I've wanted one of these for SO long!.....your video was very informative....you really do a good job of demonstrating the features of these products!
Your the best. Natural, easy pace, relaxed voice, conversational AND you actually know how to use it!! No one else that did a review knew how to swivel it to the front using the handle(which I think is the beauty of it) Thanks
How does it cross the "boobs" ? I have a jumbo..and need more room. I am looking at the Sitka and Kodiak and Monsoon but I wonder how these would look walking into Wal-Mart of a mall? I just need some guidance here
@stealthyeros Hmmmmm.... good question. Where is that green corduroy jacket....? I think it's packed in the attic for the winter. When I get my spring stuff down I'll come back here and let ya know. Thx!
It's about time someone did a video demonstrating the Sitka with a woman. People just do not realize that women too, are interested in this sort of thing!
Great 360 review of this bag. Looking to get their left handed version. Great job.
P.S. enjoyed having a womans review.....doesn't always have to be about how many guns and spare ammo you can carry. Some of us actually don't live in fear.
I have a hard time wearing this for over 30 minutes(gets painful)... I'm 6ft tall @ 130lb... I've adjusted the straps multiple times and distributed the weight as even as possible... Any advice?
Roz, Great review as always. I have one big gripe with this style of sling pack. The main carry strap isn't compatible with strong side hip CCW (except for lefties), as the strap would cover the handgun and /or pin the concealing garment over the weapon. The carry strap is fixed in position and runs from the left shoulder to right hip. The Lunada and it siblings have a switchable, ambidexterous carry strap, so the wearer can have an unobstructed draw. Just a thought. Keep the vids coming.
@jtr109 not shure if anyone said this but the pack itself was designed for CCW on the inside most zipper where you can put a camelbak one side is a full loop velcro field and is made to interact with a special holster made by either maxpedition or it will work with 5.11 tactical's B.U.B.S(back up belt system) which is a full velcro holster system that will hold everything from a gun to baton and more or if you allready own a molle compatible holster they make a conversion that turns the
@jtr109 velcro loop section into a molle field and you can put whatever you want on that, blackhawk! makes a great holster (the serpa line) that works great in this situation but thats just my .02C and sorry if it sounds like im dropping names im not trying to its just that those are the only companies that make the specified equippment
@lynette1953 Yeah. right. haha Use your stuff for whatever you use it for, yah? I don't go to combat. I have 3 nephews that serve our country and do that. At this point of my life I hike on mountains trails.
Thanks so much for this review, looks like the perfect hiking pack. I've got the 5.11 tactical Rush24, but that just seems too huge for a day hike. Will be buying one of these now, cheers.
Outstanding review . . you keep things moving along, give the best visual appreciation . . and nice "final review" at the end. Incidently, the sleeve on the side for a water bottle makes a perfect pocket for a Max. Janus pocket extension . . fits into the pocket like it was made for it. Very professional review. Thanks
I bought my Sitka last year based on your review! It's such a great bag. What do you think of the smaller Noatak that's coming out? Do you think you'll get one or is it too close in size to the Remora?
Really, again I have to say you do such fantastic reviews. I wanted to learn about the Sitka and knew from other videos that you had one and figured you likely did a very good review of it. Once again you proved me right. Never considered this type of pack before but I think you've done a great job explaining and proving the concept. Thank you very much once again.
Awesome review! My burning question was "how much junk can I stash in the main compartment?" Looks like plenty for my purposes. I was really close to ordering the Monsoon for the extra space but this looks just right. Thank you.
I just want to say, I've been watching your reviews for about a week now (huge maxpedition fan myself) and wanted to say you must have the best Sitka review out there. I was hung up between the Sitka and the kodiak for awhile now and your review helped alot in the decision.
nice review! but.......do we get a 2010 RoscoeBa calendar? i'm thinking a couple shots in evening dress....a few t shirt and jeans.......and of course a few bikini shots! what do you think?
Yep, great video like always. I would have to agree with some comments that any single strap gearslinger would not be a good idea for long hauls. You have all the weight on one shoulder and that causes discomfort quickly. Go with a full dual strap backpack for prolonged carry. I used to own a Fatboy and had to let it go for that reason, but I think it was just overloaded. Now Im trying to grab a Remora for more lightweight EDC...
One VERY IMPORTANT point to make concerning the Sitka, is that it is not ambidextorous like most MP bags are. It is designed for RH's, and to be carried over the left shoulder.
i find this bag very comfortable, with the use of the extra side strap, the bag resting on the deltoid area. The single strap also leaves complete use of the right arm.
I took this bag on a 16 mile hike. I loaded this thing up, its SUCKS! backpain/shoulderpain. I went with a falcon II. This pack is good for maybe carrying 5Ibs. at max. Worthless pack.
Nice review. I have the Sabercat and was trying to find something that would expand my capability/time in the woods, by just including another bag. It would need to sit above the Sabercat though, and I think this would work. It looks like it would carry a change of clothes and some extra food just fine.
Thx Faol. I poked around online for you to help answer your Q. The Sabercat looks pretty large. I am 5'7 and the Sitka goes all the way down to my belt. If you're much taller, I think it may sit high enough away from the Sabercat. At my height that setup wouldn't work. I've not seen a Lunada or Malaga in person but maybe they are an alternative for you?
Thanks for the response. I am going to head to the Brigade Quartermaster headquarters in north Atlanta tomorrow to be able to handle the different models. I will take my Sabercat and see how it matches up.
See my separate review video answering this question. I thought YouTube was supposed to put that video here... The answer is, I've not seen a Kodiak but the Sitka does (barely) zip up a 17" laptop. It can be done though.
I just a spent a weekend outside in a continuos rain and became very aware of water proofness of a backpack and how it is designed. I was wondering what the result would be for the sitka and it's bigger brother the Kodiak. Would the beefy zippers be a water leak area after a couple of hours of constant down pour? Just how water proof are these bags? Is the water bladder compartment going to allow the water running off your hat and shoulders to be channeled into the inside of the pack.
I just picked up mine today in Digital cam. Thanks for your review. I always liked Mapedition gear . first time I saw it was on a 15 hour flight to the UAE and this guy had some gearslinger stuff I was impressed with it and had to ask him who made the gear and how I could get some. I got the web site from him and I have been really happy ever since. keep up the great reviews ....

What do you think is the maximum reasonable carry load (weight) for all day urban carry (6 hours moving + 4 hours sitting), using this pack?
How practical is it really for CCW? Is ease of draw an issue?
