When is this gonna come out on DVD? What the hell? It's time! I've always loved this film. The music is great and the movie is phenominal. This is one of my all time favorite movies. Whoever owns the rights to this needs to release it for the fans. So what if it don't sell a million copies. It ain't about that.
F. Paul Wilson who wrote the source novel of The Keep did pen a sequel novel some years later. Saw it in a bookstore once, but I can't remember the name. I think it was about son of the Scott Glenn character. If you look up Wilson's novels online you could probably find out about it.
Rasalom is featured several of Wilson's novels, including The Keep, Reborn, Reprisal, Nightworld, and the Repairman Jack novels Rasalom is typically depicted as male, but he is capable of changing his appearance, including his apparent gender. He favors using anagrams of his name, such as Molasar, Sara Lom, Rafe Losmara, etc.
There is some confusion about name and source of this song. First of all: what you hear has nothing to do with Betrayal as announced in the headline. Betrayal is from the Sorcerer movie. Second: what we really hear is a cover version of the original sound track song released by "The Fantasy Merchants" in 1996. They covered several Keep songs. The Fantasy Merchants version was released on their album "The Keep" (Tsunami label, Germany). It was also released on some other unofficial Keep-releases.
The original TD version of this song is named "the challenger's arrival" and can be found on the official TD release (TDI music label) "The Keep - Original motion picture soundtrack". Unfortunatelly this CD release was strickly limited and only sold on concerts as far as I know. It can be found from time to time at ebay (not below 50 Euro).
1983 horror film about a group of German soldiers in 1941 stationed in an ancient castle who unleash an immortal being that if freed from The Keep would destroy the world.
Well its a horror-fantasy, almost like a modern fairy tale. It was a big flop back in 1983, but it has developed a following thanks to fans like myself of director Michael Mann. Mann's restored 3 hour cut was shown a year ago at a UK festival and hope it comes to DVD. I'm sure the film's flaws will be greatly improved in the longer version.
Did you get to see the 3 hour cut? I would kill for that! I bought the Manhunter collector's set, when it came out. I so want this movie on DVD (not a bootleg).
Oh I wish! The only theatrical release it got that I know of was last year at a British film festival. I haven't heard a thing about the longer cut since. I'm not sure why its not on video yet. But the sooner the better!
Logos has part of a track. The music that played during the scene when the soldiers were pulling the cross out of the wall is on the first part of Logos.
I enjoyed this. Certainly the most underated movie of 1983
