  • I make the stuff from fertilizer and aluminum powder...its one of those $2 for a homemade one versus $8 for an official Tannerite target.

  • The tannerite itself isn't illegal, the fact that he was on probation and not allowed to own weapons or explosives was what caused his problems. And on an unrelated note, I want his job if he can afford a .50 cal, 100 lbs of tannerite, and to blow up a truck.

  • I live in the town this happened in it was awesome!! And the only reason it was a big deal is the nuke alarms got triggered

  • That was a righteous detonation! Side note: If your actions directly cause a minimum of five people to shit their pants, you will be arrested and questioned by the authorities. Charges pending.

  • A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

  • "They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety."

  • the stuff found in hardware stores (if you know what you are doing) is way more powerful than Tannerite... grow up America.

According to the ATF, binary explosives are legal if you have the land to set them off. Read and research before commenting.

  • how that illegal?, i can take oxygen/acetylene and put in a garbage bag, and blow windows out form 300 yards

  • Hell yeah they should be afraid.

The government should fear the people, not the other way around.

  • I thought that tannerite was 100% legal... Isn't that what FPSRussia said?

  • Is it just me, or is Brian's "step-mom" a LOT younger than his dad, and HOTTT?

  • Guess what? You can make the same goddamn thing out of instant cold packs and aluminum powder. Lets ban those.

  • @phgHunter , they probably will. "A government afraid of the people is honest government."

  • There was a friend of mine turned in to the authorities for blowing up 4lbs of tannerite on top of a propane cylinder from a grill. The fire marshal tried his ass off to get the guy charged with something until the sheriff's deputy of all people had to call the district attorney and have him tell the fire marshal there was nothing illegal about what had been done.

  • fuck the goverment

  • It's hilarious. This stuff has been available for YEARS without a slew of imaginary terrorist attacks, but you KNOW that someone is going to scream for a ban because "a terrorist could/might/maybe/somehow find a way to use this blow something up.

  • @lplozada I was about to say that.

How long has this stuff been avaliable? 10 years? 20? 30? No-one has used it for terrorism. The only terrorism that happens uses gasoline and fertilizer, and they don't even work most of the time.

Hey, we should ban fertilizer. And ban shipping wood boxes, because they could have explosives in them. And gasoline. And ban swimming after eating. And loose pants. Refined sugars and rusty objects.

  • guys.he got in trouble because he used more than 50lbs of tannerite.

and just like gun powder the law states it is illeagal to posses more than 50lbs of tannerite

write your local congress representive man and ask nicely to allow civilians to have more rifle targets

  • Sinister motives? Tanerite is not a practical explosive. You need a high powered rifle to set it off. I have yet to hear of a terror attack with tannerite. Stupid lib media.

  • my friend showed me this..i wanna make things go boom for the fun he told me he help me shoot the gun properly so i dont hurt myself

  • The only crime i can see is brians dad married to that hot milf. What the fuck is she doing with an old fart like that?

  • Tannerite isperfectly legal..

  • As you can see, things that go boom are pretty much no fun up here in MN because the goddamn law always gets involved. How was he supposed to know there was a nuclear powerplant nearby? He was out on a fuckin lake and it was on his own property. I realise he had a criminal record and all that crap but that's a different story.

  • now he is marked as a terrorist by homeland security for the rest of his life. you can get that shit off amazon and ebay, and can be shipped by ups, fedex, and usps. there is NO shipping hazard at all. it is a 2 part mixture and separate they are neutral. thats NOT a "device". the tannerite was legally purchased and it was on private property, the court knew they couldnt charge him with anything. all they could possibly get him for is disturbing the peace

  • were can i see the video of the actual explosion?

  • Poor guy

  • Anybody know what happened to that guy?

  • If you're on probation and are not allowed to posses a firearm, it's probably not a good idea to set off 100lbs of binary explosive with a 50cal rifle lol

  • He should be spanked by his step-mother, very hard, for causing such a scene. Other than that, I don't see what the problem is here. Private property, legal binary target, safety procedures followed. DDT THE ATF!

  • On Probation and he still used a rifle and explosives.

    Dumb idea !

  • Comment removed

  • A its legal PER THE ATF to buy the components and to buy them in any any any ammount as long as you use it as soon as you mix it and not store it mixed its still legal. There is no Crime in doing the use right after mixing His crime was touching a gun while on probation had his idiot friend not recorded it they would have never known who what when where or why if they cleaned it up right away and now we know why stupid is as stupid does don't video tape it and its all good DUMB ASS!!!!

