  • Awesome sound effects, it almost sounds a little bit like a sax.

  • Great stuff!

Could you please share what mic / effects are you using on this?

  • i can't remember if I commented on this. Probably have. Blasted alzheimers hahaha. Anyways, You definitely have to record that first song man. That is just....beautiful.

  • 82 z rules

  • Awesome songs and expression......as good as any pro I have heard

  • man you very sound good but...how the hell can you impersonate Brecker so well????

Seriously though, you sound 99% like him.Scary!!!!

  • Adrian has incredible tone and good songs to play

  • God the more I listen to it, the more it captures me...the flageoletts are incredible!!

    You are truly a master

  • LYRICAL Play! So much influence from Mike B. Love it simply....

  • i think the sounds at the beggining is cool

  • You are a great player !

  • Nobody ever wins a yamaha contest not playing Yamaha sax. Dont you know Japanese ? :)

  • g funk i love this

  • Nice...great 8th notes right in there like any one of the great pros. keep it up and looking forward to hearing more.

  • Excellent!

  • Wow. I love the first song!! I can't stop listening. Have you got any CD?? Sorry for my bad english. Greetings from México.

  • @Gordocagada , Hey thanks for you comment.OMG this song was only for the yamaha competition. I have no simple recording of that shit, only this video. But I definitely have to record it. That's true. Thanks again, stay tuned Tarnfisch

PS: I got on itunes more stuff, just type in "martin adrian" and "newnotes"

  • It is a very simple playback with a poor sound (not the sax, only the playback )

To produce a good recording I could make a new playback or play the song with my band, that's true. , all the best from tarnfisch

  • muito afinado !

    very refined !

where are you from ?what is that mouthpiece?

  • Hey @adriano2525ful ! Thank you for your comment !

I am from Cologne in Germany. I play a Dukoff d9 Power chamber in this video. At the moment I play a jodyjazz 7 DV, but I think I should try a theowanne mouthpiece. I guess his mouthpieces are amazing. Keep swinging, Tarnfisch

  • This is amazing! I mean AMAZING! FANTASTIC! Keep it up!

I want to switch from clarinet to saxophone, Have any suggestions on what brands of saxophones I should get, that would have great sound, etc..?

  • @champlinparkhs

Thx for your comment. There are many saxophones on the market, which are great. The sounds comes at 40% from your mouthpiece at 30% from your embourchure, at 20% from the neck and at 10% from the corpus. This is my experience over the years. Yamaha, Selmer are my favorite brands. On video I play a Dukoff D9 power chamber But I will get a theo wanne mouthpiece when I can afford it. I think at the moment he is state of the art. Guardala is history . stay tuned, Tarnfisch

  • You have a great tone, and full command of your instrument. Keep jammin !!!

  • i love first track man

  • Comment removed

  • Love your ideas man!!

  • I dig your tenor playing. Not so much the tracks. The music is great, but the sound of the instrument arent the best (at least in the first track). I can tell you like michael brecker. You sound great.Keep up the good work

  • i like the towel , it looks really cool .gonna wear that with my life shows too!!

    greetz Marc

by the way nice playing man!!

  • love the zoom in, zoom out effect. lol

  • WOW!! You're A PRO!! I Wish i Could Play Like That On My Saxophone.

  • hey ! THANK YOU ALL for your great and inspiring comments ! I keep working on my playing everyday. All the best from Tarnfisch from Cologne (Germany)

  • selmer all the way expet for the new 80 series their good but it dosen't fit my characteristics but the mark vi and sba and the ba are my favorite saxs

    wish i could afford one

  • some of the best tenor playin i've seen

  • Awesome!!!!!

  • Absolutely spot on, mate....been watching you tube for years but this is the first time I've posted a comment.....Awe inspiring stuff....ALL THE BEST...GO TO THE TOP!!!

  • I agree. Sounds so good! Very cool, man!

    Best regards.

  • thats a freaking cool sound you got there, man !

  • growing love....great tune....great player.....certainly pro level.....this should be in the top 10 ten of smooth jazz charts....great sound and expression.....you need a little more of of a band to back you

  • love it, so smooth.

