In the end corporate interests will prevail. Americans must submitt to high work standards. No time for family....all work and no family. That is the American way...ask anyone specially Bill Oreilly or Hannity.
I always cry when I see this scene. There has even been times when I really try to not cry, I always fail. I know the scene, I know exactly what is going to happen and when, I know that he does not actually die. But when I hear Ben say dad I always start crying. I'm a guy and this is one of the very few movies that I have cried in.
A man determined to see his family one last time.....He knew that without that machine he was gonna die, he did not care. He loved his family. He wanted to see them, be with them. He probably felt bad he did not make that 200 year old promise thing to his daughter....

Brilliant scene. A father staring death in the face, gives his life to save his son from making the same life damaging mistakes he did. Amazing.