  • That's horse shit We can drive 5 min down the road and buy Tannerite from our local Gun store

  • What a silly, childish country we live in. But, it's a good one for crybabies and girly-boy law enforcement.

  • @MifuneBoBune

just makes us guys look more badass to women!

  • he was already on probation and not allowed to posses either a firearm or explosives. so he obtains the largest caliber gun possible AND explosives all at one time. that would most certainly land you in jail.

  • Tannerite is completely harmless unless put in the wrong hands. The only thing that should be done with the distribution of tannerite is a back ground check just like you need to go through when purchasing a fire arm.

  • Seriously leave the man alone, HEs having fun on his OWN land! Gov. needs to keep their nose out of other peoples buisness. I swear this country is losing more and more common sence every day.

  • People had better wake the hell up, there is nothing wrong with what he did. what the fuck is this country coming to. attack the working poor let the rich do whatever???

  • FYI, I blow up shit all the time with homemade tannie. No one busts my balls about it. You know why. Because I'm not a felon.

  • FUN

  • umm, he made something of his go boom on his property, no one got hurt, what country are we in again? AMERICA, so what is the problem? What next, how we go poop is regulated? Out of control - control freaks... AHHHHHHH

  • @epictangent it's mainly because he already had a felon

  • "device"? you mean a few buckets full of a chemical you can purchase legally? i'm all for protecting the US, fuck the terrorists (ALL OF THEM), but wow, this guy did nothing illegal. DHS needs to chill out just a little bit.

  • He was charged with a crime because when he used the tannerite he was on probation, and was not legally allowed to posses firearms or explosives.

  • The reason he was prosecuted is because he was already a convicted felon. He was not allowed to possess a firearm or binary explosives. If you google "Brian Childs Tannerite" you'll find the actual police complaint in PDF. The last paragraph on the 2nd page clearly states his previous conviction. Plenty of other people have done the same thing without persecution. This is CNN's fault for reporting an incomplete story.

  • fuck you gov.

  • OK, I really want to know the charges involved here. If he mixed the individual chemicals on site, did not store the mixed explosives, or transport them, or sell them, or put on a display for money then there is absolutely nothing illegal about what he did.

You damn libtards never cease to amaze me with your ignorance and stupidity. Let's just ban everything, end privacy, end fun, and live in the Soviet Union.

  • @musher454 Or a commercial blasting cap or equivelant.. Tannerite is nothing but slightly modified ammonal.

  • For a lot less he could have gotten some 34-0-0 AN, mixed it with about 5% AL (powder is hard to get but flake can be powdered without a lot of effort) and gotten the same effect. The bottom line of it all is that it pretty conclusively demonstrates the futility of gun and other arms control when you can blow things up with fertilizer. Of course the WTC was effectively dropped with box cutters. Maybe we should ban them too.....

  • get your fucking tantrite before they start banning it damm cant have any fun anymore

  • @musher454 2.200fps min

  • The guy was on probation at the time and was not legally allowed to possess firearms or explosives. Fact check you fucking retards. Google is free.

  • unreal, stop violating our rights as americans! Just b/c it made some fag in washington upset. didnt do one ting illegal, per say.

  • well if people believe that buying this stuff is bad, then do a criminal check of people who r gonna buy the stuff

  • I thought this guy had a previous felony, which would make it so he cannot own or use a firearm in the first place.

  • From what i understand the guy had felonies already, so guns and explosives aren't for him.

Otherwise I don't see the problem he used the explosive target mixture properly!

  • Since when is a jug of powder a "device"?

  • Can Tannerite Kill?

  • The TANNERITE King!!!!!

  • three double u's dot thehighroad. org/archive/index. php/t-331479.html

  • My friends uncle is the one that shot the video!

  • @Woodsbuggy67 did you read the title?

  • This is serious shit. Based on the dimensions of a 10 cu yd dump box (12 feet long), the frame rate (30/sec), and the travel of the large, rightward moving fragment, I calculate it is moving about 415 ft/sec, or 283 mph. If this were a car bomb it would have killed at least a dozen people in a crowd, and it certainly could have killed the person filming this, since he was 300 yards away and they found fragments 1/4 mile (440 yards away). Interesting, but mortally stupid as executed.

  • @ArchiteuthisNeb I am impressed....by both now - the explosion and your calculations.

  • uh oh guys better stock up on tannerite before the liberals ban everything fun again.

  • @1337Flyboy crap, cnn just watched comedy central, were doomed!!!