  • I love your music & your sound all the best

  • yeah, not a fan of yamaha's. i'm a selmer man.

  • He's playing on a Selmer. If not a Selmer body, at least a Selmer neck.

Also, dude, you play great. Keep it up.

  • hey man, thanks a lot. means everything!

  • Hey SeefuSefirosu, hey kylegeee, thank you a lot for your comments! It is a Selmer Super Action 1 from 1982. Now I switched to Yamaha and posted a new Video:

    "Martin Adrian mit Hansmartin Kleine-Horst-LIVE"

The Yamaha means effortless phrasing and effortless highnotes. If you not overblow it (unfortunately this happens sometimes on my new video) the sound is clear and still got enough warm. All the best, tarnfisch

  • Great video! Who filmed the video?.....very good!

  • i dont like yamaha saxes

  • Great Sound...just wondering why you don't just get a cushioned neck strap rather than putting a towel between your neck and the strap? Wouldn't that be a little better? lol

  • awesome!

your sound is fantastic! love the material as well. did you write it?

what effects unit are you using on the first part? it sounds great

  • sorry for the double post but im also interested in what mouthpiece youre using,

your playing has got a real brecker vibe

  • Hi me007963, thx for your nice words. At this video I use a old dukoff D9 mouthpiece and my old selmer Super Action 1 and Rico La Voz medium Reed.

  • Hi me007963, the effect is a chorus-like effect on my yamaha reverb device. The effect is called ..... oh I can't remember the name. The first two tunes are originals written by me. Cheers

    Martin

  • HI mee007963, thanks for your comment. First two titels are written by me, the last song is a standart (beautiful love) Using Chorus and reverb. Cheers Tarnfisch

  • Very nice playing. LOL @ the choreography.

  • Did you win the contest?

  • HI Maverick, I was one of the 5 finalists. Winner was Thorsten Skringer. There was no ranking with the rest of us. Best wishes Martin

  • This is definitely great music...you remind me a lot of Kirk Whalum, mixed with some Brecker. You make me miss my tenor that's for sure! 5 stars!

  • wow suena bien

  • what a beautifully written solo.. congratulations from heart..

  • lol

    he's playing a selmer not a yamaha

  • You were thinking that too huh? LOL

  • Yes, I agree

  • Just because yamaha is hosting the contest doesn't mean it was yamaha only contest...

  • @ProAmati Ironic isn't it.

    Represenation Fail.

  • @ProAmati oh the irony

  • I love the blues riffs man, you got some soul on that horn.

    Keep blowin'! =]

  • fantastic............

  • wow°!!! great sound and great technique!! thats everything i can say! (; excellent job!! how long do you play saxophone? is this part of your job, or is it "just" your hobby=? keep it up man!

  • how did you get your tone to sound computerized like that on the first song

  • Hi Saxmaster1230, I sent my audiosignal through a multi-effect device. I used a reverb/chorus mixed type of effect. cheers Tarnfisch

  • Fantstic all the way around!!! It is posted that you are playing a Yamaha. But the neck and finish looks like a selmer. Could you let me know what saxophone mouthpiece and reed you are using to get your awesome sound.

  • It was a yamaha-competition but everyone could play any brand of sax he wants. I play on this recording a Selmer Super Action 1. I play a old (soft-metal, plumbiferous?, some folks say that it is toxic) dukoff D9.

Now I play a completely different setup and hope to post some new stuff soon.

    cheers , Tarnfisch

  • Reed: La Voz medium

  • Thanks for the reply. I've been playing the sax for 37 years and have had a Selmer Mark VI, Yamaha YTS 62 and Yamaha YTS 875 EXS. Recently, I have been playing a Guardala mouthpiece.

I have listened to a lot of players over the years and you should be awfully proud of your abilities. In the last 2 days I have listened to your Yamaha Saxcontest 2003 at least 10 times. Keep up the good work and I look forward to hearing you play again

  • great stuff..

yamaha contest on a selmer :)

  • Excellent tone, I'm really supprised that there are no other comments Bro! loved the solo's great work keep it coming I'd love to see more
