I spent sometime in prison when I was younger... Education is sorely lacking and it's still a problem now... Everything in life is education. It's really what's separating the classes... If people were better educated, there would be less chance of wrong doing when were older...
Some of the best prison wardens started out as educators, not corrections experts.
These prisoners missed a part of the life education that you get when you're a teen. So when they come into prison as adults, they need to have that missing education replaced.
Garland writes it is not crime or criminological knowledge about crime which most affects policy decisions, but rather the ways in which the crime problem is officially perceived and the political positions to which these perceptions give rise (1990, p. 20)
GOOD!!! They SHOULD be made to work off their crimes instead of staying inside, acting all bad and lifting weights and whatnot!!! Make the uncivilised animals WORK!!! Thats the word they fear the most! WORK!!!
you might believe that but there is macro economics and micro economics
there is short term and long term
kaptialism is saying " i want fast money short term and now now now"
prisons, like the Pscho wards of the early nineteen hundreds and late 1800s created entire economies- Jails/wards , create jobs and generate income for people
ever since slavery was abolished, prisons took in the black people and used them on the fields to grow crops for them so they could make money, because it isn;t technically slavery. those racists..
Because there are people that function better in prison than on the outside. Sad but true. There are people that commit crime because they want to be put BACK in prison because they like the structure and security that exists within that they do not have in the real world for one reason or another.
What a raciist ass warden!! You are of your father the devil!! One day the cages are gonna be let open...Theres no water that can put out that fire..DONT SCREAM!!!
i think anyone in prison should have to work for their stay ...earn their way....listen to how much money it costs to keep prisoners locked up....tax payers pay the majority of it
it costs less to educate a society than to imprison it BUT the Economic Revenue is faster this way and THATS Why USA has more prisons than schools go figure
That's not a random sample. You have to look at unbiased statistics, not the people you know. If you knew ANYTHING about poverty, you would not say that.
Yes it is ABSOLUTELY your problem! if people commit grimes especially in your own country.
prevention is key . You could be the victim or any of your friends or family's. Human beings & society (at least a CIVIL) society is aware of the fact that we are all interdependent / interrelated.
That is why TAXPAYERS MONEY PAYS for PRISON SYSTEMS to KEEP criminals AWAY from the general population, I wont delve into REHABILITATION w/ an inferior intellect BUT how many Masters Degrees are behind bars?
'Ever see this line on a job application: "Have you ever been convicted of a felony?" If ex cons can't find honest work because no one will hire them, what do you expect?
I actually did notice the disproportionate ethnic distribution amongst the prison population.
Statistically, minorities commit more crimes. But is this because they're genetically wired to, or because the majority assumes them be, and create a self-fulfilling prophecy? Had I been denied all honest work because of racial prejudice, I'd probably be dealing drugs. Before long, I'd be in prison, and reinforcing racist opinions by strengthening the ethnic crime statistics.
You need to remember that some also end up in jail because they choose to take that route, regardless of people trying to help them or not. I know a lot of minorities in my school skip class and act out just because, which outnumbers white people for some reason. It's all self-propogating at this point.
It's really difficult to say that minorities don't have the same opportunities as majorities, because it's simply not true. In fact, I know here in the states, minorities are more inclined to be hired simply due to the fact that they're minorities, and the majorities are becoming the "minorities."
yeah we're all human... that's no joke! i've been in some fucked up situations, been in trouble, came close to having some real problems for myself. but i decided to change my life, take hold of the steering wheel and guide my destination... that's the difference between I and a criminal in prison

Start by making them work every day.

some of the people in prison deserve a worse punishment and some people in prison deserve or less harsh punishment but hey LIFE IS UNFAIR!
anyone who ever commits homicide though might as well just be executed soon as their found guilty anything else is a huge waste.
