It was reveal by Tom Hanks(the director of the movie) that the boys....was really playing That Thing you do...before the shooting starts...they undergo 6 mths of rock and roll BOOT CAMP....that taught them to play the guitar, the drum, the base...so according to Tom Hanks...what you hear on screen was really THE WONDERS playing...and not a recording.....that's really cool....and according to LIv Tyler(Faye), they...in a way are already a real rock and roll band.....
