The simulation is perfect but the design is not well engineered (just my opinion)! The speed of production line is constant so when the diameter in drum increases the angular velocity have to be decreased! This design don't do this job!
Is there any possible way that you could send the files. I Am having an extremely hard time getting my to work right. I love this and thank you in advance.
In Inventor Dynamic simulation you can plot the path of any point using Trace function. This trace can be created with reference to any other part (moving or stationary). For this example I created a straight line coming straight out of the yellow follower & touching the cylinder of the winder. When the follower moves, this line moves with it from one side to the other. Wire winding simulated by tracing the tip of this line with reference to the rotating cylinder.
Hi, it is exactly what I am looking for! could you explain a bit more details? how do "build a cable" and how does it "point trace" on the cylinder? Thanks a lot! I m working on Inventor.

Very useful for my designs.
Where can i find the steps how to model the truck for the rope?

@mshakeelm Fantastic application. A great example that Inventor isn't just a modeling tool. It's a design and engineering tool. Wonderful work.

@mshakeelm is that a double lead screw on the follower mechanism?

excellent clip,
Could you send me the steps on how to model rope? please?
I have project where we use cables between set of pulleys.
Thanks

@ipsgrewal I m not sure if you can do it with SWX with Inventor it was a child's play!!! if you use Inventor I can help you!

@nickjayyy yes the cable is wound using point trace on the cylinder
