The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has closed on buying a parcel at 18th and Vine streets in Philadelphia, paving the way for construction of a $70 million landmark temple on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway.
The parcel, now a surface parking lot, traded for around $7.5 million and was bought from an entity affiliated with Klein Co., a Philadelphia real estate developer.
Secularism matters to Mormons because it is a social force intolerant of faith, excluding God from public places, from public debate and even from public manners. It is increasingly bad etiquette to even speak of religion in mixed company ("Keep it to yourself!").

The week-long camps feature high-adventure activities such as rappelling, obstacle courses and day hikes, as well as spiritual events. The purpose is to prepare Mormon teenagers for mission trips and deepen their religious faith.
“We call it the laboratory,” said Kevin Woodward, president of the Springs North Stake.
The camps are held every other year, deep in the mountains about two hours west of Woodland Park. Nearly 1,000 teenagers from the four local stakes will take part through July. Each camp consists of about 150 teens.
Lin Watson, an organizer of the weekend activities, said the donations were sorted and boxed as part of a two-day conference in Saskatoon involving 184 youth aged 14 to 18 from all over Manitoba, Saskatchewan and as far away as Fort Francis, Ont. The annual fun, service and worship event alternates among Winnipeg, Regina and Saskatoon.

The four gospels in the New Testament approach the life of Christ from different points of view with different audiences in mind. The Gospel of John is especially unique in the approach it takes. Huntsman, an associate professor of ancient scripture at BYU, traced the symbolism of blood and water in John's writings.
Blood is symbolic of mortality. It is what nourishes earthly bodies (see Genesis 9:4).
Deep symbolism may be at the heart of Jesus' first recorded miracle: the turning of water into wine. Eric D. Huntsman wrote in the premiere issue of "Studies in the Bible and Antiquity" about "blood and water imagery" in the Gospel of John and how that imagery may explain why the first miracle of Jesus was a sign of his divine sonship.
President Monson said he has been to the Philippines several times and that being there again is "like returning home."

