The four chests are as follows: outside Old Dalan's, Rabanastra palace (don't open any chests), Nalbina Dungeon confectionary room (don't open any chests there--3), Phon Coast beach (don't open any chests--16).

They are called monograph drops which if you have the appropriate grimoire for a certain foe it has a chance to drop other loot. Example is Dustia will drop Arcana if you have bought the grimoire....hence a monograph drop.
#1 Unclear of this question. Once 6 oversouls are killed Helvinek appears. He will keep spawning on switch screens. But if you stop this process, thats it. NO oversouls or Helvinek unless you leave Nabudis.

Good, but how is having Capella on Balthier and Shortbow on Fran making it "an easy game"? A gun of this strength on a character above lv. 30 is just about the worst choice for inflicting damage. You can buy a Silver Bow in Nalbina before going to the Palace, by the way, much better than the Shortbow she starts with (although I don't see why you wouldn't just equip her your Flame Staff).
I'm taking into account that not everyone reached lv30. And not everyone will think to buy weapons for Balthier/Fran before entering the Palace.
But your right, I didn't equip the Flame Staff because basically all I did was do what a new player would think and do, sell everything and that would be available in the Bazaar.
I'm taking into account the new players, so I'm not making things too complicated. urgh part2 msg too long.
Thanks....I am trying to put myself in someone's shoes as he begins this game. Its been a long time for me, so I'm just trying to remember what I did back then and what mistakes so that others won't make. Example...my 1st time I got owned by mimic queen.

Well because some beasts don't have good items. Many of the items are very rare with monograph at times.
