The thing I DO have a problem with (being a gamer), is pirating GOOD video games. The use of straight piracy should only be a driving point pushed at companies that are out to 'screw' their customers (Activision/Infinity Ward come to mind). BUT, companies that actually try to deliver GOOD games, while allowing for mods, should be rewarded with purchases. It allows them to release further games and prolong shelf life.

programmers make operating system. they are payed for it once. they aren't payed over and over again for the same code. then Company sells this on cd/dvd for really enormous amounts of money making profit on nothing - cd/dvd + burning cost is really small. programmers are selling their work, code. what does Company sell? what does it loose when someone copies cd/dvd without stealing physical disc from Company? nothing. this would have no sense if there was no additional legal restrictions.
