Am I the only one who noticed that the BIOS POST screen was different than everyone else's Eee? On the one in the video, the background is brown, and there appears to be a celeron logo on the bottom right? ive had a 2g surf and a standard 4g and neither looked like that....

It stands for Solid-State Drive. There is no physical platter in the drive, only flash memory chips. This allows for higher data throughput, but most of these drives are very small in size, and are quite expensive.

Yes it will run Matlab. Use the linux version of Matlab. However check out Octave if you haven't already. Its a free Matlab clone that supports most of Matlab functionality.

Why is everybody comparing this to a mac? It is aimed at a completely different market! If you buy a mac you buy a powerful multimedia machine, but I wouldn't want to carry it around all the time. If you buy an eee pc you buy a low-cost, low-weight but fully functional computer for on the road. You can see it already by the excellent PDA-like menu structure.

hahaha no it isnt fake or a timelapse, its a solid state hdd booting custom built linux, so it is that fast. macbooks have faset processors (this has a 900mhz one) and they are still slower booting as they boot a more bloated operating system.
