  • I cannot believe she died of AIDS!! its so sad

  • It's amazing how perfectly beautiful she was, she was the perfect model.

  • Comment removed

  • Check out HeartandSoulGiaCarangi at Yahoo groups. Sandy linter is owner and answers questions. A lot of unseen Gia pics too. ;-))

  • She is so so beautiful. I love her look when she's got no makeup on, but that's just me. Just saw the movie and it's so sad and tragic. R.I.P <3

  • The most beautiful model ever lived!

  • Too many people think that very beautiful models are gifted with joy and no problems the whole life because of the looks and potential.Wrong.It is horrible to be beautiful for everyone but to not see it yourself...add her love struggles and the fact that she hated the world she lived in..she didn't have an easy life only because she was a top model. Also,Crawford is not a "version"of her,I never liked her,I have seen her face in so many Latinas..but I never saw Gia's face on someone.may she rest.

  • I was just watching this scene in the HBO movie starring Angelina Jolie. To see the actual interview is strange and somewhat disturbing...such a tragic story.

  • @mchicxoo Yeah, same thoughts.

  • 2 1/2 hours at least for hair and makeup??? I'm sorry, but I'm a professional makeup artist and if I took that long to paint a face, I would fire me.

  • (sorry for the typos my phobe auto corrects)

  • Young beautiful and very lucky people like Gia, Corey Haim amd Drew Barrymore do drugs and fuck off because they don't understand that it's temparary. They think it will last forvever. Someone like Drew is super, super rare to climb out of it alive, drug free, be able to keep their money and remain in the spot light. Adults get this model/ actor world a child does not - that's why they falll. :(

  • @dreamcatcher75418 Really?

Corey Haim died of complications due to pneumonia, not from a drug overdose.

People who end up being chronic drug users are in pain and looking for an escape from that pain. They aren't just "fucking off."

It's too bad that this shallow-ass world we live in puts more value on beauty, fame and money than they do in the fragility of the human soul. Just remember--there but for the grace of god go you. Have some compassion.

  • @Spookgrrrl I wasn't finished--anyone who wants to bash poor Corey Haim would do well to remember that sweet little kid from "Lucas" and "Silver Bullet." That kid had more talent in his pinky finger than most of us have in our entire bodies.

  • @Spookgrrrl

I agree with you. The current climate of our society is not welcoming to those who are beautiful (on the outside and inside) and fragile. All the more so in a competitive world of Fashion and Hollywood. I disagree that drugs help you escape. Drugs take any problem you have and make it worse. Stopping means that you have to bring back all that pain and deal with it. So really there is no where to escape because it always boomerangs back around.

  • @Spookgrrrl You got me wrong. How do I say this? The way I see it an old industry that has been around for a very long time exploits very young children. At 16 you don't think you're ever going to age. When success comes so fast and so strong you think you're invisible. When you're that young and you get hooked on drugs you think that you can just stop at any time and go to back to the way it used to be. I'm sure if Corey could, he would have told his child self to never start drugs.

  • Anyone who believes that money and professional success compensates for internal pain and vulnerability is an idiot! Nuf said.

  • she looks better without that cake on her face.

  • Gia's time on earth was short but she was so way beyond her years! Those who are connected to gia as I was felt something special about her. Not just a face that could sell magazines or products. If you are still one of those people that hold Gia in a special place in your heart...I think you understand. She is a true original. You feel connected to her! Keep her alive...always!

  • Oh yeah, Oh my god, what a HORRIBLE life huh? You get to spend all day having people wait on you hand and foot making you beatuiful and then get to pose for a famous photographer and have your picture in every magazine in the world.... Oh god. I mean, oh my GOD!!!!!! WHAT A FUCKING HORRIBLE LIFE!!!! I can't image anything worse. And then on top of all those horrible things, you make tons and tons of money!!! Jesus, when does the horror stop???? Please, someone, make it all stop!!!!!!

  • @HallowsReign23 No, you spend your days, rushing to all kinds of castings and callings & when you finally get there, they take a look at you and say: you, go ! you give me your book. Turn your head this way.. At a shoot you sometimes have to wait hours for the client to show, have to wear bikinis & light clothes when the studio is barely heated, you have to stand in the same uncomfortable position for minutes, in painful heels which are hardly ever your size, for hours. Glamorous ? Not always..

