Just installed this "Magic Lantern" custom firmware and my 50D now records 1080P video without problem. It runs on your CF card, you only need to upload a little boot loading firmware into the camera. It is very convenient. If anything goes wrong, completely format the card to revert to official firmware, give it a try, you will be surprised!

I bought my Canon EOS 50D a little late last May 2011. I want it's ruggedness look and sturdiness Body. But it's Really could captured video without an audio all you need to do is Download the software through an Internet Free Download and Voila your Shooting like Semi Pro if Not Pro but all you need to do is attached the cord to your Desktop computer or even a Laptop for Outdoor just put some music to enhanced your video.
Let me rephrase...the 50d does not have a standard recording function! There are software capabilities that will allow video recording thru upgrades but the camera alone when purchased doesn't have standard recording. Sorry to have mispoken zeusko!!!
