@RoseZXPosionX10 Perhaps have you enable the "finger painting" then you have to disable it.

@RoseZXPosionX10 That's the smudge tool making a new white background as you paint. If Adobe P. has a use background color tab, turn it on. I use Painter mostly, but AP ought to handle it.

When I use the smudge tool my photoshop often takes a while to apply the affect and my cursor turns to the loading icon.

Any advice for what to do to make the smudge tool run more affectively? Or any idea what goes wrong when i try to use it?

@StephanieValentin You're probably right. I think that most of the time that I've experienced a problem I have been using a smudge tool that's too large. The last time I had a problem the smudge tool was about 1100 pixels.