CEBU CITY, Philippines -- President Thomas S. Monson arrived in Cebu on Friday for Sunday's dedication of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' newest temple.
On Saturday, he walked through the new Cebu Philippines Temple, which is the 133rd worldwide.
According to plans presented to the board, the 83,000-square-foot temple will use ivory-colored stone and concrete and feature leaded-glass windows. A 195-foot spire will rise from the center of the three-story structure, capped by a gold-plated statue of a trumpeting angel, a trademark symbol of Mormon temples.
More than a year after the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced plans to build a temple in Gilbert, the church last week unveiled its design for the high-profile structure.
@MormonsLoveFamilies I don't contest that, I don't argue that he doesn't love anybody, I know he loves the whole world and everyone in it, I am a seminarian in Mexico DF. I believe all Protestants branches, Catholic branches, and Orthodoxy branches to be true. We split apart over time in various historical events.. not a great apostasy.
@omiolo Actually, not true, after Vatican II, the Holy See recognized Protestant priesthoods, baptism, and sacraments, they have a Methodist leader, Presbytarian leader, and Anglican Bishop present at least once a year in their councils. Also Calvinists mainly wrote the Novo Ordo Missae... maybe before Vatican II that was the Catholic stance.. not anymore my friend.
All baptisms in the trinitarian formula are also valid in the ROman Catholic Church now...
@CommieThreat google "Roman Catholic church only true church, says Vatican"
and then come back to be about how many churches the Catholic Church believes are true. I think maybe you should now demand they teach REALITY in your seminary.
@omiolo Read up on Vatican II then get back to me.
Various priests in Ogden, UT accepted the sacraments that visiting members recieved in Protestant churches and allowed them to take communion when I was there.
The Novos Ordo Missae was designed to bring Orthodox, Roman Catholics, and Protestants closer... and as a priest I will recognize all of them and allow them communion in my parish.
Unless you are SSPX or one of these Tridentine revivalists you should do the same.
@omiolo sorry for the double comment.. actually, I looked and it appears LDS, but read Vatican II and the writing of the Novos Ordo Missae if you want to clarify that we are one, Roman Catholic, Eastern Orthodox, Protestant.
@CommieThreat Why don't you read what the CURRENT Pope said about the many erroneous interpretations of Vatican II? I think that will help you to see where you have gone wrong.
@omiolo Also the new pope continually meets with the Archbishop of Canterbury to talk about theology and problems arising between the Anglican & Roman churches. He apologized for the trouble he caused with the communion and the celebrate mass together. He also celebrates with Orthodox patriachs. He had the first combined mass in Greece since 1054. Finally, he was the one who invited the calvinists (presbytarians and reformed) to write the Novos Ordo Missae in the 1960s...
@CommieThreat Is this your way of saying you are NOT going to see what the current Pope said about your understanding of Vatican II? Remember the Pope was there.
@omiolo He was there and he was the one who invited the Calvinists to assist in the Novos Ordo Missae, he was in a suit and tie like their clergy dress up as opposed to catholic clerical garb...
@CommieThreat Do you feel the current Pope the Infallible See is right about Vatican II or do you believe YOU are right, since the two are mutually exclusive?
@omiolo I am talking about the current pope. He invited the calvinists in, he meets with orthodox patriachs for divine liturgy, he meets with the archbishop of canterbury for mass and theological discussion, and protestant leaders still stand on committees at the Holy See... obviously we are still one church, with its 3 branches, and he hasn't done anything to change it.
@CommieThreat I gave you a reference to find out what the current Pope actually SAID and decreed. Which blatantly disagrees with ALL you assertions. What more do you want me to do? Pretend the Pope did NOT issue that decree and say those things?
@omiolo So why doesn't he take action with the things I brought up? The actions I mentioned suggests that we are one church. Roman Catholic, Eastern Orthodox, and Protestant, despite any articles you have sent me
@omiolo Your just playing on semantics now, I said that because I believe the holy father said this, but I am just saying despite him saying that, we are still one church because of his actions that I have mentioned time and time again, and also the actions of the holy see..
you and my quotation "may have" is just an example of american bureaucracy... you took what I said out of context and made it sound like I didn't believe it at all
@CommieThreat NOPE, I am simply saying your depiction of the doctrines of the Catholic Church DIRECTLY disagree with the doctrines of the Catholic Church as clarified by the CURRENT Pope.
@omiolo I'm saying despite these words, these integrated masses continue at St. Peter's square... why wouldn't they just stop then if the Roman Catholic Church believes in being "the one and true" and I use Roman, because I consider our other brothers catholic too, this is just one branch.
If the Holy Father truly was trying to create a separation, these services would stop... but why do they continue?
@omiolo Again, semantics, you play on these. He said that, but he continues to hold mass with the archbishop of canterbury and the ecumenical patriarch...
@CommieThreat Because that is what Jesus Christ called God the Father. God the Father ALONE is the "Holy Father". Nobody on the face of the earth has a right to that title.

On behalf of the church, Elder Whiting thanked Bishop Silva and the Roman Catholic Diocese of Honolulu for the certificate that represents "two faiths coming together to help lift suffering." Elder Whiting also noted that after he worked on Molokai for about five years, he found looking at the peninsula from the sea cliffs above and reading about the Kalaupapa settlement was a spiritual experience "that has left a deep impression on my soul."
"We are still called to be there, where maybe we would rather not go, where we might be a little more uncomfortable, where we might have to get a little dirty, or beat up ourselves," Bishop Silva said. "So, we thank God that He has given us these examples in following people who were so dedicated to God and service to neighbors. Nothing could hold them back from whatever needed to be done."

In his remarks, The Rev. Riordan noted: "One thing that impresses me forcibly on coming to Salt Lake is the spirit of tolerance that is manifest."

