@besman007 Yeah if you look at my other videos, especially the longer version of this one you will see that I have put 4.10's in it now, 6th gear at 80 = 2200 RPM's I can get about 26 MPG in this car with the 4.10 setup.
@TheMarkdoster the first console was from a Pontiac Bonneville, the console that is in it now is a console from a Taurus SHO, almost fit with not cutting, go figure :) Cluster I bought off Ebay had to wire up interface harness to make it work, but it wasn't too bad.
@tietie1424 Honestly didn't care too much about the looks, I just wanted to have a factory looking gauge cluster that gave me the benefits of having all the gauges. Looked at your vid's nice car by the way, I can't believe Chevy stooped as low as to put those rims on a Camaro, ha had to get you back.
@syclnjr hahaha good one. were even. and thanks. Caprices also run in my family my uncle has one and its really really nice. He's done allot to it too.
T56 cost me 1400 bucks shipped to my door with 35,000 miles on it, or something like that, total price with everything, including new clutch, crossmember, etc. about 2800 bucks.
What is funny about that is no not really. an LT-1 works more efficiently at or about 2200 RPM, I didn't have it like that for long, I have 4.10's in it now, I will post up a new vid when summer hits. More mods are done too.
got the same stuff in my 95 caprice and i got the same rpm in 6th gear lol. as far as the analog gagues mine had it stock ia mpretty sure (could be that 96's came with digital only but not sure) but very nice job man
@dansdashizzle522 where did I say that?! Also 200 miles physically impossible, probably not with a smaller gear i.e. 2.73 or something like that, as you can see by my vid the relative RPM's versus speed with 3.08's is ridiculous. not really saying that you are wrong, and I would never try it but with the right gearing anything is possible. How does Nascar do it then?!
dang, that's sweet!! i have an 83 caprice, doing the 350 TBI swap, but the only difference is i'm putting a T5 trans in mine, off a 89-90 camaro, with a 9c1 diff, 3.42s. wish me luck. :)
Thanks man I appreciate it. I am going to take some more video come spring, it may have something new under the hood.:) Good luck with your swap though. Just take your time, it will come out good.
those t5 trannies off the irocs are weak. you're better off getting the six speed. Gearing also helps and wakes these cars up if you have shorter (higher numerically) gears in the rear end. 4.11s will work good on caprices.
The dash is out of a 95 Z28 Camaro, to do it you have to modify the dash structure a little and make up a new harness, all in all about a days work, pretty straight forward though.
Thanks bud, it came out really well. I am still working the bugs out, mainly car stuff not trans related. You can get away with the mod for about 2000 if you make some of the parts yourself.
Just woundering what gears your axle have in it and if you'll be putting some steaper ones in for better take off. Mileage probably wouldn't suffer since you'd be able to use
dude. totally badass. love those B body chevys man...
I have a 91 wagon...

If you use lower gear ratio on the rear end to like a 3.73 or a 4.10 you can use 6th gear no problem..

@wootness3000 That is funny man, I get around 27 on the highway right now with 4.10s. :)
syclnjr 1 year ago
@syclnjr 4.10s were the gears in this video? Wow, I have a LT1 out of a 96 Impala SS and a T56 from a Viper. Want to put it all in my 280ZX.
mflores910 1 year ago
would a anolog cluster for a 96 impala fit a 94 caprice or do you have to do wiring for that like you did for the camaro?
hambone6988 1 year ago
@hambone6988 There is quite abit of wiring involved in that swap, plus you don't have all the gauges, just as easy to swap in a camaro cluster.

what kind of center console did you use ? and where did you get the z 28 cluster?

@tietie1424 really if you think that GM did this cluster, then I don't know. I installed this myself.

This is a really nice T56 conversion, but you know you need to open it up and put an aftermarket exhaust on it.

Already done, runs like a champ, I have heads and cam for it in the garage waiting for time to put them on. :)

my 94 caprice 9c1 had digital gauge and no rpm gauge....i topped it out a 320kmh on the highway comin homw one night...i miss that beast :(

its physically impossible to get a caprice or impala to do 200mph

someone else said he had his caprice up to 320kmh which is 200 mph
you would need alot i mean alot of power to get our cars to 200mph and with a 4l60 you need at least 3.08 to do 200
dansdashizzle522 2 years ago
Are those custom gauges? I thought they had different ones for the 90's caprices..

it was in response to someone else's previous comment of having a T5 in their caprice