  • @1337Flyboy If they do want to take it we need to find a place in the middle of nowhere mix up ALL the tannerite in everyones iventories then tell pelosi, boxer, feinstein, reid, and all the other shitheads to go load it up wait till they get close and then the anti gun movement will be literly vaporized : )

  • @1337Flyboy its easy as fuck to make. lol. "bianary explosives" + google.... yup...

  • What do you expect from the Communist News Network!

  • Thanks for telling all the bad guys...

  • Top story: Expanding water vapor threatens country. Internet to blame.

Can we fire Politicians early? Please?

  • Device.. lol... fucking democrats...

  • Comment removed

  • not a device you buy like that , non-flammable a target prop

  • device???!what a load of B/S!

you mix the two chemicals together in a container & it can only be detonated with a high power riffle

it can sit in burning diesel fuel for an hour and not be ignited the "Law enforcment officials" need to get their heads out of their asses and do a little research

that stupid fatass redneck needs to have a can of it duct taped to his head and shot

idiots like him are the reason the government keeps trying to control and run our lives and makes B/S laws

  • @chemicallust77

    Agreed 1000%

  • maybe ied's are the iraqi equivalent to hill billy good times LOL

  • Can anyone tell me if this is as loud as pyrotechnic salutes used in the containers it's meant to be shot with?

  • people like this fuckin idiot ruin it for others soon the will make it illegal because of this asshole !

  • He wasn't arrested for "doing nothing illegal", he was on parole and not supposed to have firearms or explosives while on parole. THAT's the problem.

  • Brain's Father, check. Brain's Mother? Oh gold digging step mother? Check.

Sheriff Dean Egghead needs to be fired. This stuff has been available for decades! and our society has managed to slowly crumble along degenerately on its own... Whoever arrested this man needs to have their badge suspended. "He was on probation..." WHAT FUCKING LAW DID HE BRAKE?!?! CUZ THEY RELEASED HIM ALREADY! So it sounds like unlawful harassment to me.

  • The only law broken was common sense. Possibly a probation violation from what I've read.

  • No big deal just set off a sensor at a nuclear power plant couple miles away bet it was one hell of a shock to the ground

  • Its just stupid how the government needs to harass people like this. Lets find the people who make explosions for major motion pictures and have them charged with felonies too. Anyone know what state this was in?

  • This video forgets to mention that this guy was already on probation when he was caught using explosives and firearms, hence the criminal charges.

  • Must be a brain dead vikings fan lol!

  • That's how we roll in minnesota...

  • "To those with more sinister motives..." I think if someone really wants to destroy something, they would buy dynamite or something on the black market. They wouldn't buy something like this, where they have to mix it before hand and shoot it with a high velocity rifle.

  • I think my first video will be 100lbs of tannerite vs 4 cars....

Hmmm I wonder if CNN will come to my door?

At the end of August I think will do!

  • @beastieboydickie Your so gunna send me an invite, Right?

  • @duryeallc Get a ticket to alaska :)

  • Once again, retards on CNN who don't know what the fuck they are talking about blowing something out of proportion. Why am I surprised?

  • how else was he supposed to scrap that truck? easier to haul in little pieces.

  • Who cares he used 100lbs of tannerite. That would've costed you a fortune.

Or, you could have 20lbs of ammonium nitrate with a little sprinkle of aluminum powder for the EXACT SAME BANG for a fraction of the cost.

  • @reddog418 yeah, but in this case, buying legal tannerite saved his ass. If he had bought illegal ANAL, he would've been in jail for sure. Ive always thought this was a curiosity though, because basically tannerite can be set off by highly confined f**** powder(theatre). So it is basically an industrial grade explosives set for sale and can be used as a terrorist weapon. But if you are going to be a terrorist, you would just go buy icepacks or fertilizer anyway. So whatever then.

  • @reddog418 AN+AL is no more powerful than Tannerite. Tannerite is about 95% AN anyway. You would still use 100 lbs but it would cost a lot less.

  • I'm surprised they didn't charge him with possession of a firearm on private property too. Why not arrest FPS Russia for blowing up zombies with this stuff too?

  • THAT.....WAS........AWESOME!!!!!!!

  • Pussification of America. Land of the free my ass.

  • It really feels like we live in a free country when a guy can't even play around with a "legal" product, cleared by BATF on his own property. I can understand the concern for his safety, BUT he did nothing illegal. That is just good ol' country boys gettin down on the farm right there. Trust me, with the chemicals on a farm he could have made a hell of a lot bigger bomb..

