to this day this car still looks stylish. It almost has a Citroen look to it. If they made a car that looked like this today......I would beg borrow and steal to come up with the money to buy one
last of the cool looking cars made in America, studebaker was doing good upto the late 50's early 60's but then the so called Big Three couldnt handle it that another car company was making better looking cars then them ,
so they tried to ruin studebaker with cheating and backstabbing.and making them look bad.
when they first came out in the 50tys,we thought there were 20ty yrs a head of there time,in 2006 we went to the stude nationals,in Omaha, and got to se them again,we were wrong about the 20yrs,they were 50ty yrs a head of there time, watch the Avanti video -at Bonniville---168mph stock, good video beautiful car--
I have a very solid 1956 Studebaker 4 Door Sedan President with a good strong engine needs complete Restoration if anyone is interested. It is in Redding, Ca. I have all the trim.
I will tell you all I know about the car. I have $2,500.00 in it. Make me a good solid offer. I can deliver it within 100 miles for fuel. Good Glass and extra parts.
For Studebaker Lovers you just missed seeing a great collection of fine Studebakers in Springfield, Mo. I was going but my 96 Dodge didn't make the trip. Had I drove either my 1950 or 1951 Studebaker's I woud have made the 2000 plus miles with no problems.
I own three Studebaker's and still I feel they are far more superior than my newer more modern gas guzzlers.
¡Beautiful car!, excellent fron any angle, with the Citroen DS is one of the most beautiful designs, i want to give you and advice, please put the original hubcaps.
@ARCANOE , your welcome and yes lovely automoblie, but I just found this car in a parking lot, I do not own it, I would Love to own this car, and yes stock wheel covers would great , glad you enjoyed, did you see the video of under this cars hood ?
This is the car that put Studebaker out of business. How do you follow that act? The design was 25 years ahead of it's time....those are not the stock wheel covers however.
@ROCKSTARCRANE Studebaker says it was the fact they could never recover from the sheetmetal workers strike which happened just after this car was produced not to mention taking on Packard. The Lark saved them for another good 4 years in 1960. They were in full production including parts the day it was decided to close the South Bend Plant. The Canadian plant remained open for two more years I believe.
Gotta love a Loewy coupe!

its beauty is marked by its simplicity and cleanliness. My Grand Dad had a few Studs, he said they were very reliable and never broke down.
