  • Sweet sound. The 65 is my favorite Impala. It is a record holder. Over 1 million units sold. That is including all the two doors and four doors. Only about 200 4 door hard tops were made so that makes them rare these days. Hope to get mine in good shape when the 50th anniversary comes around before too long.

  • Hot Rod is anything a gearhead could dream up. Hot Rod, Muscle Car, Sports Car, whatever you want to name it, the name does not make a car.

  • my dad has a 66 gmc

  • you sellin that butey

  • Gotta tell ya, I like the matte black. Like it has an attitude.

  • Sweeet!

  • My wife wants a 59 impala, i want a 65... She wins if it means i can have a pre 1950's pickup

  • Dave it sounds as if you are going to win either way sir.

  • I love the sound ur car has, what kind of cam do you have?

  • Nice! The '65 is my second favorite behind the '96. She sounds good.

  • I know what you mean. I'm hoping to have a 95 someday.

  • Mat black, Hmmmm...i have a hard on...

    i have a 66 4 door

  • thats hella nice. my built 350 sounds a lil like that, but i have headers and glasspacks with pencil tips. what kind of tranny u have? i just put a 700-r4 in mine. it makes a big difference from the powerglide or turbo 350

  • I just have a stock turbo 350. I bet the overdrive did make a big difference in yours. I think they have a lower ratio first gear and you get the benefit of overdrive. nice.

  • yes 1st and 2nd gear in the 700 r4 are really low so it really launches. and as soon as you get on the freeway and your in 4th gear going 65 or 70 MPH, it has a nice mellow 2500RPM or so sound to it. i know the 700r4 is pretty expensive but if you ever think about converting to it, just think of all the money you will save on gas with that extra gear. it really makes a difference.

  • That's why I want to keep the 5spd T-5 bolted to the 327 in my Impala, I get low gears for good launches and an overdrive for a 2000rpm hum on the freeway.

I think it's a good compromise, because at first I wanted to find a powergilde to go with it for originality

  • you have the 5-speed? nice. i had to shorten my driveshaft 3 inches and move the crossmember back too to make the 700-r4 work. did you have to make similar modifications to make the 5-speed fit?

  • I bought the car as is, knowing it wasn't the original tranny....so I dunno about driveshaft or crossmember modifications I'm sorry....

I knew GM didn't make or have 5 speeds until the 80s or very late 70s so test drove the car and bought it. The thing feels very solid, too bad I can't take it out on the road yet...

  • That sux, why cant you get it on the road yet? i know what its like to just have the car sitting in the driveway not driveable because your in the middle of fixing or upgrading something..it makes me anxious that i cant drive it right then lol

  • She's gotta go through an inspection first so I gotta pretty much do a complete suspention overhaul and check every gauge, light, meter.

It should be on the road next summer, if not, it WILL be on the road the year after.

  • im going thru the same thing with my '66 right now, some idiot in a truck drove head on into me back in march...tore the whole front end to shit, broke the tranny mounts and both motor mounts pushing the fan into the radiator...in short, it was just a big mess. insurance company said it was totaled, but i said f*** that, got my car back and they paid me for the price the car is worth and i bought a complete front end off craigs list and tore down and re-assembled the front end all in a weekend.

  • Holy fuck!! Your frame was still straight? I'm assuming you had to shell some cash on top of the insurance money...

  • i thought the frame was going to be severely damaged, but it wasnt. The insurance company gave me around 5 grand and i bought the complete front end, minus the radiator support and headlight housings (which were a bitch to find) for $700. in the process of fixing and finding replacement parts for the front..i ended up pissing most of the rest of the insurance money away on taking the girlfriend out of town on dates and getting rental cars instead of saving money for paint. I know.i fucked up lol

  • Hahahahaha, I know all too well the power of tits, I'm a victim myself lol.

  • yea so now i just need to pay for an inspection and pay all the bullshit salvage title fees and registration and i will be able to start taking it out again.

  • haha look at thte fag about talkin about mustangs as hotrods ahah dude that kids a fagget. its all about impalas, chevelles, camaros, gto, charger, challenger, monte carlo, plym cudas ha this kid dont know shittt

  • Very cool hot rod, anything that looks cool, sounds cool and works good is meant to be a HOT ROD!!!!! Don't matter if its 2 door 4 door a wagon or a truck. If its your dream then build it! Life is short, have fun and live as large as your bank account will allow you :) Keep smok'in those tires.

  • dude mustangs and corvettes aren't hotrods either, i think u shood get it together.

  • What are you talking about, Mustangs are muscle cars and corvettes are sports cars. notice how none of them are hot rods. hotrods are post 1964 cars.

  • Some definitions of 'hot rods' are cars from the 1920s to 1940s that are modified to go faster. If that's what you mean by hot rod, I would have to agree. But if you want to use that definition, then a Corvette or Mustang could not be a hot rod either. No matter what you call it, hot rod, muscle car, cardboard box... it's still fun to drive!

  • the whole point of hot roding is to make something fast and diferent from every one else dumb ass

  • Thats a beautiful setup on that engine. Plus a beautiful sounding. i love it man. check out my 65 impala dude. thanks!!

  • what kind of engine setup do you have on that?

  • Um...400 smallblock with basic go fast parts like a big cam, roller rockers, huge noisy electric fuel pump, etc...

  • Bad Ass, I truly envy you

  • I'll give you the $28.25 I owe for it.

  • Oh man, that's so funny my side hurts. Maybe you could sell that 3 page report on Nuclear Fission.

  • looks kinda like mine...lol :)

  • They do! On your 65 impala drag race video, they even sound like they have about the same power. Do you remember what the time was on that run? (i've never taken mine to the track)

  • 7.20 if i remember correctly (1/8mile)

  • Do you want to sell it ?

  • nope
