shenzhen and guangzhou. Why are they like tht?

  • I LOVE XI'AN MY HOMETOWN. XI'AN IS UNIQUE TO THE WORLD.

  • Nice video...I still need to visit xian and this gives me a first idea of how life there is.

  • Xian is one of the best place i see in China becos of is rich history and still many ancient wall people still stay inside the wall an douter wall and attraction to explore

  • @yq3163 I am sorry I did not mean to offend. It was just that it reminded me of when I was there with my family, we did find it gross simply because we were not used to it being socially acceptable, but there is not actually any "wrong" with it. Im sure there are many things we do that Chinese think are gross or socially unacceptable to.

As for a individual phenomenon the frozen spit did not cover the whole ground, probably about 40% in some places.

No need to be snappy at me :)

  • 8:36 Probably the worst sound i heard in china (when people spit on the ground)

After I was in Xi'an we went to Harbin which is far north near russia and not only did people spit on the ground it was so cold it froze covering the ground! (in Harbin when we arrived it was -27 degrees Celsius!)

This is a really great video, makes me wish that we made a video of our trip aswell.

  • @MELEGO351 You said only a very individual phenomenon. Now the quality of the people of our country has been greatly improved.

  • There must be something wrong, i have entered a Mosque!

You weren't allowed to do so probably cuz it was a prayer time, its not recommend to enter while they are praying, and the most important thing: you MUST take off your shoes!

  • Yeah, there lies the fundamental difference: you're not alowed to enter!

Buddhist Temples and Churches and other religious places are open to all.

Our friends at the back just told us: the jews are also not so tolerant, like their arab brothers! sigh... How come?

  • The Hui people purportedly claim to have descended from the Arabs but they looked perfectly Chinese (mongoloid) to me. Delusions turn to illusion, this happens when subjected to centuries of religious indoctrination. Reminds me of the old Woody Allen's joke ..........'my brother is a chicken' though contextually different.

  • chang'an

  • lol at 8:25

  • oh! how much i miss my hometown 西安!

  • YUMMY I love Hui food, the hand made noodles are the best:)

  • Best city in China, this should be capital

  • @Seres1091 xi'an used to.but not now

  • @JasperSaga It will always be the culture capital

  • going there in a few weeks! thanks for uploading =)

  • whoever said to that ur not allowed to enter the mosque is wrong.. u can enter the mosque, i know it cus am a muslim :) but u cant enter it with shoes on and without wudu.. that is without washing hands, feet, face, ears, nose and mouth..

  • home, sweet home. U R always deep in my heart

  • I found the people friendlier in Xi'an than Beijing.

  • asians with their hijabs! I love my people!

  • MY HOME , I MISS IT

  • we need travel clips like this, that should be what utube is for, being global, let people see each other's places & culture & bridge the gap,it doesn't have to be professional(I dislike those propaganda type video),just shoot what you think is interesting, with a littleexplaination if you could,& I'm touched by your interest & efforts to understand the Chinese & their culture.I'd like to do the same but still haven't started.

  • Xi'an is much more Chinese than Beijing or Shanghai ...

  • In 'Behind the Wall' (1986) Colin Thubron spoke to the Imam of this Mosque; who said the Cultural Revolution students were going to tear it down but that he talked them out of it.

  • ''you bing'' , ur Chinese pronuciationis not bad .

  • 西安 is the root of China

  • I'll be in Xi'an in March 2010. I'm sorry to hear that so little is left of the ancient city, but am anxious to visit nonetheless. The view in the video from the Bell Tower was very hazy, I'm wondering whether that was fog or air pollution?

  • i miss xian. xian peoples

  • Xi'an is my hometown, Xian rocks!

  • i miss xian :(

  • Good city ! Very nice !

  • I love XA

  • how great and beautiful my motherland is

  • @tomatokaka

  • Thanks for the video. I hope to visit Xi'an. I would appreciate any suggestions as to where to stay, where to eat, or what to see or do. Out-of-the-ordinary suggestions are fine.

  • I stayed in Holiday Inn I think and it was really nice and clean. Very big rooms with large beds for small price. I don`t remember the price but I doubt it was more than 20€ per night for a person.

  • DVD market!! Gotta go! I don't know my streets I just know its on the adjacent road from the history museum. Muslim quarter was awesome for souvenirs, get some snacks in the food section. Don't know why, but the TrustMart was an experience. Don't go there at 9 am, old ladies are fighting each other over the produce and rice. And finally, go to the fountain show at the Big Goose Pagoda :D

  • I love China, I miss that kind of environment. Noisy but it's a sound to my ear. The food is fantastic and affordable too.

  • @lo51974, it depends on where you are at in China, a lot of places in rural China is actually incredibly serene and beautiful and natural.

  • Great city. Was there in April 2006 and of all the Chinese cities this was my fav!

  • i want to go home!!! i love Xi'an.

  • Andrew, when did you go? It looks quite cold. I want to go there in October.

  • Hi,I have been a resident of Xian since I was born in 1985.I think October is a good time to visit this city. It's not that cold. This video may be made during the winter-from Dec. to Mar.

  • I am living here now!

  • Xi'An is the old capital.

  • "take a shower!" dude it is call "Wudu", which washing the face, hands, head, and feet before standing in front of The creator of the heavens and earth (ALLAH). read on what Islam is all about ....forget about Fox, CNN, ABC, CBC, BBC etc.

  • You're right. "Ritual ablutions" would have been more appropriate. Thanks for the correction.

  • Why does it have anything to do with foxnews or cnn? Save your time typing down all channels here (btw you missed MSNBC for cable and CBS NBC PBS for public LOL)... I can imagine you have to have a little chitchat with ben Laden before you're allowed to visit a city in China.

  • read what Islam teaches then comment on it. otherwise, zip$%it...

  • Different branchs of Islam have variations?

There are mainstream branches and there are huge differences such as the cultish branches ie. Nation of Islam.
