First heard this on a saturday scene l.p which featured interviews with all the stars of 74 including david cassidy , gary glitter , sweet , alvin stardust , showaddywaddy etc

According to the book, "Mick Ronson: The Spider with the Platinum Hair", Ron & Russell Mael (Sparks) hired Ronno on their LP "Big Beat" but never released that recording. They released a version with guitarist Jeffrey Salen.

Gosh...I remember this from 1974 and I still have a copy of this interview album.....best band ever....no doubt !!! The interviewer was Sally James. Every schoolboy's dream at the time...but not mine. I was more into Bolan...lol

Wow, hard to believe they've been around since '74. I remember watching some of their videos when I was a teen and they were always on the periphery of mainstream music. Even in the 80s, they seemed a bit left of center and odd. Anyone know when they officially formed as a group? I don't know too much about their history, pre '80.

Yeah, they're one of the things that show the more likable side of America, and of course they aren't as popular as the rest. I think their lack of popularity is sort of a good thing though because I wouldn't want EVERYONE to know who they are. It would make it less special. Plus the only way to get to the peek of popularity today is either with autotune or by being a slut.