On Feb. 4 Historic Nauvoo will commemorate the famous river crossing known as the "Mormon Exodus." The public is invited to witness or join in a symbolic march down Parley Street to the riverfront.
It was on Feb. 4, 1846, that early members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints began to cross the icy waters of the Mississippi as they set off on their trek west to the Rocky Mountains.
The completion of the first phase of the Luputa water line includes a nine inch pipe which feeds water from a nearby source and carries it nine miles to the village of Tshiabobo. Phases two and three include extending the pipeline another ten miles to Luputa. Once the entire project is complete more than 166,000 people will have clean water.
The people have contributed $3,000, which they used to develop the spring sources. Residents will manage the gravity-fed system through a community water and sanitation board. The boards charge is to ensure water quality, determine fees and perform regular maintenance.
A significant benefit of this type of water line is it requires no pump or electricity. Spring-capture systems require virtually no maintenance and they last three times longer compared to wells. Even in the dry season, the spring source for the project continues to flow at over six gallons per second.
A water distribution system of smaller pipes will take the water throughout the village of Tshiabobo to 40 water stations. All the trenches are hand dug by the people in the villages who will receive the water.
The Church pledged not only money but, also engineering services. A Church representative in the area, Celestin Kubangila Kamanda, said the people are grateful to the Church for providing the means to complete the project.
Humanitarian service missionaries for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints knew the Church was in a position to assist. After much discussion and review of what would be required to pipe clean water 19 miles through five communities, the Church helped to fund the project.
A dependable water system has been in the works for the last few years but residents lacked the money to complete it. (Newsroom first reported on this story last summer.)
Residents of the town of Luputa in Africas Democratic Republic of the Congo are celebrating the arrival of clean, fresh water to a region which has known only scarce water from shallow wells since the 1950s

On one given day, 83 people were requested to clear foliage to make room for the pipeline, and 206 showed up to work.

A water distribution system of smaller pipes will take the water throughout the village of Tshiabobo to 40 water stations. All the trenches are hand dug by the people in the villages who will receive the water.

The people have said the Church has given a great lesson about charity and the golden rule, Said Kamanda.

NikkiNicole89 2 years ago 4
you believe in a made up religion, created by an illiterate uneducated man who essentially wanted more than one wife, that since the original 1830's version has been edited and entire parts re written 4000 times leaving you with the current version, believing in intelligent and advanced tribes that lived in america... that left behind NO evidence of their existance (none of the "temples" written about)

Brad Drake figures it is something of a miracle that brought him to Catholic Community Services, the social service arm of the Catholic Church in Utah.

Everyone has the right to their own beliefs,
they have their own testament from god
that explains specific locations
that no one can find
and animals
that did not exist in the alleged places
and is obviously made up religion
that indeed is racist
and blasphemy because it is said they can become "gods" of their own planets if they live a sin free life
Mormons keep believing this rubbish, you're reliable at school bake sales :D

Official Statement of First Presidency issued on August 17, 1951, reads: "The position of the Church regarding the Negro may be understood when another doctrine of the church is kept in mind, namely, that the conduct of spirits in the pre-mortal existence...failure of the right to enjoy in mortality the blessings of the priesthood is a handicap... Under this principle there is no injustice whatsoever involved in this deprivation as to the holding of the priesthood by the Negroes.....

"Mormonism believe the Catholic Church is the Great and Abominable Church of the Devil!
"It is also to the Book of Mormon to which we turn for the plainest description of the Catholic Church as the great and abominable church. Nephi saw this 'church which is the most abominable above all other churches' in vision. He 'saw the devil that he was the foundation of it...evil desires that historically have been a part of this satanic organization. (1 Nephi 13:1-10)"

Key words are WHITE and DELIGHTSOME which means the SKIN!
"...wherefore, as they WERE WHITE...and DELIGHTSOME, that they might not be enticing unto my people the Lord God did cause a SKIN OF BLACKNESS to come upon them (2 Nephi 5:21)."
LDS PROPHET Spencer W. Kimball said: I saw a striking contrast in the progress of the Indian people today...they are now becoming WHITE and DELIGHTSOME, as they were promised...General Conference Report, October, 1960. Improvement Era,December 1960, pp. 922-923