  • @GhettoChiique Oh my god how horrible that job sounds. Nobody THINKS obviously, look at the jobs that a lot of people have, like working in the sewers, collecting garbage. THOSE people have hard jobs and BARELY get paid. Models do nothing and get PAID TONS OF MONEY. Oh yeah, how horrible, they have to get dressed up in a chilly studio and get their picture taken and then get tens of thousands of dollars. They have nothing to complain about and either did Gia. She was just a plain old drug addict

  • @HallowsReign23 She started off working in her dad's diner. I started off working in a restaurant. All models start somewhere. And there are always people who have it worse. But you have no idea how this lifestyle really is. She had her struggles, yes she was a drug addict. She earned more in the first year than she had ever seen in her life. Of course she didn't know how to handle it, and she already suffered depression, then close friends of her died.. And addiction is a powerful demon.

  • @GhettoChiique Believe me, I know how powerful addiction is. But what I'm saying is, compared to other people's lives who REALLY struggle, like it said in the movie...SHE HAD A FREE RIDE AND SHE FUCKED IT UP. If I could trade my body and face in for her's and become a model, I WOULD NOT fuck it up as much as she did. I can't stand people that have such better lives than others and all they do is bitch and complain and get high and get drunk. She was beautiful but I don't respect her as a person.

  • @HallowsReign23 - Oh, give it a rest. You don't KNOW what is going on in someone else's head and you have no idea if someone else's life is 'harder' than anothers. You have a LOT of growing up to do, dear. Geesh. Give yourself a break and then you can learn to give others a break. I'd hate to spend a day inside YOUR head because if you have so little compassion for others then it must be ghastly inside your mind. Remember that until you walk in another's shoes, you don't know jack!

  • @FredericaBimble You don't know what's going on inside my mind, and I don't give a shit if you know or not. And yeah, I don't have much compassion for others because what Gia did was all for attention. I don't have respect for anybody who doesn't work hard, becausing getting dressing up and standing in front of a camera is not work... Plus all the money she made and then just spent it on drugs... With the money she made she could have helped so many people. I would never waste money like she did

  • @HallowsReign23 let me tell you a spanish saying" no escupas para arriba porque te puede caller in la cara" that means dont spit upwards because it could hit your face, which means dont judge people because nobody in this world is perfect or you are hhmm, if you are then your like jesus which i think its impossible so shut the fuck up

  • @956valerie I'm not shutting the fuck up, especially for someone that speaks the devil's language of spanish... And yeah, I am judging Gia. I don't give a shit. People act like you're not suppose to judge others because everyone has done something wrong. I do shit wrong all the time and people can call me on it whenever they want and I will either apologize or defend myself. When someone calls you out on bullshit you've done, and you hide or have others defend you, then you don't deserve respect

  • @HallowsReign23 - You should be thankful and appreciative that YOU'VE never felt depression, vulnerability, pain or disturbances in your mind. I love people like you. You have it all figured out. I can't wait for the day when I too have it all figured out and can make my brain stop attacking and showing me memories that I don't want to re-live. How DO you do it?! Curious though, your words don't seem very happy. Give up the tough act, sweets because there is more strength in facing yourself.

  • the gia movie did it really good! it was nearly the same

  • was she high in this interview?

  • she had gorgeous breasts

  • oh wow, they practically used this interview word for word in 'Gia'

  • it's a pity

  • She is really Young & pretty, , You can see the pain looking in her eye's... Angelina Jolie Play Gia's Role perfectly...Great Indeed!

  • oh gia :'( angelina was so good

  • angelina jolie played her perfectly.

  • she's like 24 or something in this interview. wow.

  • For all that sadness Gia had and such a tragic ending she endured, I still appreciate her because she gave brown eyed girls & brunettes someone to look up to. Eevn if she really wasn't perfect, well inside anyway. Outside 1:22-1:28 STUNNING! Gia showed a different kind of beauty & style when it wasn't hip. She showed attitude & poses that no one thought would work and they did. She opened doors for girls today who probably never heard of her. So for me she is always in and worth celebrating.

  • wow, just.. wow.

  • Angy moar sexeh.

  • I understand that Cindy Crawford was regarded, by many who worked in the fashion world, as the un-troubled reincarnation of Gia Carangi.

  • @lginpdx yep.her nickname was Baby Gia, and it was how she found her popularity...:}

  • "I didn't built into a Model, I just sorta became one"

~ The Iconic Legend Gia Marie-Carangi

  • If she still alive today she would be like the white Whitney Houston I bet.lol

  • sexyyy voice

  • She wasn't "GREAT". She was a living mannequin. But, she WAS beautiful. Very. But, very tragic. And, really, a symbol of huge success at a young age and of the environment of the super model. You have to be very strong. Determined to take the best and leave the rest.

  • interviewer was a cunt.

didn't even let her think for moment.

