If it gets to a point where one would be able to make transactions where metals are treated as currency in stores, how would the "value structure" be allocated since you can't cut a gold coin in half? Maybe banks will start issuing true gold backed notes if you leave bullion in a bank? I plan on getting more silver this month.

I would caution against buying over the internet, as the government may end up having a record of what Gold & Silver you have. Confiscation is possible.

How do we know Gold and Silver aren't just another Bubble, like the Stock Market in the late 90s, and Housing in 2007?
Just throwing it out there, I believe in Gold, but you never know the Games that are being played at the top, until it's too late.

I don't think gold is a bubble because there is no mania out there. Plus, look where we are right now. How can they pull back on the money faucet right now? The fed has painted themselves into a corner. If they keep the loose monetary policy the dollar goes and gold goes to the moon. If they pull back on the monetary policy, the economy falls off a cliff (as if things were good now). Plus the gov't wants a weak dollar, or else it cannot afford to pay back this insane amount of debt.

If you were a Country, say China for example, with massive amounts of Gold, wouldn't you want to Sell during Record breaking Highs to cash in?
That's the Rule, Buy Low Sell High, that's how the fortunes are made, not by chasing something at the top.

I agree with you on Gold & Silver. Just because we're going to collapse doesn't mean that we'll be in Mad Max land. There will still be businesses of some types, though they may be few. There will still be transactions taking place, and of course, there will be vibrant black market. Gold and Silver will be important in all of those areas. I would caution against buying over the internet, as the government may end up having a record of what Gold & Silver you have. Confiscation is possible.

Gold does not oxidize, of all the gold mined on the planet amounts to less than an ounce per person. People will kill other people for gold. Gold is gold everywhere and the supply can only be increased if you can first afford to dig it out of the ground. That will require energy. Where are energy prices going? Up, that's right. Yes, directly with cash is nice due to not being traceable. However, it is much more costly at every local coin dealer that I have visited. I like getting more for my money. Plus, the guy that I purchase silver from is in NY and I'm not about to road trip there to pay him cash (if he even would deal with cash).

Have you looked at it. Google "Satam Al Suqami passport" and look at images. Its in better shape than my passport and my passport ain't hit no building at 500mph, survived a fireball hot enough to melt steel but not singe paper, then have 200,000 tons rubble fall on top it. I don't think the dollar will collapse like you may think it will ? they will raise taxes or interest rates or cause some kind of scam to prop up the dollar. and screw people out of the gold and silver in some kind of way. so just try to do the best you can . fishing or hunting or farming for food . wood for energy . make moonshine. wash clothes in river, make peace with people and live your life and enjoy .

Swami knows best :) US is worlds largest food producer so there will be no food shortages. Its taxes people have to worry about, they bleed you dry to pay for all the debt. People have to loose their ego and learn live cheaply, trade in that car for a scooter etc.

think of it this way. the dollar is a stock certificate in a company, a massive company, and they are now printing the certificates at a record rate and handing them out everywhere....i think its time to sell or invest into "real money"

People like HS Dent are predicting short term inflation followed by long term deflation. Unless people can blow US500k on gold, cannot see how it will preserve a persons standard of living over the long term. Better to reduce debt and minimize living expenses as much as possible.

Why do you write this parsnip stuff all the time? Is it because you think it's a funny word? I just want to understand. The mere mention of a semi-obscure vegetable isn't that hilarious - esp. when repeated ad naseum, despite their mention as a projectile. I don't know, maybe everyone else loves to see the phrase throwing parsnips in every blog and video comment. Maybe I'm the only one who doesn't erupt in laughter. No offense - just don't get it, and am tired of seeing it.

lol. And yes, I do believe that pigs would love to eat parsnips. Parsnips are root veggies right? They are quite good, in fact, in a vegetarian book of mine there is actually a recipe for parsnip pie, but it's an English book, and here in CA I haven't been able to find parsnips.

Also... Silver bullion bars are okay for wealth preservation, but are usually too large to barter with (unless you're buying something really expensive).

Also, I have heard that they are very vulnerable to being "forged"; in other words, cored out, and then re-filled with some other silver-colored metal, and all smoothed over to be undetectable...

Gold was confiscated by our corrupt US government back in 1933. When the shit hits the fan, that will most likely happen again. Also, most of us common folk who watch Reg's vids cannot afford to buy large amounts of gold.
I placing my bet with junk silver coins. I have thousands of them... dimes, quarters and halves. They are easily recognizable, they are small and easy to carry. IMO, this will be the money of choice when the SHTF.
