  • 'once in a blue moon' :

    A blue moon just means the second full moon occurring within a single month.

    This is reasonably rare. It occurs seven times every 19 years.

    Thus 'once in a blue moon' is not an absolute idiom because it is a factual albeit rare occurrence unlike a fabricated idiom such as 'when pig's fly'.