....the world will attack vulnerablility at its most honest....

how can anybody ever wonder why things go bad.

it is a product, and until the world gets the point....there will always be violence.

  • ela foi a modelo mais bela q ja pisou na face da terra

  • If you are ignorant to Gia Marie Carangi's life story as we know it, please don't comment. Saying she was depressed is an understatement and if you can't understand that, I'm sorry but I find offensive. I know no one cares about what I think but..I guess...just keep it in mind. Thank you.

  • @foxyroxy2005 Angelina Jolie did an AMAZING job at portraying Gia. She did deliver her lines in a more carefree manner but definitely no slurring. The movie wasn't about looks anyways which means you completely missed the message sent. It is NOT FICTION.

  • average-looking with tons of makeup. i don't get the fascination with her. there's nothing unique about her face. and i'm sick of the canonized sainthood of junkies.

  • @bagyourface You have no idea what you are talking about....NONE. This has NOTHING to do with being a junkie. This has to do with a GORGEOUS girl who lost everyone she cared about to someone else. She wasn't good enough for them, or the world. A girl who went insane with loneliness and despair and turned to drugs to numb the pain. A girl who lost her life at only 26 from a AIDS; all because of a dirty heroine needle and pneumonia from her immune deficiency. The world was oblivious to her pain.

  • @talkoholic13 gorgeous, pfffft. and she needed 2 and a half hours worth of makeup. she's so average-looking. i don't get it. she wasn't trying to numb the horrible pain of her wretched, sad life. she tried drugs and got hooked. average looking.

  • @talkoholic13 I know you're ignorant, but please. She didn't just try drugs while she was living this wonderful life. She tried drugs as a girl with a broken soul who at that point couldn't make any good decisions. She was so young and so ignorant to how cruel this world can be. She is gorgeous and by the way ALL MODELS SPEND HOURS DOING THEIR MAKEUP. Why would they take her off of the street for modeling if she wasn't gorgeous???

  • she reminded me so much of angelina jolie at the 2:20 mark when she raised her eyebrows. It was so scary i kept watching it over and over again.

  • I feel for her tortured soul. But people can respond to you positively for some superficial reason or negatively for some superficial reason. Beauty last only a brief moment. Be patient it will be over soon. Promise.

  • I miss real supermodels and real fashion! I miss seeing fashion magazines with supermodels on the cover and not a typical "A-List" actress!!

  • Gia Carangi is not a "typical" lesbian, in other words she's a "lipstick lesbian". She was the first beautiful lesbian (adrogyny) supermodel. But her features are stunning and highly "photogenic"!! :)

  • Gorgeous and what a sexy, expressive voice.

  • she is beautiful and i love the movie

  • Beautiful woman... but sad and tragic life.

  • the most gorgeous woman of all tyms... simply love her....

  • She's obviously high...but still she comes across as pretty focused and communicative. Apparently she wasn't usually this CAAAAAALM off camera (which is maybe why she grabbed downers.) Partly why she seems a little "off" here, too, is simply because she wasn't that educated. Okay, so she was no brain surgeon...but that's alright. I bet she'd be depressed to know that people primarily talk about her LOOKS, to this day, as she never felt comfortable with the feminine fashion image she projected.

  • rare beauty that's for sure. she was close to perfection if possible. RIP Sweet girl

  • When Cindy crawford was starting out, they called her Baby Gia....

  • OMG her voice is so damn deep

  • @qutestyskaK I am a grown man and I still get uncomfortable listening to such stories. What people should realize is that this is a business. MONEY is the name of the game. The actors, models, sportsmen are cattle. Really do hope that her story made some people wake up and be cautious, otherwise ...what....

  • @kikicreamify she isn't a tranny and she died of AIDS.

  • @kikicreamify she wasn't a tranny.... she died of aids from drug abuse. She was a herion addict. You should have a little more respect for the dead to at least read up a little about them before calling them hateful names. You should watch some of the videos posted here on You Tube, then you would know. ...I'm just saying..

  • @kikicreamify if you watched the movie Gia with Angelina Jolie playing her, you wouldn't say that. Now every time I see her I just feel really sad. I want to save her. The movie leaves a mark on you. I was only 14 when I watched it and kind of innocent so it was slightly disturbing and it definitely woke me up.

  • Truly she is someone else :)

  • Drop Dead Gorgeous

  • One has to remember Gia recieved her fame all at once and as an 18 year old kid. I've had many friends that have played D1 college football and professional football. The pressure, the things handed to them, the whole lifestyle is often too much for them to take. Gia's life at that time was at least 10 fold harder than that. Nobody was there to tell her no. She was right, most of the crowd was like vultures. Unfortunately, she was taken too young. She was terribly misunderstood.

