Fuck, I just came out the snatch and I fuckin adore this song !!! Babies my age don't know JACK SHIT ! ! ! ... Crap, I'm out - this is the doctors computer!! I hear him coming!
@unclefreakinmike It's possible to hear it on alt rock stations like 104.1 MRQ in CT. Plus there's always Romy and Michelle's High School Reunion. (lol)
while i can see how this song might have been the "germ" from which "about a girl" by nirvana grew, you can see how Kurt takes the song somewhere distinctly his own and different adding on many other qualities that just seem to make "about a girl" really "click" into a great pop song. It would be a gross overstatement that Kurt stole it.
The song blood and roses the video, the dangerously close the movie, what a perfect match. I love Mike Mesaros played the bass that song I miss him how is he doing? why he left the band? I love you Mike I respect your wishes Yours Truely, Mindy Cain
Takes me back to my 77 Grand Prix with the T-Tops out and that 400 rolling down the back roads in NE Ark. Life was so cool then. THis song still is, and life is getting cooler again by the day.
this song will always bring back my heydays in the 80's when parachute pants and mullets ruled! and I had the 72 Rally Sport Camaro with the whale tail spoiler, wish I woulda kept that!
Can someone tell us what happened to Pat to make him put on so much weight?? Was it a medical problem, or did he just let himself go? I'm not ridiculing him; it's just that it seems like a relatively recent thing. If it IS medical, then I hope he recovers soon.
@firesidechet That's awfully good spelling for a three year old...I have to assume you're just joshin...but it's cool because you like the Smithereens. ;)
How is Pat doing? I picked up Esp for You and it was such a great record. I didn't realize they had done prior records. What happened to Mike the bassist. It's funny (ever so slightly) how Jim looks like he can't get comfortable with this guitar..
I remember a quote from Jim talking about his Blood & Roses solo: "I was trying real hard to play something aggressive, so I pounded down three beers and did it in one take. I used to get a lot of solos that way."
@matt21571 thats an awesome story lol. i wish i coulda seen these guys, they are playing near me this july but its a damn free concert.......too many drunks are gonna be there i can tell
I was at Hecksher Park In Huntington Long Island today, and they played.. There were thousands of people there, and they sounded amazing.. They are a great band..
I checked this band, back in '85, up at Park West, in UT, they came with Red Hot, and I won't mention the other band, Oingo........they were solid then, as of their ptyle now.....live
@jtminutisme1 - Too bad for me I wasn't checking out new music in '85. I was stuck in the early 70's then. I missed out on great stuff like this. BTW, I think Oingo had some great music in their day.
wow. i love how the awesome guitar riff has a very western/grundgey feel. killer song. id like it if someone could tell me what this song is about (it seems to hav a powerful meening).
I used to have one of there C.D's that an old girlfriend of mine who had a brother, and he turned me on to them. BUT alas by that time they were no longer together. or no longer cutting C.D's
