I support the UC Berkeley Republicans! I can't believe that people have the nerve to call them racist when SB 185 itself is a RACIST bill. Basing someone's admittance to college on anything other than their academic/sports achievements is RIDICULOUS.

White men have to pay the most for cupcakes because they have historically had a monopoly on the means for cupcake production, and until other groups are given the same access to said means, there will be pockets of cupcake-less groups caught in a vicious cycle.

@dohturdrago and obviously I'm commenting on how "equal access" is a myth. I was accepted to Berkeley because of my qualifications, which according to the BCR puts everyone on a level playing field. However, there were likely fewer impediments to my attaining those qualifications because I'm white. I could participate in extracurricular activities because I had the money for a musical instrument and time that didn't need to be spent at a necessary job. [continued]

@dohturdrago And of course there are plenty of white families that don't have much capital and have to work harder than mine, but white poverty was 8.6% in 2008, while black poverty (for instance) was 24.7%. If the impoverished are less likely to attend college (for financial or other reasons), then a greater percentage of black people (than white people) remain uneducated, making it harder for them or their children to elevate. @Maverick988 equal playing field is equal playing field. why certain groups of population aren't succeeding while others do - is beside the point here. skewing the system to officially favor one racial or gender group over another is discriminatory, which is what that cupcake sale is clearly demonstrating.
