I have a japanese friend who laughed at me when I tried to speak in japanese with him. I'm traumatized. LOL (stupid, but true)
Studying more than one hour for me it's just impossible. Japanese studying for me is like a second life, a life I should hide SPECIALLY from the parents, the family. They see it as an embarrassement and it ruins my motivation.
Your tips are awesome, I also use internet for Kanji, specially with Rikaichan app. But to me a book would be like another source of learning. :)
@nanaichihachihachi Aww, that's horrible! Why does your family see your Japanese studies as an embarrassment? It should be the complete opposite! Like an accomplishment! I'm sorry to hear you have to keep it apart from your family. D;
@nanaichihachihachi And about the Japanese friend laughing at you, don't worry about that. Trust me. I've been laughed at so many times in the beginning, and even now sometimes. I mean, if you really think about it, (not to be mean to Japanese people in general) when you hear an obvious Japanese beginner at learning English, they make the most hilarious mistakes, and you sometimes can't help but laugh. So I'm sure it was just natural for him to laugh, so don't take it too hard on yourself. ;D
5 hours a day keibi D: How did you ever do that D; I can't study anything for more than half an hour before I get bored OTL And I agree with you on the kanji stuff! Though I do have a book to look them up, but I find the ones I learn on the internet...magazine scans, websites ect. I think people who use flash cards just dont realy know where to look to learn in a more fun way!
@KaxyzKoi Magazines are great as well! They have both many Kanji to learn from and great grammar usage throughout.
haha, I was able to do five hours a day because I rarely even had a life. That's a joke. I really just wanted to advance as fast as I could, and when I get determined, I get determined, haha.
Thanks for the tips! I always forget kanji if I don't write them over and over and over again, but I'm going to try your internet trick. Thanks so much!
Thanks for the tips! I always forget kanji if I don't write it over and over and over again, but I'm going to try your internet trick. And I can't get over the fact that you studied 5 hours a day! すごい!
Hiya Keibichan, thanks for replying to my question about learning Japanese. Well I usually refer to my mum's old text books, but since you mention about learning Kanji from the internet I think that would be a better choice too! As for learning to speak, putting a few hours a day does make sense, I tend to study it on and off, I guess that's my reason why I am having a hard time. And having a Japanese friend helps!! Thanks again Keibichan!
Sounds like you hate kanji as much as I do! It's seriously such a pain in the ass. Seriously. I'm not a flash card user either... I sort of just come to memorize them after seeing them enough times. It's really hard to get stroke order down though. It's two completely different things to be able to recognize them and to be able to write them. That's why I type everything (^_-) Soooo lazy lol. Also, are you taking Japanese in high school or are you in university now?
How did you first start studying the kanji? I know you said you read blogs and just pick out the ones you dont know from there to study, but, what about before? Or could you already read enough to understand which kanji you needed to know?
I know very very basic things, and when I read I can get a idea but not totally in detail what's being discussed, with your style of learning, how would you recommend I should learn it?
@11049311 For the first hundred or two hundred Kanji in my intermediate study, I think I came across them over like Japanese forums and whatnot. Again, I rarely ever used flashcards. The only time I used repetition for Kanji study was at school, and that was forced in a way, so I didn't have a choice but to do so. From the beginning, using my style of learning, I have used Japanese forums/websites/etc. Even FaceBook in Japanese! Anything to just keep myself in a Kanji filled environment haha.
@11049311 And yes, I could already read enough by the time. I'm not sure about everyone in general, but for me, it just took about 4-5 months after I started studying the language in terms of vocabulary to finally be able to get to the Kanji part of the language study. I'm sure it's different for everyone though. Still, I would say 4-6 months after starting is a decent enough time to start with Kanji.
This is really interesting because I've been preping myself for flashcards for Korean and Japanese, And, I'm not sure, if there is a SPECIFIC chart to look at? Because there are hirigana katakana, is one simpler than the other? aha, thank you!! I subbed your friend, she's VERY funny! Looking forward to your next video!
@MAJORLYCL3VER Hiragana and Katakana are different. With those, you definitely need to review over and over again until they come almost naturally to you. Kanji, however, is what I was talking about in the video to be the thing I can't stand reviewing over with flash cards and whatnot. The reason is because there are about 2500+ Kanji one would need to know just to be able to get around in Japan, I guess. That, if you ask me, is a lot of Kanji to remember haha.
You do know you wrote your youtube as your twitter? ._.