  • 100% get promised lots of things and 99% do not get it and now are left with no skills to get another job after years of trying

  • Comment removed

  • She is beautiful, but she really looks sad. This is the first time I've seen her and seen a resemblence between her and Sofia Black D'Elia (who plays Tea on US/MTV Skins).

  • She seems sad :(

  • @ABTHENTA what you expect ? a laughing clown ? sheesh.

  • As witnesses to the heavens above and the stars in the sky, WE promised to avenge the death of all innocent babies lost down in the tropics. WE will not give up till they all suffer and die for the abuse "they" handed to innocent rebels of Mercede's rule

  • Girls, don't be fooled into thinking that "modeling" is glamorous. It's a form of prostitution! You can see how terribly unhappy Gia is in this interview and when she says there are vultures all around them, she's not kidding! The modeling/entertainment world is unbelievably cruel and when you are down and out, they kick you when you are down. It's so terribly sad.

We miss you Gia. Love your friend, R.L.

  • @LiquidMuse360 loooll! i agree with everything you say except it being a form of prostitution. omg! dts an ignorant statement its nt.xx

  • I love her voice! <3

  • That's not how she really sounded.

  • Is this interview from 1978? She will stay forever beautiful and she will always be something special and unfotgettable! R.I.P.

  • @PamMiri1989 I just read the book A Thing of Beauty and in the book it said this interview was right around 1980.

  • @MrDeliriaframe thx :) I really wanna read that book too i think that it is very interesting. How did you like it?

  • @PamMiri1989 I loved it, Finished it in 24 hours. Felt like crying after wards and I fell in love with her all the more. I just wanted to comfort her.

  • LOL at the way that guy said that last comment.

Im a guy, and i found out about her today. im not sure how. but she is one of my heroes.(god i love women)

  • Eh?

  • Too bad this was her only interview, I think all of us would have loved to see more of her :] <3

  • Poor poor woman, she just wanted her mother's love

  • What a Girl!!! Her face just is gorgeous and different from picture to picture

  • omg i am in tears. she was gorgeous. RIP. She would have been 51.

  • WHERE IS GISELE? where is naomi? thogh kate moss is little similer with this super super super model..

  • @sarabower1 EWWWW r u fucking serious?? kate moss is ugly compared to Gia

  • @slamdarkangel123 thats your opinion. I think Kate Moss is gorgeous

  • @sarabower1 well this is ur opinion and that was mine

  • @sarabower1 Kate Moss looks like something I left in the toilet...

  • @pakantotmiss those porn stars that u r talking about have boob, nose jobs and face left body left and u name it but this godess is a natural beauty so Don't u even think about comparing her to those filthy whores and u should at least respect the dead

  • SHE IS ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS SO SAD THE MAD MAD WORLD CONFLICTED HER

  • OMG i adore her , i think she was nerves, that was her first interview . rest in pace Gia

  • @MsLumos85 I love her too...but she was high during this interview.

  • At what age did she start using drugs?

  • @wannaknowit in between 14-16 in high school

  • @j1lu8vspun

    thanks for the inform.!

  • I LOVE her. I was named after her. My full name is Gia Nicole Hernandez :3

  • @NicoolkidCx That's cool, I want to name my daughter after her!

  • @LazyFilmMaker

    Yeah me too!!!!

  • i love her, i dont ever mind whether she is a drug addict or sumthing else... i adore her...first we need some beauty, courage, attitude 2 become a model & she is a supermodel. <3 her

  • gorgegeus, love her

  • the eyes never lie! shes high as she talks in this Vid..... what elce is she going to say??? "ho , yes IM high as a kite! "

  • She became a legend !

  • @creation2010 SHE IS A ICONIC LEGEND!

  • There is this Marilyn Monroe look in her eyes and in her voice ... like that sad , straining to sound sober , to comprehend . Thank you for remembering her .

  • she's so beautiful.....wow though, it's so interesting to watch this and hear her answers after seeing the movie. especially the drugs question, how just before the interview we know what angelina/gia was in the bathroom doing, and how she says, "oh yes i'm free of it."

  • this video is missing a part when gia talks about how everyone technically uses drugs because the drug is in their food.

  • Im going to go throwup now Im so fat!!

  • Absolutely gorgeous! Gisele, Naomi, or Cindy Crawford have nothing on her!

  • @absurdist366

Hell no they don't have that spark that Gia does, and they're ugly compared to Gia :]

  • @absurdist366 ...I know a lot of ppl say this. But ...I don't see 'it'.