  • What a load of bollocks. Its your land which makes it your wright to do what you want with it. How can anyone have a problem with this. Just another example of this world going to shit!! I will do what i want when i want how i want a no one can tell me different. Why should some elected sponge who has no wright who has never worked a day in thier life tell me what to do with my free time!! I say do more my friend!! Good work!!!

  • geez he did nothing wrong its freakin TANNERITE PEOPLE!!!!

  • its only tanerite you have to shoot it to make it go off, i do not get why they are making such a big fuss over it . This world is getting stupid. let him have his fun mabey if he just picked another location no one would care

  • outlaw it all you want. thats only gonna make me buy BULK AMMONIUM NITRATE AND ALUMINUM POWDER!!>!>!> and ill just make TRUCK LOADS OF IT MY SELF!. god damn this world can be so retarded

  • Better outlaw propane tanks, someone might blow em up!

  • stupid fucking CNN always with there pussy lib media bias, tanerite is completly legal get over it.

  • stupid fucking CNN always with there pussy lib media bias, tanerite is completly legal get over it.

  • its he's proporty he's gun he's fucking tannerite wat the fuck is wrong with that

  • PD...need's to suck my fuckin dick, CAN YOU SAY POLICE STATE

  • "Homemade bomb?" Hardly... this is a commercially produced binary explosive. NOT illegal to purchase and manufacture, let alone detonate on your own property.

Those uptight clowns would shit themselves if they knew the stuff I've done in the past.

  • @sadeyedangel totally agree with that. if they new half the stuff iv done id be locked up in gauntanamo and the key thrown away.

  • @UndoneB4Broken

    Ha ha! Lol. Rock on.

  • well if he was already on probation i can see why he got felonies just touching a gun on probation is felony much less setting of a 100lb bomb. idiots like this are why my state banned bottle rockets

  • of course CNN, the liberal gun hating, fun hating, pussy-ass, socialist, "we-wish-our-rating-were-higher" failure of a media outlet would cover something like this... i'm surprised the rest of the "alphabet-soup" media didn't blow this out of proportion as well!!!

  • Hey should hangout with the FPS russian guy!

  • he didnt do jack shit wrong

  • next they'll outlaw mentos and coke

  • Thank you, Brian, for ruining the fun of tannerite for all of us. They're going to ban the shit out of it now.

  • "device he made"? all he did was buy a few hundred dollars in explosive marksman targets and pile them up

  • It is just tannarite... they keep saying device he made... all you gotta do is put it in a mcdonalds cup and shoot it and it explodes... its used for explosive targets... ugh, we are a nation of pussys

  • Rosie O'Donnel's lawn chair collapsed and caused buildings to fall in and she bought that chair over the internet.

    so whaaa waaaa waaa

  • it was even on his own proberty. whats the deal? children ;)

  • leave it up to the dead wing police department do anything fun around there and your goin to jail, bunch of wanna be loud exhaust seat belt traffic cops

  • lol, You wish John Wayne was still alive!!! He was an ACTOR!!!! And his real name was MARION!!!!

  • LOL, I live in Welch about 15 miles away from there and I remember hearing that blast in my house, loud and clear. BOOOM! the windows rattled and we're like, WTF was that!

  • whats wrong with that? thats fucking badass, doesnt anyone understand that?

  • @ronniephillips money talks

  • Good grief Charlie Brown, next thing you know firecrackers will be outlawed in MN too,,, Oh that's right they already are.

  • the bomb set off the vagina squad to go cry and be pussy

  • @Greno hahahahaha!

  • soooo rediculous this guy did nothing wrong 1. Its on his property 2. the stuff is legal 3. he did not use it in a harmful or terroristic way. Police should worry about the real bad guys

  • @matthewbarton77 1) Near a power plant (a nuclear one at that which is just a few miles down the road), 2) possesion of a firearm while on probation 3) Purchasing and possessing explosives while on probation.

  • "Somebody could buy 100 pounds of this stuff and ..."

Yeah, someone could also take a crowbar and kill somebody with it. Are you going to argue against crowbars, too?

  • @pcgeek86: Cute argument.

A modest proposal: Let's make C4s legal and sell them at local grocery stores. This is because you can kill someone with merely using your bare hands. Since your it's legal to possess a potentially deadly pair of hands, C4s should also be made legal. Both have the potential to kill!!!111!!

Btw, I think 100 pounds of tannerite is just a little more destructive than a crowbar. In the same manner, I think 100 lbs of C4 is more destructive than your bare hands ='(

  • @AznInsurrection777 And? Your counter argument is beyond flawed good sir. This is a completely legal product for purchase and distribution in the US, and the only way to set it off with a high velocity rifle(i.e pistols can't do nothing to it) with at least .223/2000 fps. Best part? Doesn't cause fires, only a huge boom of sound and smoke.

