Jeffrey had kleig light blue eyes--even more so than Paul Newman. By the way, he may have been born in Louisiana--but he grew up in Whitefish Bay, WI---a suburb of Milwaukee (my hometown). Yeh, WI--another hometown boy!
His last wife was Emily Mclaughlin who played Jessie Brewer on the soap General Hospital. She is buried next to him. What a shame, just like actors John Hodiak and Tyrone Power, Jeffrey died so young. Very sad....
Yes, I watched his film King of Kings....he played as Jesus.....very great....I heard that Jeffrey died so young....very sad! He had a beautiful bright blue eyes....nice and handsome. Thank for remember him
he must have had vascular disease and not known it. back then cardiology was primative. it's not unheard of, even today, someone his age who seems perfecty healthy, to suffer a stroke or heart attack. genetics-he got some bad genes. he sure got the 'looks' genes, though.
No, I think it´s quite sure, that the head-injuries on the set of his last movie led to a cerebral-bleeding and finally to the fatal strokes he died of much to early...
Should've stayed on Star Trek, Jeff. Ya wouldn't have gone to Spain to do that movie and had that bad fall that killed ya later on. Who knows, ya could have gone on to have been TJ Hooker, Denny Crane, or even the Priceline Negotiator(Karate chop!)
He had suffered a number of strokes which appeared when he went to Spain for that movie, but there is no saying it would not have happened if he stayed in the US. It's likely that his days were fairly numbered regardless.
According to Barry Williams' book, "Growing Up Brady", Jeffrey Hunter auditioned for the part of Mike Brady, but was turned down because he looked too much like an actor or model instead of an architect. Imagine losing a role for being too good looking! How things might've turned out differently. Hunter would've made a fine Brady father. Robert Reed hated playing the part.
@Bestmanme08 I stand corrected. It wasn't Barry Williams' book. It was a different book, "Bradymania", which stated that Jeffrey Hunter auditioned for the part of Mike Brady, and was turned down.
Hunter's Captain Pike was, I believe, Gene Roddenberry's true vision of the Enterprise CO. Shame about him -- I also believe he was underrated as an actor. Maybe he was TOO good looking to be taken seriously by the studio honchos. Pity.
thank you very much!!! you made me feel so sad ! i didnt know he died so young ! i saw him in "king of kings" and i felt that he was the thrue JESUS ,so handsome,so lovely, that beautiful face, that tender look...
Another wonderful video to honor an EXTREMELY handsome and talented man who left us far too soon! Thank you so much for taking the time to create this wonderful way to honor Jeffrey Hunter's memory, muirmaiden. I liked all your videos, but as a fan, of course I liked this one the best.
No doubt if Jeffrey had been alive today & a young man he would be a mega star, a great actor not fully appreciated or recognized. Even though the material & quality of Films today are crap compared to 50/60s . Thanks for tribute to Jef
Thank you so much for this wonderful tribute to Jeffrey Hunter. I was 11 yrs. old the first time I saw him on the Silver Screen and thought he was the most handsome man I had ever seen. I'm now a senior citizen and STILL think he's the handsomest. Thanks again.
I remember him well and yes Captian Christopher Pike. I didn't know his history but you certainly informed me well with this video. Beautifully done once again ! Lovely tribute Muirmaiden.
Another 5* video and with the new special effects even more of a tribute. I want to thank you for doing all these. It's good that we remember all these individuals who brought so much into our lives.

Williams' book is misinformative, mikecleona! It claims Eric Shea played Linus when Chris and Stephen Shea did!

What a great actor. I loved him in the first pilot of Star Trek, "the Cage" so much that I wish he was the captain throughout the whole series.