  • Just wondering who was the guy @ 2:35 ?

  • Comment removed

  • she was beautiful :(

  • She was on some level of drugs durin this interview, but it doesn't take away from how great or not great people believe she was.

  • @drscutest3000 yes is very true is the ugly true

  • Why is it important to post about her physical state here and now? Showing respect postmortum means to give peace for Gia . I feel sorry for her, she was so young. Its not important if she was on drugs this interview. There wont anyway be a chance to get a glimpse of her private feelings and being. May she rest in peace.

    Her life wasnt easy.

  • All the talented one dies young!!!!!! she was weird, but actually she had brains

  • SHE LOOKS LKE JOAN JETT...THEY BTH FRM P.A. DAM

  • @zombiemaz Oh my God that was the same thing I thought. She talks like her too. It's crazy.

  • I don't think that she was high in this interview, really...

  • she was high when did this interview...

  • why so young? :/ aids sucks (oh, really? but yeah, just... saying :/)

  • It's a shame she died. She really was one of the worlds greatest models.

  • She was great. Gia did her best under tremendous circumstances.

  • @sandylinter1

Is it hard watching these types of clips back?

  • what play music 5:24?

  • she spoke so deep for someone so young..

she was 20 when this was filmed...

  • @magicbutterfly0 i too believe she loved Sandy and Sandy loved her..so why are you saying she died from a lack of love? that doesn't make any sense to me at all. what was said was she died from loving the wrong woman and that is what destroyed her...i disagree..i do not think that loving Sandy and Sandy loving her is what made her start doing drugs...and it is just what the movie portrays we do not know the real truth..it is only a movie of fiction..based on a true story.

  • REAL SUPERmodels and ROCKstars have drugdealer on SPEED DAIL not the alley ....LMFAO!!!!!!!!

  • My gd, her eyes at 2:02.....what sadness..

  • all the comments i see are about the drugs...well i think gia was amazing :P drugs is part of life for some people so idgaf

  • Gia was a wonderful woman who fell in love with the wrong woman. That is what destroyed her. Gia died from a broken heart

  • @RImusclebear that is total b.s.

she died from AIDS...not from a broken heart...i agree she was a beautiful and free spirit, but i don't believe what you've written as being the truth. just my opinion.

  • Gia was a wonderful woman who fell in love with the wrong woman. That is what destroyed her.

  • Who do you mean?

  • go back to the zoo.............straight ones..........the keeper is getting anxious.

  • now this is a female species............her choice of women was correct. only the dogs take a man for her soul mate.

    stupid heteros

  • watch her eyes @ 1:44 to 1:49

  • Yes, she was high. When you're high or even drunk, thoughts races to a level that responses are slow and getting high is for relaxation. Angelina played that scene very good.

  • so is Gia under influence of drugs in this interview....cause in the film with Angelina she was?

  • I Absolutely love Gia! But she definatley had mental problems....maybe from her very unhappy childhood.....wished someone could of helped her!

  • She didn't have mental problems, and people wanted to help her but you can't help someone that doesn't want it.

  • I LOVE GIA CARANGI

  • At 1:24 I love when she goes from fierce serious look to smiling and laughing. Such a effortlessly beautiful woman, no wonder the camera loved her.

  • @Beautifu1B1urr gia puts her life in the trash.

Young, beautiful and famous, everything thrown in the trash.

who uses drugs is a suicidal.

  • @MyGauchito It appears to us that she had it all. But she didn't have the main things that one needs in life to be happy. Her home life was never good, her parents were too busy to really spend time with her and show her what real true love is or should be and she went out looking for love and approval in all the wrong places and it winded up costing her her life.

  • @Beautifu1B1urr I'm Brazilian.

    you are right in part.

she had no love at home, but had youth, beauty, employment.

many people have nothing, and do not use drugs.

everyone said she had a strong personality, but drugs were stronger than her.

I have all the magazines which it appears, was a fan, was a bad example she gave to us.

  • Not everybody who uses drugs is suicidal.

  • @KiittyCupcake drug use is a step to suicide.

  • No it isn't.

  • @KiittyCupcake yes it is.Say no to drugs.

    it destroys families.

most people who have committed suicides were drug dependent.

  • No it isn't.

    Have you ever taken drugs?

  • @KiittyCupcake unfortunately, yes.

    it almost destroyed my life.

    marijuana and cocaine.

  • Marijuana and cocaine almost destroyed your life? HAHA

  • @KiittyCupcake everything starts with marijuana and cocaine.

    stop laughing!!

  • No, not everything.

Marijuana and cocaine aren't a big deal, i don't see how it could "destroy" your life.