    Cute argument.

  • @AznInsurrection777 Tannerite is already legal you idiot.

  • @pcgeek86 you can kill someone with a toothbrush if you sharpened the end of it.....let's make those illegal.

  • tannerite is fun stuff!!

  • I love it..."device." Like a pile of Tannerite is really a device of any sort.

  • Makes me want to "stock up" on Tannerite....afraid they will make it illegal. Is that the effect they want to make? May have been bad judgement to use so much close to nuke plant, but make that the point....not the fact that the product itself was a legal explosive available on internet.

  • one half pound is maximum recommend. so at 200 times max... it was felt at the nuclear power plant . so he is stupid, don't set off a legal bomb next door to a power plant and maybe they will let it slide. but seriously Darwin should of sent you an award for your experiment how much does 100 lbs cost ... terrorism dosen't exist

  • damn he should be bombing his stepmoms ass and pussy with his cock!

  • yeah...the big fat blue collar white guy is the terrorist...go fuck off

  • what did you see how young his stepmother is!!!!

  • that is soo retarded all he did was make a 50 pounder which is legal they got pissie cuz it set a alarm

  • @VoodooTactical1 It was actually 100 pounds and he got fined and jail time because he was on probation and wasn't supposed to possess any firearms, and it did set off the alarm at the local nuclear power plant. I'm from Minnesota and not too far from where this happened so I know all about it. =) lol

  • i love how cnn takes such a liberal stand on things like this. I cant beleive he has 3 felony's just for using legal explosives.

  • i love how CNN only gives you half the info about this tannerite such as its legal, harmless until mixed. Also, the guys mother's comment is out of context in that it doesnt say whos bad judgement it was; her sons or homeland security's. And i wouldnt call a bucket of this powder a device. A device has at least a timer, wires and probably nails or some such stuff in it. Fucking media lol

  • it was close to a nuclear plant

  • Fuck the police.

  • He was already on probation and not allowed to posess or fire any firearms at the time of making this video.. Thats the main issue..

  • all it is is tannerite. its a mixyure of ammonium nitrate and aluminum powder. yes it does explode and yes it is awesome when it does. it is legal in all 50 states. if you don't believe me chaecl your local laws. it is classified as a black powder and you can own at most 50 pounds legally

  • @gstalans You can make 50 lbs legally, but he made 100.

  • So tannerite sells these exploding targets at 10lb a case for like $90. They have a bundle deal selling 6 cases for $384. You can purchase up to 100 units. That means you can get 60,000 lbs of tannerite for $38,400. Imagine the blast one could achieve with this!

  • awesome

  • fucking bullshit. wtf is the point of being american anymore if you cant blow up or shoot your own shit?

  • Its not legal to mix more than a 50Lb batch but how are the even suppost to regulate that?

  • tanerite is 100% legal

  • fuck you cnn

  • Device? God damn media. It's freakin Tannerite. You mix the stuff, and put it in some kind of container. And shoot it with a high powered rifle. You can't light it with a fuse, or detonate it, it has to be shot with a rifle. That's the whole point of it..you make a 1lb target 500 yards away, and you know you hit it cause it makes a loud boom. This guy is an idiot for detonating 100lbs of this stuff. 10 pounds almost made my ears bleed from 250 yards away.

  • @pr0nstarz your retarded its not that loud you vagina

  • I live just outside Red Wing, and just so people know the 3 felonies he is being charged with was due to the fact of setting off a bunch of alarms at the nuclear power plant a few miles away. Although it is an awesome explosion, it is a serious matter when it concerns nuclear power and radiation.

  • What are the cops? They are physiologically unsound people sitting behind blue uniforms and 10 year old crown victorias

  • I think the problem with Tannerite is that it basically is Ammonal without 1 component and is essentially a commercial counterpart of ANFO. It can be used to make explosive devices. Nothing stops a radical fuck to buy 200lbs of this on ebay, spice it up a little and blow up a school.

Get over the "i like to blow stuff up in my back yard" attitude and realize that someone might like to blow up your house.

With all the hatred against the US this stuff is just what some people were looking for.

  • @Buuub08 do you even know what the fuck tanerite is?

  • @bjizzle123 Yes i do.

A commercial name for a AN based explosive (AN, AP and metal powders as catalyst).

And? All you basically need is elementary school physics knowledge to increase blast effects and get an explosive that will be more effective than TNT/RDX, especially against structures.
