I saw Mariee Sioux open for Morcheeba at the Filmore in San Francisco. Totally the wrong setting for her music, it was too noisy. But one thing you don't get from the video is how shockingly black her hair is. Its very strange and beautiful. I would love to see her conert in a more intimate venue.

What the heck do the lyrics mean? I have her album and don't understand what the heck she's talking about, love the song "Wild Eyes", when I close my eye's and listen to it I get some pretty strange images lol.

Wish I understood what she's singing about, if it's interpretive, literal, or, something else entirely.

She looks like a younger version of my grandma, and has a gorgeous voice.

She's singing about her identity and her heritage- how they're mixed up with each other til she doesn't know where one begins and the other ends. I think the song presents it as something of a burden- not only because of how she sees herself, but how others see her, or maybe what they expect of her?
