  • LOL

  • People do not comment on how people conduct. Everyone has their own way of conducting. Conducting should be something you enjoy in your own way. Find what makes you feel gool:)

  • whenever i listen to this song by a french horn choir (Vienna Horns) i cant help but get into a groove at 0:15 lol.

    I love this song!!!!

  • I like it. it was very clean and crisp.

  • lol i like you couch, and wonderful contucting :D you just need the score man

  • yikes...are you serious? Are you trying to conduct or physically assault someone?

  • in respons to rocbowl i agree. either way the movement gives it more feeling then just some highschool drum major.

  • Don't move legs! you shouldn't do it, if you want proffesional conducting

  • Speaking from experience as a musician who has seen my share of good and bad directing, I must say that this is excellent conducting that can seen from the back row (where I usually sit) and has plenty of fluidity and emotion. Every director will have a different style, and that is something to be proud of and not to bash. I personally don't see a problem with bouncing as long as you don't end up tripping :). Good Job!

  • GREAT Job! I played trumpet for 9 years (Marching Band & Orchestra) and was Drum Major for 3 years. Although the bobbing at the knees is not typical when conducting, I didn't really see a big problem with it. Very good conducting, especially with no music in front of you.

  • F A I L

  • Don't bob your knees and you look like a drum major...idk if thats what u were going for or not...

  • hahaha, i wish all conductors cued trombones like you (2:53)

  • @gunt189 you mean timpanis and trombones at 2:53?

nice conducting for a non professional conductor...

if you really want a challenge try an opera :D

  • a nada zambito...

  • A beast! I'm a whore for drama. LOL You delivered it, BUT you still conducted the music effectively!

As a band geek, I don't understand people getting mad @ cues...but if you all expect a robot who oscillates a baton in the x & y planes only...ugh

*puts on flame retardant "I <3 moot" shirt*

  • ^.......same here...lol

  • Hmmm, I enjoyed this. Although many people dislike how much you moved and some of the cues you gave, I didn't find a problem with it. If many of those who critized your cues watched Leonard Bernstein I wonder what they would say, since he jumped up and down and went really over board, but that's what happens when you get into the music! Its quite natural for some, but most stick to the regular beat patterns, so continue with what you're doing.

    R. Woods

    Clarinetist/Conductor

  • Hm. I was looking for a resource recording of Williams' "Summon the Heroes" from the 96 games for some score study, and found you instead.

Were you a drum major in high school? That would explain away all the stylistic choices. Sometimes I find having a baton to be confining.

Music's purpose is to evoke emotion, and your job as a conductor is to convey that emotion to your players. This piece requires the large flourishes and grandeur that you provide - and you're having fun to boot!

  • I not like the others who have ctricized you.... Note, there were some minor errors and mistakes, BUT, OVERALL a wonderful job... I give an A (95.5 out of a possible 100).....

    I have a request though:

    Get a recording of

    "Till Eulenspiegel" by R. Strauss........

Though it's done in 6/8 it's a REAL BITCH to conduct !!!!! Good Luck .......

    Your fave french horn player,

    Julaibeeb

  • Hehe, very funny parody of a conductor! :D

    (note the sarcasm)

Dont want to be mean or anything, but just as "bandboy" said, wtf are u doing with your left hand? And the boxing , what was that good for? But i like the dancing you did, looked really funny ^^

And u should never drop the beat with your hand! You got 2 hands, one for keeping the beat, the other to make directions and conduct the ensemble.

    Keep trying! (naabcake) ^^

  • Hi James, I just wanted to leave a few comments. At the beginning your beats are not very clear and if you were conducting a real ensemble you'd have errors. Try not to leave the left hand hanging in the air with no particular purpose, try not to shift body wait so much when cueing. TOO many circular gestures. Head bobbing, the boxing, and dancing is quite unnecessary. Give the ensemble what they need not what you think makes you look good! Try not to be all over the place like a ribbon twirler!

  • Great arm movements. Now try to compose something that inspires your grandchildren to do the same thing. In a 3D hologram, right in front of your eyes! YAH!

  • Dude: well done. And one of my fave John Williams scores.

  • Very well conducted, indeed! Also Jon Williams is one of my favourite composers! How long have you been conducting?

  • some years now. i took a short class in high school and one class at college- and a one month-long summer conducting camp... thanks! god bless!

  • @PianoNils VERY WELL???? THIS GUY IS WAY OF BEAT AND HE CLEARY IS OBSESSED WITH FORMATAS!!!

  • great but in one part in the middle you were conducting a 2-4 time signiture... but it was great :)

  • it looks to be like you are doing cues and not really conducting. lol you should be a member of the boxing team if you want to be punching things down like that

    geez

  • i was hoping he was gonna bow
