Oh my gosh, I had no idea this could be interpreted the way it was in the video! I was so innocent! I had always envisioned a woman lamenting a romantic encounter she had with someone many years ago on a summer vacation, possibly on a cruise ship. One where thery were both very infatuated with each other, but ultimately had to leave one another.

This music video rends me. It's so plausible., but shattering. Now everytime I hear this, my heart will break for a completely different reason.
