It was supposed to be a Chaplin mustache, not a Hitler one. Ron was allegedly aiming for the Chaplin vibe, but of course, he should have guessed. Or maybe he had...
First heard this on a saturday scene l.p which featured interviews with all the stars of 74 including david cassidy , gary glitter , sweet , alvin stardust , showaddywaddy etc
According to the book, "Mick Ronson: The Spider with the Platinum Hair", Ron & Russell Mael (Sparks) hired Ronno on their LP "Big Beat" but never released that recording. They released a version with guitarist Jeffrey Salen.
@Richie979 Even worked with the same producer MACK over the years! Feel the same way here; even had the fortunate opportunity to see them live two times over here...
Gosh...I remember this from 1974 and I still have a copy of this interview album.....best band ever....no doubt !!! The interviewer was Sally James. Every schoolboy's dream at the time...but not mine. I was more into Bolan...lol
Our tour guide back then and there even said he knew where their homes were... Don't know if he really did - and wouldn't have wanted to bother anyone anyhow by ringing the bell and say 'Hi... ah, it's me';-)
@horsedoctorman Probably their very unstereotypically LA fabulousness. Everybody thought they were British or something when This Town Ain't Big Enough For The Both of Us first came out and especially given their unique and stylish looks when they performed it on TV. I mean can you see a Hitler stache going down well in LA when some Jewish bigwigs run parts of Hollywood? I can't! LOL
Wow, hard to believe they've been around since '74. I remember watching some of their videos when I was a teen and they were always on the periphery of mainstream music. Even in the 80s, they seemed a bit left of center and odd. Anyone know when they officially formed as a group? I don't know too much about their history, pre '80.
Where did You get that? This was not a radio feature, but an exclusive production for the giveaway-record I wrote about in the information text; try to buy one of those to see if this record is rare.
I was in junior high school when I saw these guys on tv back in the 70's I thought they were so cool and unusual and have followed them ever since. They're just GREAT!
Heh heh, great upload. They've made a comeback with the song 'I Can't Believe That You Would Fall For All The Crap In This Song', which they performed on the Jonathan Ross show the other night. Awesome song, hope they do some more. Absolute legends
Thanx & sorry, haven't got THAT (but am searching already old stacks of VHS-tapes for a very obscure german TV-appearance from around '77/78 with a really SURPRISE ending;-)
Yeah, they're one of the things that show the more likable side of America, and of course they aren't as popular as the rest. I think their lack of popularity is sort of a good thing though because I wouldn't want EVERYONE to know who they are. It would make it less special. Plus the only way to get to the peek of popularity today is either with autotune or by being a slut.
This was not taken from "one of their albums", as can be clearly read - if able to of course - in the description. Being not available for 27 years - outside Algeria - counts as 'rare' in my book. Anybody show me 40 other extensive Sparks interviews from 1974 and I'll change my mind; thanx.
(Some people really try HARD to take the fun out of YT...)

@GrayMuse Maybe one the reasons I didn't enjoy BIG BEAT so much, who knows... I certainly wasn't involved in any background decisions then.

OMG..........I had no idea they were around in 1974! The first time I'd ever heard of them was in 1983 with "Cool Places" w/Jane Wiedlin.
