  • DAMN ROBOT, YOU SCARY!

  • As previously mentioned, the fuel is nothing more than off-the-shelf carbeurator cleaner, $3 in the automotive chemical aisle. i just put the can in and a servo pushes the top. That's it. The pilot is a stripped-down grill lighter, re-fillable with butane. Quite simple, but not the best for high winds.

  • how did you get such a large flame? did you have to modify the nozzle or was it just the type of can you used. if so wat can was it?

  • nick that is so F@#@ awesome man i want to know ho to build it I NEED ONE. =)

this is zane by the way

  • anybody got some marshmallows?

  • what's the fuel for the flame?

  • WOW!

  • man thats beast!

  • ATTENTION: to all who wanted to see Nelson III apart, there is now a video for that (search: Nelson III: the breakdown)

  • I agree, that was magnificent how far the flame went out. And maybe you could try it with different colors! Copper's color is neat because it's a blue ish green.

  • I know it looks cool (Cu=green, Li=red, K=yellowish red), but the fuel being burned is of-the-shelf carburator cleaner. If I could find 50% methanol / 50% CuCl in a 12oz aerosol can, I would love to try it. But untill then...

  • Because of the feedback I've been getting, I think I'll post a video on making a Nelson type robot. I'll probably take Nelson III apart and show the basic components being put back together.

  • yes. you MUST.

  • AMAZING AWESOMENESS!!! Do you have the blueprints so I can make one?

IT'S THE ULTIMATE ARSON WEAPON, MAN!!!

    COOL!

  • holy crap dude dude! this is really impressive! you should make a shell that you can put on top of it, with holes for the antenna and where the fire sprays out! and also im impressed by how far the flame goes! VERY nice work.

  • Thanks! Although a "shell" would look great, (and I would like one) it's just one more thing to go wrong. Nelson II caught fire once because fuel got behind the heat shield. I have thought about it, though.

  • yeah, you could make it out of cardboard and then for an example fibreglass it i and it should be fireproof. then you would be able to use it as a real battlebot.

  • @ianjrab fill the shell with expanse fireproof foam... i did, on another project it works

  • Holy crap, my friend! You are a freaking genius...very cool. If anyone can make an Iron Man suit out of legos...it will be you!

  • how did you make this mate - its amazing!

  • thank you! there were two "nelson" models before this one, and i used those to see what i liked and what i didn't. nelson iii has the features i liked, while fixing the problems i didn't like.

  • how do you only have 157 views ? this is great nice job you rock

  • That's great! you should use a can of trinity nitro blast or nitro clean instead, it's for cleaning nitro buggy chassis and is super flammable pure methyl alcohol. get it at a hobby store that sells RC.

  • thanks! i wanted to make this one compatable with a lot of different fuels, and most come in 11-12 oz cans with a push nozzle. i would love to try something like pure methynol, but there arent any hobby shops arround here.
