  • Dude it's ur pen, there's not going to be anything wrong with the modbook the nib on the pen is defective so get ur panties out of a twist, and it's nt illegal because if it was apple wouldn't give them their operating system, so stfu

  • u kinda sound like charlie sheen.

  • That's why I dont buy anything for apple products that isn't from apple.

  • omg, i thought i was the only one that had this problem. yes i have exactly the same problem. like you i set it make to them to fix up the problem and they sent it back to me not done anything to it and saying there are no problems.

because of this problem im afraid to tern it of. im not kidding, it is on all the time and i only put it in sleep mode to try not get that problem.

  • @roary1000 If I were you I'd either send them this link and say this is exactly what's happening to you or make a video of your own and publish it to youtube. The later is really the better way to go since there can be no dispute. In my case every time I sent my machine back to Axiotron the device would behave itself so their engineers didn't understand the problem. I made this video to prove I wasn't crazy. Once they saw what was happening on my end, they agreed to fix it right away.

  • @roary1000 Also, before I upgraded to snow leopard I had to press the reset button often on startup to get the wacom tablet active (I only had to press it once since the repair, a major improvement over the way it behaved in the beginning) since upgrading though I haven't had to touch it. Let me also say, the Modbook is a great device, the envy of everyone who's seen it with me. I totally understand your frustration, but don't let it get you down. They'll get it right eventually.

  • This product is very illegal, dude.

  • @emilowich How do you figure?

  • @DocPepperSpray They put Apple's software, which they own, on their device.

  • @emilowich It's not their hardware, it is a macbook pro with a wacom married to it. I do believe they have Apples blessing.

  • @DocPepperSpray I don't think anyone has Apple's blessing. It's also illegal to buy Mac OS X and install onto your computer.

  • @emilowich dude... this is definitely NOT illegal, it's advertised in MacWorld for cryin out lowed...

  • The guy is a moron!

  • mayb u need 2 change ur stylas, im not a expert or anything but it might work?

  • hey dude i think you would have to change that pen. If you give it a try it may actually work! Because the pen is 50 dollars and the modbook about 1000 dollars or more so just give it a try before changing your modbook;p

  • IT COULD BE UR PEN

  • @MrMitchell1801 - It wasn't Axiotron replaced the Wacom unit. The Pen had nothing to do with it, though I did eventually change out the pen for the more advanced model.

  • after u kill those motherfuckers out ur bubble gum and rub it into their hair... it'll b fun just do it

  • wow those workshop dudes didnt do shit you should drive down there, crash your car through their wall and woop some ass. i recommened using an m95 sniper rifle and a baseball bat wrapped in barbed wire, Hell Yeah!!!

  • try your right hand

  • I guess

  • you weren't even touching it

  • you had the lock on

  • buy a cintiq dude. i bought one because of tom richmond recomendation on his blog. tom richmond is right, cintiq12wx is the ultimate tablet. been using it for 6 month now, an i wish i had bought it earlier. peace ")

  • Oh yes, the Cintiq is nice! The reason why I went for the modbook this cycle was because I wanted something I could also travel with. When I get some more money together you better believe I'll pick up the cintiq.. --however there is a modbook pro in the pipe.

It might just be a difficult decision to make once I get to that place financially.

  • Hello! SO, I was browsing the axiotron forums (on my grandma's compuer which has dial-up... I can't even explain the frustration XD) and I found this. As it turns out, I've been having the exact problem as you! Except I haven't been able to get mine to work since yesterday. Goodness, I've restarted it a LOT. So, I was wondering if you know exactly what the problem was? Because, if I ship it in for repairs, the people might want to know what they're fixing... Thanks!

  • I think they said there was something wrong with the Wacom board.

  • BY an HP touchsmart laptop its cheaper

  • Yeah, except HP build quality is absolute shit, the touchscreen has about 1/10 the sensitivity levels this thing has, and HP has the most unattractive design for their computers in the world.

HP is the biggest fucking waste of money ever.

  • agreed +1

  • Not a tablet...

But still that HP is great! my grandma has one...

  • Yeah HP is cool

  • I hope they have fixed this issue as I my modbook should arrive tomorrow or Monday. I will give it a shot, but if things don't work well, I will sent it back and take the restocking hit (ouch). I have been through the sent it back, ad naseum, routine before.

Other than the startup issue, what do you think of the Modbook? I have a stand for a tablet pc, a bluetooth keyboard and mouse, so am planning on using it as a standard mac as well as a slate tablet.

  • Once the device worked as advertised it was fantastic. Honestly. I would recommend it to any illustrator or graphics design person, although the Modbook Pro might turn out to be the better buy in the future.

  • think your pen is dead

  • That's not how a Wacom works. ;)

  • well i thought after 10,000hours the pen needed to be replaced??? well that is waht i thought

  • I've never heard that before, but I can't see why that's true. The pen doesn't actually have a battery in it. I thought the chip inside the pen drew what little power it needed when you make contact with the Wacom tablet.

  • This is true. There is like no electronic-ness in the pen. When you get a Wacom tab, all the pointing is the pad, the means of making the point is the pen (mine came with a mouse), but they aren't a marvel of science; the tab is it!

I love when ppl look at the video, the ONE instance you do something and assume you're stupid.

  • Hi, just FYI, (I don't know if anyone has pointed this out) or is Axiotron has mentioned it. The reason it didn't work the first time was that you touched the pen to the screen before the blue lights came back on the second time. That'll screw up the reset. I know it's frustrating, I want Axiotron to fix this issue too, but that might explain why sometimes it seems to work and other times it doesn't.

  • Actually, no. After seeing the video OWC finally repaired the problem. So far, my mod book has been working well enough since being repaired.

  • I also have problems with inkbook. The pen functions erratically.

  • I am having the same problem. I managed to plug in a mouse and get the cursor going, unplug the mouse, and the pen works! I agree that something stinks about this pen driver.

    I also have problems with

  • I don't want to say anything particularly bad about Axiotron. Their tech support is being more then helpful with the problem, it's just that they aren't see what I'm seeing when it gets back in the shop.
