Disney isn't trying to subliminally advertise anything-the reason that they put discreet sex references into the films is because the animators are overworked and underpaid, which puts people in a mischevious mood. The animators are just trying to see what they can get away with; they don't mean anything by it.

I'll tell you what it looks like..... it looks like you worry too much about children having sex. Perhaps you have not noticed all the video games out there and movies out there with intense violence. Sex at an early age should honestly be the least of our worries at this point. I say bring on the subliminal messages of sex to our kids. At least its closer to love than decapitation. =)

The Lion king one actually says SFX not sex. As you can see the line is not straight so it was not supposed to be part of it. It was only part of the trailing grass behind. They put SFX in there to sure how good their animations were from that time

This is just forcing a hidden meaning. I guarantee no child watching the lion king, looks at the stars and says, "Look mommy, that says sex!" I could tell you that your under arm hair spells the word penis, does that mean it's true? Absolutely not. This is a forced connotation! There are no implicit sexual themes in the disney movies, hints of rather crude nature are expressed, but the idea that a splash of water, a row of grass, or a cloud of stars spells the word sex is just pathetic.

You're slightly wrong, I'm afraid. The Rescuers, when shown in theaters, used a different print than the home video release, but the naked woman part was, unfortunately, inserted intentionally. The rest are in too much doubt, though. Thank goodness for Snopes!

@Angel20491 I'll provide an example of subliminal messaging for comparison. Commercials, such as Dove (for example), bombard the public with a certain standard of beauty on a regular basis. They consistently use thin, fair skinned women as a way to sell their products. No one looks at it objectively, but the mind starts to accept that as the ideal beauty. And yes, Dove has done their "real women" models, taking people of all ages and sizes, but this is a great PR move, then it's back to the same

@Angel20491 But that's my point, there is an immense difference between seeing a sexual act, and seeing the word sex written in clouds, and not even clearly mind you. A child's mind is far more susceptible to behavioral changing imagery, such as sex and violence. But looking at Disney objectively, you have to realize that no child is going to be focused on the clouds, or a blurry window. That is what differentiates this from subliminal messaging. Do you see the difference there?

Even if you are five years old you don't know what the word sex means so it wouldn't really affect you on a subconscious level making you want to have it. Its just like a different language since it isn't even in your vocabulary, or mentality yet. Little kids don't usually look at things in a grown up adult view.

I know for a fact the first clip from the Lion King is actually supposed to read "SFX", as a nod to the Special Effects department who were in charge of making that effect. The dildo in Atlantica is a rush job and a rendering error. As for the naked woman in The Rescuers, that is clearly a doctored photo, and poorly done at that.

And I do believe that image in The Rescues is not a trick of the mind. However, I don't buy The Lion King image of the word 'sex' b/c it could be anything your eyes think they see. But if you just watch Hercules, you cannot mistake the fact that Zeus cusses as clear as day.
